I've decided we are going to install a little summer house, then I'm outside enjoying the sun whilst still being protected :rotfl:

    Hi everyone,

I haven't been stitching lately as I wanted to get on with knitting a cotton sweater in time for the better weather :) Unfortunately I have run out of yarn - only need to do another 3 rows of stocking stitch, and that means the other 4 colours will be short too (it's striped). My tension is right but the pattern is wrong

Started on my next cityscape last night - Sydney - have so far stitched the base of the Sydney Harbour Bridge (ie. a line :rotfl:) so nothing much to photograph.

DH and I were looking at Summer houses at the garden centre over the weekend. DS2 had his eye on one for a games room, cheeky monkey! I like the idea of a stitching room ;)

Hope all are well and enjoying the nicer weather. I am leaving work soon, so hope to pop out into the garden when I'm home.

I fancy a weekend away and wondered whether anyone knows where is best to go for crafting/stitching shopping. I heard that York and Harrogate are good, but have not been. I will be going by train, so I'm limited to inner town shopping. Any advice appreciated. Oh and I think I'm going to book a Royal College of Needlework course for the end of September. It's based at Hampton Court in London and it's to learn embroidery with the theme of WW1 postcards from the trenches. They run loads of courses but lots I wouldn't be experienced enough for.

    Have a good day all

    Morning everyone

Not strictly stitching news but yesterday we bought some card from The Range for DH to make mount for Thank God picture. Still I suppose that's progress ;).

We love York and Harrogate Coxy. I can remember going to a little shop in Harrogate called Duttons for Buttons but I cannot think of anywhere that immediately jumps to mind. There are probably lots of places tucked away that I just haven't managed to stumble upon. Your embroidery course sounds fab btw. Really frustratring to find you are short of yarn

Make the most of the sunshine ladies. :D

  • Morning all. No stitching to report as we've been away all week. Not far from Harrogate actually, but we never went shopping there. Gutted now after reading the comments about the stitchy shops!

Oh well back to the mountain of washing lol

  • Hello Everyone, I'd just like to say Hi, I'm a long time lurker and I thought it was about time I engaged and put some of my WIP up here and see what you fine people think of it.

Welcome to the caf! trekkerdude here is your link https://flic.kr/s/aHsk9xcUp1 great progress so far, how are you finding the black aida? It was a nightmare for me when I did Czar. On a sidenote, I think you're the first male member _party_ I wish my OH liked cross stitching :p

  • NMM thank you for making a proper link for me.

I'm finding it ok to work with though definitely harder than working on the light colours. I do find that having a good daylight bulb helps and having something lighter under the aida helps too.

Yay on being the first man! I wish more of us were interested too, I find it nice and relaxing and helps to take my mind off work so think that it would work like that for others too.

Hi everyone and welcome trekkerdude :hello:

Your progress on Scarlet Wizard is fantastic. Not sure I'm brave enough to attempt black aida

Still no stitching done here. Garden was calling yesterday and a long doggy walk with DH and the children today. Hope to do some more on Pretty Little Sydney this week.

    Take care all

Coxy, today started with it almost flooding then turned to glorious sunshine this afternoon, so we took the dog on a long walk she loved it.

trekkerdude, I see you also do knitting (doctor who scarf in sig?), I too find these crafts relaxing, I crochet aswell as cross stitch. This was Czar that I did on black aida, I don't fancy using it again anytime soon, lol.

  • Coxy11, you should definitely give it a go, yes its different to working with the lighter colours, but boy does it make an image pop when its used. If you look at the reds in my pictures you can see how much more vibrant they look than they would against white.

Must admit too not much stitching done myself this weekend (been trying to get the car sorted and ready for its MoT), but taking it to work on over lunch tomorrow which will give me a chance to catch up a little
