  • Lovely update pics coxy, ems and nmm :T.

Well done keza on getting into the WOCS. Your sampler looks amazing - bet you can't wait to hang it in your new home. Good luck with the move.

Making good progress with 7 swans a swimming. I have managed to loose one of my yellow threads. Cannot find it anywhere. I'm convinced there is part of the Bermuda Triangle in our house. Will sort another one out tomorrow and then I think it is onto the backstitch.

    Take care everyone

I'm very sorry for jumping in with a question when I haven't contributed anything (I have been reading the various threads for years and know you guys are so knowledgeable, so that's why I thought I would ask!).

My father has a project that he would love me to do but I'm struggling to find the relevant aida - the project is about 2m by 1m, the biggest bit of aida I have found online is 1m, so I was just wondering if anyone knew if and where it is possible to get aid that size.

Any answers (even 'no you can't get it') would be greatly appreciated  and I continue to look forward to seeing all of your fantastic projects :D

Depends on what HPI (holes per inch) or sometimes known as count you are looking for.

Sewitall - have 100x180 cm in 14hpi. It costs about £30. If you spend over £25 you get free shipping and over £30 you get a metre square of another piece of fabric.

You could ask other places can they cut a bigger piece - they don't always advertise.

    HTH

    Kind wishes,

    sweetcarer ;)

Why Oh Why, I found a 2m x 150cm piece of 14ct aida clicky there were also a few other counts available. I'm intrigued as to what the project is

  • Generally a lurker as have only got as far as making small cards. But my local fabricland has rolls of aida they will cut to length (like normal fabric), they also sell online.

    Hi and welcome.

Willowfabrics.com are both a wholesaler and a retailer so will cut fabric to any size. You may have to call rather than order online. They sell best quality Zweigart aida I wouldn't risk doing a major project like yours on cheap aida but that's just my opinion. Would love to know more about it:)

That's brilliant, thank you very much for all the help and advice :j

Dad has a copy of a brass rubbing of a person (sorry can't remember the name) from the local church when he was young, I think it will probably be a nightmare to do but will give it a go - it's just black and white, so at least I don't have to worry too much about changing needles.

Timetodeal; What a sweet baby blanket I bet that took a long time.

Coxy; Had to smile at your remark that some people find x stitch is antisocial, are all your friends going to leave their mobiles firmly in their pockets so they dont text etc, which I find most annoying when you're trying to have a convo:rotfl:

Nmm; your doggie is coming along smashing.

emslovesmickey; The back stitch will make the instruments 'pop' It is looking great even without.

why o why; That is one big piece of aida. I would get lost in that :rotfl:

Here is my tomato cross stitch.
