  • Good morning stitchers Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend even if the weather has turned more autumnal. Our garden was pleased about the rain :D

Without further ado here are the instructions for this year's Christmas exchange:
    1. The Exchange is open to all members of the Cafe but in order to minimise the risk of anything going wrong, not to newbies
    2. I will take sign ups until FRIDAY 31 OCTOBER
    3. If you want to take part pm me with your MSE name, your postal address, whether you would prefer to stitch a card, ornament or coaster or no preference, whether you would prefer to receive a card, ornament or coaster or no preference; anything your partner needs to know e.g. not a religious theme, avoid the colour blue etc; if you've taken part previously who were your partners (unless you don't mind)
    4. And just to make it clear - I don't pair people up because that requires an even number of participants; instead person A sends to person B who sends to person C and the last person on the list sends to person A
    5. It does make it easier if most people have no preference :-)
    6. I will collate the information and send you the details of who you are stitching for by MONDAY 3rd NOVEMBER; please note that this means I will be sending your address to your partner and also that I will keep it until after the exchange has been completed successfully
    7. Your exchange piece must be mailed BETWEEN SATURDAY 29th NOVEMBER AND FRIDAY 5th DECEMBER. It's a good idea to take a photo before you mail it
    8. You must post a message in the Cafe as soon as you receive your package
    9. You must take a photo of what you have received and either include it in a post or upload to our Flickr group
    10. Please don't include anything else with your stitched piece except perhaps a gift tag or a small printed card if you are sending an ornament or coaster; I've added this because I've seen these sort of exchanges get difficult when some stitchers start to include other gifts (with the best of intentions) and it puts off others who aren't able to do this
    11. Let me know asap if there are any problems which might mean a delay or even you dropping out
Have I missed anything? Any questions?

      12. Gosh, nmm, the idea of getting all my stash in one box. Tricksie would be right in my case, it would need to be a *very* big one.

Yes, moving is a very helpful decluttering stimulus. I try to keep my stuff (of all sorts) within reasonable limits anyway, but this is an additional help. To be honest, the biggest issue is books. We must have about 1000 between us and Sir said it was something like 40 supermarket banana boxes worth last time. If we can cut it down to around 25-30, that will be a big improvement. Naturally, I've bagged a Kindle reader for my anniversary pressie next June - that will clear one Ikea 80cm shelving unit off almost completely.

I'm also trying to clear as much other stuff as poss. Surplus clothes have almost completely gone and I'm working on more areas...

        Beautiful and very moving
(sorry that wasn't meant to be a pun :o)

I've had some replies re the Christmas Exchange so it will definitely happen.

I'm not going to reply to each pm as that clogs up my pm allowance. Instead I will do a weekly update of who has signed up with a reminder for anyone else who wants to join in the fun
It certainly feels as though Christmas is on the way now - it was really cold this morning

Just the day for staying home and stitching but work wouldn't accept that as a valid reason for staying off :D

        Hi everyone,

Just finished my knitted scarecrow so I'm now back to stitching! Some lovely work going on in the cafe.

Sweetcarer - did you decide to go to the craft group? I really enjoy my knitting club and have made some good friends there.

Pm2326 - lovely cute snowman decoration. My vote would also be for the historical sampler - I have three Christmas charts of theirs on my to do list!

JCS1 - lovely job by the framer. Your work is stunning and how lovely that the village will get to see it on display.

Nmm - lovely update on RM. Good luck with your move.

Fos - thanks again for setting up the Christmas exchange, much appreciated.
