  • Good morning everyone

Hope you all managed at least a few stitches at the weekend.

This is my weekly update on the 2014 Christmas Exchange.

    I have had messages from:
    sweetcarer
    mrs moneypenny
    maria and the imps
    nmm
    coxy
    blue eyed girl

so that is 7 of us taking part including me :D

If anyone else wants to join in here is the original email

Without further ado here are the instructions for this year's Christmas exchange:
The Exchange is open to all members of the Cafe but in order to minimise the risk of anything going wrong, not to newbies
I will take sign ups until FRIDAY 31 OCTOBER
If you want to take part pm me with your MSE name, your postal address, whether you would prefer to stitch a card, ornament or coaster or no preference, whether you would prefer to receive a card, ornament or coaster or no preference; anything your partner needs to know e.g. not a religious theme, avoid the colour blue etc; if you've taken part previously who were your partners (unless you don't mind)
And just to make it clear - I don't pair people up because that requires an even number of participants; instead person A sends to person B who sends to person C and the last person on the list sends to person A
It does make it easier if most people have no preference :-)
I will collate the information and send you the details of who you are stitching for by MONDAY 3rd NOVEMBER; please note that this means I will be sending your address to your partner and also that I will keep it until after the exchange has been completed successfully
Your exchange piece must be mailed BETWEEN SATURDAY 29th NOVEMBER AND FRIDAY 5th DECEMBER. It's a good idea to take a photo before you mail it
You must post a message in the Cafe as soon as you receive your package
You must take a photo of what you have received and either include it in a post or upload to our Flickr group
Please don't include anything else with your stitched piece except perhaps a gift tag or a small printed card if you are sending an ornament or coaster; I've added this because I've seen these sort of exchanges get difficult when some stitchers start to include other gifts (with the best of intentions) and it puts off others who aren't able to do this
Let me know asap if there are any problems which might mean a delay or even you dropping out
Have I missed anything? Any questions?

lovely pic JCS1 but dont envy the backstitch...

I started my xmas sampler but the fabric is too light so white doesnt show up. Decided to stop and do something else until I find a more suitable fabric.

That said, I've had a poorly tummy for 3 days so no stitching done as too uncomfortable to sit in the correct position to stitch

    Hello everyone

Time to share a wee update with you all.

Band 12 complete - not easy to get it all in one photo now - I have tried too.

    Close up
    111_1806_zps361b3235.jpg

This band contained upright rice stitch (the outer edge), should of been diamond eyelet stitches but I misread instruction and done diamond smyrna stitches and in the middle I did upright cross stitches instead of the upright rice stitches again.

So another stitch has been added to my wee stitches book - upright rice stitch.

    Another great update sweetcarer :T

Backstitch is so effective and really makes a lovely pic. Is it for yourself JCS1?

  • LOVE that vase of roses, JCS1! Kudos on a grand scale!

I often think, 'Oh no!' to back stitch, but never find it so bad once I just get on with it. :)

PS Anyone know why some of our sig lines have gone pear shaped??
    Elizabeth :)
