OK, been mulling over for a few days:
    • If I wanted to post on Pin Interest I would do so myself
    • I'm fully aware that anyone can search and find pictures on here, I have no issue with that. But posting pictures automatically to another site is against the Privacy Policy in the T&C's of MSE as the clause only mentions text. I agreed to these T&C's when I signed up, MSE don't appear to be keeping their side.
    • Intellctual Property Rights/Copyright issues where we have stitched our own designs.
    • No control over what pictures get pinned - a few of us took part in the Sandy Hook squares and posted pictures on here and everyone was fully aware of the context (and people often stated how difficult they were to stitch and how tears were shed during - myself included). I would not want these being pinned to a board without the context (and especially where friends/family of the victims could find them and see them being used to "promote" another website)
    • Similar to above with personalised gifts we make, such as baby samplers, wedding cards, etc, with names and dates on. We also tend to post progress pics (reasonably) safe in the knowledge that the person concerned doesn't go on MSE, this is widening the possibility of someone seeing a gift whilst it's a WIP
    • Our hard work being used to promote MSE, where we wouldn't necessarily get any credit.
    • Lack of consultation/asking if it's ok before going ahead and setting it up
I know some of the above isn't fully rational :rotfl:(and probably goes totally against the quote of "happy to hear genuine, well-formed objections") but as you can probably tell I'm annoyed

Well said! I too am mostly annoyed by the cavalier way this was announced as a fait accompli but also by many of the ther points you made. :T

    :j:T:j Well done nmm :j:T:j

So proud of you, persevering with it, letting us lot come into your world and share it with you.

I know there is a lot going on in the cafe just now with the pintrest thing - I just feel it is bad as they just assumed we would all be ok with it. (I like JCS reasons - very well put together). I hope we don't loose the effect the cafe has, I feel it is like a real cafe with a bunch of mates coming together, having a cross stitch, having a b*tch, encouraging each other and generally being there. Thank you girls, for everything, you have helped me gain a wee bit more confidence - made me feel like I can do something (from being told always a failure, and made to feel it by life at times).

I have no photos so far, not far from finishing a band in the twisted band sampler, and there might be couple of more stitches for my wee stitch book due to it - diamond four-side stitch and sprat's head corner stitch. In the learning sampler I am doing the letters L-P, in descending colours, so not as complete with this band.

I have also been asked by one of the girls at work, could I do a birth sampler for her other kid (done one when she had her wee boy last year). The only thing is - I have the pattern but the threads I used for hers was ones I had about the house, now I can't find the pattern I wrote them down on but I do have the pattern on the computer and it has the recommended threads. I was thinking, as the stitch is for an older child - it might look a bit different from the younger one anyway. I don't know, might have to talk to the lass and see what she thinks.

Well the sun is out, so I might get a wash done today, wee short week at work, off Thursday - taking hubby to hospital (easier to ask for a days leave than ask for special) and Friday I am off as I a bit friggatriskaidekaphobia

Keep well everyone, till next time,

    sweetcarer ;)

I also hope the cafe continues as I would really miss you all if it closed due to lack of "customers"

I hasn't realised it was Friday 13th this month. I think there are a few this year :(

I finished my To Bee or not to Bee sampler last night. Want to press it before photo though.

Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday. I'm hoping this sunshine will last at least until my washing is dry but forecast isn't good

Wow he really is beautiful! What's next?

I too always feel a little sad when I finish project I have really enjoyed stitching.

I finished page 3 of 4 of Tete a Tete last night and made a little start on page 4 with threads I had parked. Not sure what will be next. The only other WIP I have is the traditional sampler I started on holiday in March so may crack on with that or might start Starry Starry Night. It is solid stitching so thinking of doing it on a piece of bluey grey aida I have had in my stash for nearly twenty years

Been to the boot fair this morning but didn't buy anything. Out for lunch with friends today but should manage a couple of hours stitching tonight and I don't have to get up at half past five tomorrow so can stay up past nine o'clock :)

Hope it stays sunny wherever you are today!

    Hi

Totally agree re the pininterest thing. Now I don't create my own designs but I am a very private person and only want to share with those I know and trust won't abuse that. I think it's bad to say well you post on here so it's fair game!!

However I also love the cafe and would be very sad if we stopped posting on the thread because of this.

The fantastic thing is Nmm congratulations on finishing your masterpiece. He is truly stunning and so worth all the effort you put in to him. Hoping you will do a framed pic as I would love to see the final final pic :T
