Great finishes *louise*, you are very gifted in the crafty department :D

Lovely update sweetcarer, it's best to keep busy at times like this so work is probably a good thing, take care.

    OT ;)
Ruth_honey, glad you found your scarf, I finished mine too then decided it was too short and not wide enough, so I unravelled it all. However I learnt how to make a center pull ball of wool with a toilet roll tube and created some lovely fingerless gloves to keep my freezing cold hands warm when stitching/using computer. Here are the gloves and i'm currently turning my granny squares into a bag :) There is a crochet thread on MSE but I don't like leaving the caf!, its too nice in here

  • mrs-m titanic is lovely. You must be very pleased with it, and the tiger is going to be nice. I like doing animals and birds.

louise all your projects are brilliant. You must spend all your time stitching! I particularly like the lap tray-it is very unusual.

maria I don't know how you manage to fit everything in. Makes me tired to read all you are doing!

sweetcarer it is lovely to see you back. Just take it one day at a time. I love all the different stitches on your sampler.

nme I could do with those lovely gloves today. It is so cold here.

I haven't got much stitching done in the last few weeks. I find my eyes get tired when I am doing it for too long in the evenings. I think it is the contrast between the dark nights and the daylight lamp I use, can only do about an hour at a time.
  • Love the new stitches Sweetcareer and awesome gloves nmm.

Thanks Mrs M and Hippipal, have told my assistant leader tonight, who made me feel guilty by saying if we can't find someone to replace me we will have to close the unit :( Next to tell the district commissioner!

That's not nice, at least you volunteered in the first place, lets hope someone else does come along. BTW I love your keyring forgot to say that earlier :)

When our guides had the same problem, they decided to ask the parents to help out on a rota. We did one week in 8 each to keep it going. Maybe they could try something similar.
They should be saying thank you for the time you have done, not make you feel guilty because you feel you have to stop. I'm sure you have put a lot of thought into your decision.
  • Hi,
    Marie
Your little key ring is lovely,so sweet and dainty.
Don't let them make you feel guilty, you and your family come first,it sounds as though it was a hard descion to make.hope they remember all the hard work you done and say thank you.
    Sweetcarer
The stitching is exquisite,I couldn't do that in a million years,I love embroidery but I can't seem to grasp how to do it properly.
Glad to see you back at the cafe, just be kind to yourself and bit by bit it the days get better.

Louise, they look so professional, do you sell them at craft fairs etc ?

I have only ever found a couple that I have been able to sell at. I bag the cards though just in case something comes up- at least that way they are kept neat & ready to go. I would never get through all the ones I have for personal use.

Thank you SO much for sending the variegated threads, they arrived this afternoon so I hope to get back to my DMC at the weekend.

I have come to the decision over the last few days that I don't really have the time I need to give to my rainbows group any more so as sad as it makes me I think I'm going to leave. What with the 2 courses I'm doing, 2 days at the school, school governor, being my granddads full time career, the 3 imps and the husband, something's got to give :(

Wow Maria, we have a fair amount in common...hubby and 3 kids, run a youth group, doing 2 courses and helping at the local school! Spooky....

I'm not a carer though, that takes a lot of love and dedication so respect to you for that. It's not fair that the leader at the rainbows has made you feel guilty about your decision to leave, the should realise how much you have got going on and support you :(
