    Sorry Girls,

I have been awol the last couple of weeks. Have been lurking but not posting and whats worse not much stitching.

But I did remember to bring home my blue sampler from work. It is part two - will be doing part three this year, as part of 14 in 2014.

Oh if any one is near a British Heart Foundation they have retractable tape measures - approx 1.5m long for only 49p - always handy for your bag for measuring fabrics or frames.

I do belong to a couple of facebook pages, but withdrew from some - too much temptation.

Lovely looking works in here - well done.

    Kind wishes to all,

    sweetcarer ;)

  • That is looking great! I love Bothy threads (although it may be a while before i do a cut-thru again) my next one after i finish the photo stitch is a Vintage one from Bothy

    http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/Vintage__BOT-XV1.aspx

That's lovely and will be good when you get on to it, won't take long to sew up at all. :)
Out of curiosity, do people work on one project at a time, or have a number of WIPs on the go at once? I must admit i prefer to do one at a time so that i dont get distracted.

Depends on my projects. The Dictionary of Tea, travels reasonably well and as it's not for my mother then I can take it when I visit her. If I am sewing something that is for someone else (like mum) then I will take a smaller project that's on the list to do instead sot hat I am making progress on something. I have a knitting throw to do at some point and that also travels very well.

I try not to start too many things at once, otherwise I won't get them done.
kezbabybabe Shame you don't have anyone to stitch a wedding sampler for you. Love Dictionary of Tea. At the risk of seeming obsessed with coasters I couldn't help thinking that the individual designs would make a lovely set of coasters :)

That's an idea. :) Oh someone said about doing it for my anniversary, maybe one day. Going to focus on getting my project list right down.

    Sunday Update:

Was fortunate enough to get those lines done on Monday for Oddit-tea. On to Fruit-tea now, haven't done any stitching for the last couple of days. You can really tell when you haven't picked it up for a while, can't you? :o

I used to shop in Lu%h all the time and as I didn't have a shop local to me, I would always stock up. Now I do and I rarely go in! Its still very expensive and instead of having change from my voucher (£40), I had to pay £12 odd on top  and I still didn't get everything I wanted..... I find the staff a bit too pushy and there are no more of the free gifts/promotions that they used to run. Its s shame as the products they sell are lovely but really are they worth the price they charge??

So a busy day planned so no time for sitting on the sofa today but my morning routine has changed in the week so I will find myself with extra time, its just deciding whether I spend it stitching/reading or doing housework (thus freeing up housework time at the weekend).

Have a lovely day all x

i agree with every word you wrote, this year i think i lost a bit of love for lush, ive been a huge lush fan since way back when (in their cosmetics to go days) but when i saw the prices this year i was:eek: if DH put a bottle of bubble bath in the trolly in morrys for £10 i'd go mad but because we are in lush that price is supposed to be ok. i ended up just buying a couple of bottles of snowfairy as the girls love it then came out.

not had the puter on since thursday so loads to cath up on.

fos sorry my inbox on here is full, i must clear some space, yes that is fine - i was worried when i saw some admin emails this morning before i read your message but all is clear now;)

love everyones updates and photos, some really gorgeous work.

watched titanic yesterday which reminded me i must start stitching again

  • Hi Everyone,

I've not been on here for a while now but I've re read the thread and I'm so jealous of all your gorgeous work.

Since I've last been on my haberdashery company is going from strength to strength but I'm still doing my old job as well so it means me working 6 days, the plan is to hopefully give up my job and concentrate on getting a shop but until then I have very little time to stitch.

But I do have 2 ongoing cross stitch projects and a tapestry project.

I'm wondering, I have a floor standing frame for my tapestry, is it possible to use with cross stitch????
I'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!

FOs/MrsMP - my son was really pleased. His first question was how did yoj manage to stitch that without me seeing it? He is always interested in what I'm stitching so I think this was the biggest surprise for him. After the surprise of it being done without him knowing his next question was did I design it myself. I showed him Robins etsy site - bad mistake!!!!! He now wants the DNA helix stitched. Might try to get ghis done flr Easter for him, will have to see. The problem we have is that he is running out of wall space in his bedroom and we currently have the following to frame: bug, turtle, gecko and this big bang one.

Kezbabybabe - your dictionary of tea is coming along great. Love seeing the progress pictures.

Last night I started a cross stitch kit that was one of my Mums, I thought it was Henry VIII with his wives staninf around him but it's actually the one shown in my avatar, it has 3 wives on either side. It's on 16 count which is a bit small for me now, but I have managed to finish one of Henry's legs. I will try to post weekly. The idea atthe moment is to stitch a character then stop and do something else in between before stitching another character.

Glad to hear the business is going well. As far as I know you can use your floor stand for cross stitch. Is it a stand with a clamp on the top that a frame then clamps into? If so just clamp your cross stitch frame in instead of your tapestry one.
