BEG - she's beautiful, the mount and frame really set her off. I agree you need to let others see her and not hide her in your bedroom.

Have lost my voice and eyes hurt, bl**dy pollen. Have got Dad's postponed 80th party tomorrow so have marzipaned and iced his cake and made 3 dozen cup cakes, all whilst feeling rough. Never mind it will be worth it. It's 4 months tomorrow since his birthday so we are wishingnhim a hapoy 80 1/3 birthday.

    Thanks Ailsb.

Hope you feel better tomorrow so that you can enjoy Dad's birthday celebration. Well done with all those cupcakes in this heat. Just remember we are all partial to a cupcake or two in the Cafe ;). Hope you all have a lovely time. Does Dad know about the party or is it a surprise? We did a surprise tea party for Mum's 80th (she's not into the whole party thing especially if she is the centre of attention) but she thoroughly enjoyed it. Just thinking - that was nearly six years ago now - doesn't time fly :D.

Thanks ladies. Have been trying to work out how we can display her in the lounge/dining room. Not so easy with the frame being so large. This also means that if she is downstairs I will still need something for the bedroom wall to complete the refurbishment as hubby says it still looks 'unfinished'. Decisions decisions ........

bargainfinder - sorry to hear you didn't pass this time. Good luck for the next one.

Quite overcast here this morning but supposed to get out by lunch time. Mum needs quite a bit of height lopping off some conifers before they get really unmanageable so that might be on todays agenda.

    Have a good day everyone.

first chance to sit down to look thro it, thanks for the original work Louise.

Cross Stich Crazy Issue 180 - September 2013[/B]

Free Gift 1 - 2 'Country Diary' Butterfly cards. Perfectly nice but I'm just not keen on this style.

quite nice, can get a couple of cards out of them.

Free Gift 2 - Greetings pack. Basically words to stick on the cards. I really like this, it's something a bit different and I will use them. :T

I'd like to say I'd use them, the reality is they will probably go in the craft box and never be seen again.

Cat in Hammock - This is a Margaret Sherry. Lovely summery design but not something I would stitch due to the BABS

    cute but not for me

CS Quickie - Another one for my collection. My son still loves waiting for these to arrive, that will be us halfway through now :)

    cute as always

Celebstitch - Benedict Cumberbatch. I'm afraid I had no clue who this was. Apparenty he is in Sherlock. Needless to say I won't be stitching this

    who?

50 Nursery Rhyme ideas.- LOVE these!!! Baby cards, Baby blocks, afghans, mini pictures - so much can be done with them. These will be kept and used

these are lovely............ now if only people would start having babies again!!!!

Laundry Set - Washing on a line, making a cothanger cover, laundry or peg bag. I like the designs but I'm too rubbish at normal sewing to make them up into anything :o

i like these too, but like you wouldn't use them.

Craft Xtra - 2 first day at school designs. Cute but I won't need them for anyone.

i like these, maybe a tradition i can start in our house with DS1 starting school in september!

Crazy for...school. Larger school motifs - pencils, test tubes, schoolbag etc

    see above

Butterfly ABC - Pastel shades, very simple to stitch

cute but only so many abc's you need!

    crazy angels
i did not know you could get fray stopping spray!!!

like the idea of the jigsaw puzzle stitch but the design is vile.

Weekend - Campervan designs. These vans seem to be really popular. Not really my thing but they are very bright and cheery looking, no backstitch either.

nice and bright but not my cuppa tea.

Bookmarks - I like the idea of these and might stitch one for my bookworm DD :) Although not the 'sleep less, read more' one because I already have to keep checking her and take her books off her at bedtime so she doesn't try and read using the streetlights! :rotfl:

i like these (and yes I'm a page turner) but i think they would fall out the book even more then a bookmark.

Country Cottage - Very quaint and pretty but not for me

hmmm, maybe for grandparents for christmas?

Matchbox mice -Little mice made up into tiny 'pillows' with covered matchboxes and stitched 'bedding'. Cute but if I'm totally honest...it would be too much faff for me :o

    nah

Pg 69 has some tips on successful framing. I put two pieces in last week, will cost £52 so it's good to frame things yourself where you can.

Floral greeting cards -They are flowers, they are for cards. Not much more I can go on about. Not for me though.

    uuurggghhh

Challenge Lucie - Duck wearing a straitjacket, Ski jumper, long tailed tit, tattoo machine (!) suffragette motto, Kerry blue terrier....some random stuff there.

    ermmmm............ no

    next issue

i like the hot air balloons, weekend break and halloween ones dislike - vintage hearts, office abc, autumn tags
ANOTHER sombunny design!! - really, how many is that now??
    more cakes - pfft
party is nice but too much faffing.
fairies are cute, may use them
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

    Hi ladies.

Ericsmum. How is your Mum doing? Hope she's ok.

Maria. A couple of keep cool strategies I have heard of are standing a frozen bottle of water in front of a fan and wearing wet t-shirts/tops (rung out well, of course)
Haven't tried them myself but this is what a friend of hubbys does when on holiday abroad.
I don't like this warm weather much but I am doing ok so far with a fan in every room I use and have got some bug mesh attached to the french doors so I can open them when stitching. Even though it's been warm for awhile now I have come out in a heat rash the last couple of days, itches like mad!

PAP. The heart is lovely, I really like it! Look forward to seeing the french elements come together, don't forget a pic! :D

JCS. Now there's a contented cat if ever there was one! :D

Louise. The Mermaid is lovely. I like to do backgrounds in half stitches too, I think it looks nicer and actually makes it look like background, sort of like 2 layers.

BEG. Sleeping Beauty is stunning! Beautiful! She looks like a photograph or painting.
The frame and mount set her off really well. Have to admit the blue wouldn't have been a colour I would have thought of using but it looks perfect.

Ailsb. Hope you are feeling better and can enjoy your Dads party.

Mrsmp. Look forward to seeing the garden bench finished and framed.

    As for me.
A little something to make you all :D

We done a car boot in last Sundays heat, it wasn't too bad, didn't take much ££ as I think the heat either kept people in doors or away at the coast.
Anyway, I noticed on the stall opposite they had a couple of nice fairy ornaments. They were only 50p each so I bought them and stashed them in the car. Got home and gave them a quick wash and kind of thought they somehow didn't look right.

I then twigged what was wrong......neither of them have wings :rotfl:
Nevermind, they are pretty enough without and hubby has made a pair of paper wings for one of them :D
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

At last Noah's Ark is finally framed and will be on its way to London later this afternoon!!

Decided not to risk posting it to my sister in law and brother so had to wait until my brother came home so that I could send it home safely with him!!

Hope they like it when they open it later today, shame Nicholas is almost one but at least he may appreciate it a little more!!

Love Noah's Ark Bobbis Mummy. The colours and framing are just perfect.

Failed in my challenge to restart Lets Do Wine today. In my defence though we were at Mums until 5pm after a long session of cutting trees and bushes, several trips to the rubbish tip, discovering the lawnmower has packed up yet again (spent too much on repairing it last year so that has been tipped too), came home and had to give the car a massive vac to get rid of all the greenery (despite the fact that I thought I had covered it quite well), tackled a pile of ironing, had a bath as I was a proper sweaty betty by this point, then collapsed on sofa with the first proper meal of the day (I know what a slob) and I just haven't been able to tackle anything else since. Oh well tomorrow is another day so they say ......

Oh must tell you this one - I left Sleeping Beauty at Mum's for a friend to see and my brother called me tonight to tell me how much he liked it and said 'well its easy to see you have too much time on your hands' - the bloomin cheek of it. Don't worry I will get my own back.

    Take care everyone

PS Ailsb - did you do an abstract tree at one time?
