Sorry I've not posted for nearly a week, I have kept up to date kind of, I've still been stitching and making good progress

This morning I've had some devastating news that a good friend has passed away very suddenly and was found at his home this morning at the age of 37. I've known him about 12 years and now his little girl is in the same class as my son. I'm absolutely gutted

What dreadful news. Sending you best wishes and comforting thoughts

As part of my clear out of the spare room I have a pile of charts and some kits I will never stitch so am thinking of listing them on EB.

I know that some of you buy from there (and may sell as well) so I am hoping for some advice. What in your opinion is the difference between cross stitch charts and cross stitch patterns? I really don't understand why there are 2 categories ........
As least it is obvious where the kits will be listed. :D

    Hi ladies.

Louise. Really nice finishes, I love them!

Winnie. Sorry to read about your friend, hope you are ok.

    L&M. Very nice party bags.

    MoS. Nice bookmark.

Ruth. Good to see you back! Hope you feel better soon.

Gildius! Stunning! You must be very pleased with it?!

    Bargainfinder. Welcome!

Keza. Love the sampler, it's beautiful.

Nmm. Nice update, it's coming along great.

FOS. I have no idea what the difference is between a pattern and chart. All I can say is I would personally use the word chart if I was searching for something and would only think to use the word pattern if it came up in my search. (which it did when I just done a quick search for cross stitch chart)
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

I think it's an American thing, they tend to refer to charts as patterns. Though prepared to be totally wrong :rotfl:

Seriously though - well done for sticking with it, I would have been bored of all the light colours by now but the fur is looking really effective :T

Another explanation is that knitters refer to 'knitting patterns' so I think patterns and charts have just got lumped together over the years as people branch out and try new crafts

    Evening stitchers

Been a really hot day here, don't want to complain but do have to say I prefer cold weather, at least you can layer up then :rotfl:

I decided it was too hot to sit out in the garden and wanted a small project to do whilst finishing off the wolves so made this bookmark for my eldest DD. it came free with a magazine and was supposed to say for a special Mum but seeing as mine is no longer with us I thought my DD would love it. She is only 17 but absolutely loves it, I got a great big hug and a 'mummy bear, you are the best'! :j. She always calls me 'mummy bear' as if they do anything that might make me cross, I say 'do you REALLY want to wake that bear' :D

It read...Jo, made with love Mum xx

    Lovely bookmark

I'm with you in the "don't like it too hot" camp although I try not to complain and have developed strategies for keeping the house cool when the sun is intense
  • Oh do share your stragies flowers we have moved to a new build top floor flat, with all the winter cold busting you can imagine as well as all the flats around us sharing there heat, so as you can imagine it is like an oven at the moment. I can't open the windows wide because of the kids (we are 3 floors up) we have the front room curtains closed most of the time because the sun rises at one end of the room and sets at the other but it is so hot! Cold showers galor!
