love the look of your next project, and cant wait tosee update photos for that. I do like blackwork
Completely agree - it wouldn't matter if we all did the same design (unlikely though that is) Your partner will only receive your stitched piece so it won't matter a jot if someone else has something similar on display in her house. And your partner won't have a clue because you haven't mentioned which design is similar to the one you have done and no one except me knows who is sending to who. So yours will still be a lovely surprise when ........ opens it.

Just catching up during my lunch break at work (don't usually work weekends but this is our busiest time of year so have to do some extra days).
coffee great progress; I can see the design coming through.
mos what's a "window quilt"? Very intrigued
maria good luck with the new advent calendar - will we get update photos?
mrsmp great progress on the tyre and toolbox; good luck with the logo and fixing the mistake
coxy beautiful blackwork sampler - should be ideal for your Virgo sensibilities
Don't think I ever said how stunning your flower shop looked when framed. Very poor that the framer didn't do a good job - did you pay the full price or did he reduce the cost for his failure? Did he lace the piece or just stick it down? Framers that do needlework well are hard to find. The one I use isn't cheap but at least I know they do a good job which after many hours of stitching is worth it.
I've answered in more detail separately but absolutely no need to stitch another piece for the exchange. It will still be a lovely surprise for the recipient
Enjoy Bruges
I think that planning and preparing for starting a new project is almost as much fun as finishing (though that may contribute to the fact that at any time I have quite a few UFOs and WiPs - you have been warned)
louise what a an awful run of bad luck and to have to spend on unplanned items at this time of year is a double whammy
Looking forward to seeing your framed pieces
beg Love the poppy card - we have some poppies just like that in the front garden - they only last for a few days when they flower each year but I love them. And how lovely that your SIL appreciated it properly. Lovely card as well - really sets off the stitching
I'm not usually a huge fan of HAED designs but this one has just come through on the newsletter from Arts and Designs and I love it. Huge amount of work though due to all the beautiful detail

I think it may appeal to some others here as wellI've pinned it onto my Pinterest board but have resisted the urge to buy (so far anyway)

Wow, this cafe moves fast! Now I remember why I couldn't keep up with you all!
I've asked for http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/Countryside-Carousel__FAY-FW9.aspx
It's not a big cat, but it's colourful and not-Christmassy. I really like all the AOY designs though I've never stitched one. I figured this could be a good opportunity.
Thank you to everyone who had a look and gave me ideas. There were some really good ones, especially that one with the 4 big cat heads on it (Sorry I forgot who posted it).
Louise, I hope life gets less expensive for you soon.
Did anyone go to Soulie's funeral? I hope it went as well as it could have done.
Sorry, I forgot all the other things I wanted to reply to. I hope everyone is OK.0 -

Hi fos, I have attached a link for the window quilts. I changed my design slightly in that I put it up using a spring loaded curtain rail and I sewed ties onto it so that you can roll it up. My DD's only have blinds in their rooms and had complained about the cold but since putting this up my DD said it has been warmer.
I made it from left over prices of fabric, an old mattress protector, a £1 shower curtain and an old duvet for the backing so probably cost me about £7 in all

Sorry I haven't been around much, have been spending time with DD1 and our new grandson, she had a c section so can't drive yet. Haven't touched any stitching for a month, but I'm not pressuring myself. This time of year is just so busy.Anyway nearly finished my exchange piece and just need to get a couple of bits today whilst I am out to finish it off. DH and I are going xmas shopping down to Livingstone. My parents are looking after the boys so we are off out for lunch too - so excited it's like being a grown up again lol.
Loving all the pictures of your finished articles.0 -
Elliep, what a great design, I did an AOY for Brednall and found it pretty straight forward to stitch, came together quickly too if I recall.
BEG, i'm grateful our car has the 2 best inventions a heated windscreen and heated seats :jCross Stitch Cafe Member No1WIP: Cross Stitch: - Crochet:0 -
I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. I haven't finished my exchange piece yet so that's this weekend's project..... It is coming together now (you know where you start adding the odd stitch here and the odd stitch there and suddenly you look at your work and it looks completely different?!)
Next weekend is sending weekend isn't it? Are we trusting snail mail or are peeps using recorded snail mail?0 -
beg - yep Newbridge in only about 6-7 miles from Livingstone, infact we went that way today as it's really icy here and we normally go through the Avon gorge so felt it was safer to go the motorways instead. makes little difference in time and petrol.
FOS - wow that HAED is amazing, but not for the faint hearted lol. I love doing those puzzles on the computer/DS.
Elliep thats a beautiful AOY. I am sure you will have fun stitching it.
Maria wow you are getting through the calendar quickly. Looking forward to seeing the finished results.
MOS the window quilts are really unusual I haven't seen anything like that before and very MSE.
Hippipal ooh Linlithgow is a beautiful town. We love going to the palace in the summer with a picnic and the boys love running about the huge open space there. I see they are going to put a new statue up to Mary Queen of Scots in the palace which will be nice.
Nmm have to admit I love the heated windscreen on my car too but quite envious of the heated seats. I felt like I had a soggy bottom the other day (no I hadn't been baking pastry) but it was just my seat being cold.
flateric have to admit I am using recorded delivery as I don't trust the regular post with pressies.
Had a good day shopping and got loads of things we were looking for. Had a lovely lunch out and still full up so just tea for the boys done tonight, really feel like I had a day off. Even managed an hours stitching when we came back as DS2 fell asleep watching mickey mouse (clearly the grandparents wore him out lol). Hopefully get my exchange finished off tonight watching strictly.0
