  • I've been looking at doing some xstitch Christmas cards, I've found this one on amazon, it looks really good but scared it'll be too complicated?

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Nutmeg-Company-Christmas-Stitch/dp/B00DC1VSDM/ref=sr_1_76?ie=UTF8&qid=1381860778&sr=8-76&keywords=christmas+cross+stitch

That is a lovely design. If you're worried about it being too complicated why don't you try a few of those little ones that come with the cross stitch mags first? They seem to have a fair few designs at the moment that would be good for cards, although i think this one is nicer than the ones i have seen in the mags at the mo!

Loving everyone's updates, Louise i loved the my husband one, very funny!
    Mrs T M, belated congrats!
Sweetcarer i'm loving the spring sampler
Pass on my best wishes to Soulie as well.

The entire rest of the family had kids when they were 'young,' under 25. I'm 28 now, will be 29 when the lo gets here. My mom was 34 (nearly 35) when I was born. I don't mind, and I actually think I'm closer to my mom for it.

I'm really looking forward to Christmas this year. I am thinking of stitching my mom a poem that will let her know that I'm pregnant, sending it to her, and making her get on skype before she opens it. I'll be 12 weeks and will hopefully have a scan near the beginning of December, so I'm hoping to send her a pic as well. It will be the first grandchild on both sides of the family, so lots of travelling to tell people the news in December! I can call all of my family in the States for next to nothing (DH works for a local telecommunications provider), so I'll be doing the rounds the day after we tell mom.

Oh, you are a young thing:D I was 38 when I had my first and 40 for the second.

That would be a wonderful way to let your mom know! You may want to video her reaction.

Sorry to have gone on so much. On a stitchy front Rhaben I like the look of the reindeer, how do they work? I assume you stitch all the parts then have to sew them together and stuff them.

Have finished the Rock symbol and done one of the arrows between the Spock and Rock symbol. I can only stitch when , my son isn't in the room and seeing as his xbox is connected to the telly he stays in the room most of the time. He's got Explorers tonight so hopefully I'll manage an hours stitching.

You assume correctly. That is exactly how they are made. The pic of the Doctor is finished with the cross stitch. His head is 4 pieces and his body is 2. I hand sew them together, so the aida doesn't show. I assemble the head and then the body and then connect the two.

The deer pic, you are seeing one side of the body, one side of the face and one ear back. The deer is going to be made of 21 pieces (the body is 3, head 4, ears 4, tail, 2, hoof bottoms 4, antlers 4) I finished the other body side and am working on the back of the head now.

My hubby is American - I am Scottish. We live in Scotland. He was born in Michigan and was brought up in Georgia near the tri state line - so I have been to North Carolina.

Oddly enough, some of my family came from Scotland (back in the 1700s), we are from the Brodie clan. My mom was born a Brodie.

This is the poem that I want to cross stitch and send my mom (and if I have time, cross stitch and take to DH's parents) - This was kindly 'borrowed' from someone on a different message board, but I love it!

I do not have a face to see,
    Or put inside a frame.
I do not have soft cheeks to kiss,
    I don't yet have a name.
You can't yet hold my tiny hands,
    Nor whisper in my ear.
It's still too soon to sing a song,
    Or cuddle me so near.
But all will change come 20 June 2014,
That's when the say I'm due.
I'm you new grandson or grandaughter,
    I can't wait till I meet you.
All I ask between now and then,
Is your patience while I grow.
I promise I'll be worth the wait,
Because of all the love we'll know.
So what I have to give you now,
Is a wish to you from me.
I cannot wait to be a part
    Of this wonderful family.

Oh, she will LOVE it. It brought tears to my eyes.

salford girl i love that snowglobe card, it may be a bit complicated but if you take your time and follow the instructions it should be fine. it does look lovely and as Louise said you would hope the recipient would be impressed enough to keep it on display every year.

  • Good Morning Happy Stitchers

Congratulations Mrs_T_M, I am 41 now and my eldest will be 18 in 5 weeks time! My youngest will be 17 in May 2014, so I was 23 when I had my eldest and 25 when I had my youngest, when my DD went into hospital last week, the nursing staff kept asking her where her Mum was whilst I was sat with her :rotfl:

The Christmas globe looks absolutely gorgeous and I would love to stitch it but don't think I will have the time.

Here is an update on my Dad's Christmas stocking, do you think the hearts look OK next to the Dad, the original had 7 letters and 2 hearts but I needed to change that bit :o

A very overcast day here so I will need my light on for most of the day whilst stitching.

    Have a great day everyone.
