sounds brilliant, youve certainly filled your life with interesting things and put your family first with homeschooling and helping your husband with the susiness, so its lovely that you can now turn something you have a passion for into a business of your own.

BTW just noticed youve lost your newbie status so you should be able to post photos now.

ive been really bad today, i did my paid jobs some excercises and about an hours housework but since then all ive done is work in the stocking.

ive got to get ready for a govenors meeting at school tonight and sort a meal out for the boys. so id better do something.

Many congratulations. Summer babies are great - it's easier getting up when the nights are shorter plus as they get older they appreciate having Christmas and birthday presents well spaced :D

Oh yes! My birthday is at the end of January, so I know all about the "since your birthday is so close to Christmas, you only get one gift" thing. Honestly though, as a kid, I would have rather played with the box than the toy. :o

DH's birthday is at the beginning of June, so if the lo comes early, that will be his birthday present for that year! :rotfl:

I want to stitch some on the tiger (since I finished dicing the tomatoes! yipee! and have finished cleaning the kitchen and have hung out two loads of laundry), but I'm far too tired. I'm about to head back to bed until DH calls on his way home from work. Fixing a quick and very easy dinner tonight. Hoping to go for a walk after dinner, but it depends on how tired I am.

If anyone has any birth sampler patterns that they aren't using, let me know. I won't start on one until we know what we are having, but most of the free ones I've found don't strike my fancy too much. Knowing me though, I may just make one up with Nintendo characters. :o

    WooHoo!!!!:j

I'm not a "newbie" any more!

OK, here are a couple of WIP. The first one is going to be a doll of the Ninth Doctor (Doctor Who), and the second is the reindeer. Both are 3D pieces.

First of all, congratulations! What great news.

I'm like you with the birthday near Christmas (Dec 31) The gift thing used to happen to me as well. My husband's birthday is a week after mine, so he had it happen as well. We were determined not to have a kid near our birthdays' and had our first on in July.

Hopefully, you won't have a really hot summer. Living in the southern US, the summer heat and being largely pregnant was miserable.

I've been meaning to ask you, what part of North Carolina are you from/in if you don't mind me asking? I'm originally from a little town called Norwood, NC (about an hour ESE of Charlotte). I moved to the UK April of last year to be with my husband (who is British).

It took us a year of trying to get this one started, and honestly, I'm just glad I am pregnant. It took my mom 15 years of trying to have me, and I was worried that it would take a while for me to have one as well.

And the world keeps getting smaller...
So you know what I mean about the heat. I live in the northern part of the state, about an hour north of Raleigh on Kerr Lake. I'm not from here originally, I grew up outside of Washington, DC.

I know you are thrilled that it worked so much faster for you, than it did for your mom. I worry about my daughter (when she gets to that point in her life), her fraternal grandmother had difficulties in conceiving as well. I hope she takes after my side with her lady bits.
  • I seem to be very behind on replying to posts so apologies for length of this reply and also to anyone I have missed

mos 5 stockings by this Christmas seems very ambitious  But you'll get loads of encouragement here if you decide to go for it The first one already looks great
got your 2nd pm but not the first one

mrs milkybarkid Thanks for the heads up about the GoodNotes app I have downloaded it though I'm not really sure how to use it yet. I have a subscription to Just Cross Stitch which is about to expire so I think the electronic version is the best option for renewal

firefly Love the birth sampler Understand why you don't want to commit to the Christmas Exchange - it's supposed to be fun and won't be if you feel under pressure Maybe next year ?

pm Love the Panda and you can definitely see progress

coxy how disappointing to get such a negative reaction. I thought your designs were lovely and some of the girls would have been able to manage them. My DS taught his 8 year olds to cross stitch recently (using aida, needles and threads from my stash of course) and some even took materials home to work on by themselves

mrsmp your stocking will be stunning but I can see that it is a lot of work. Hope your friend will appreciate all the effort

Celtic Noel is fabulous My SiL would love me to stitch it again for her but although I enjoyed it I'm not sure I want to do all those beads and metallics for a 2nd time. And it's one of DH's favourites so I can't give it away either

nmm great progress and I couldn't see that the fabric was dirty

fe shame about the unpicking. Which Margaret Sherry are you starting?

    ailsb Happy anniversary for Thursday

Mrs TM Great charity shop finds and very generous to offer to share some of the charts you won't use. Unpicking is horrid and takes longer than stitching:( Pineapples were a great bargain as well :D I really like the cat alphabet - you would be able to use the individual letters for cards as well as stitching the whole sampler if you have friends or family who love cats (I'm guessing you do and certainly whoever donated all those kits must have been a cat lover)
I've only ever seen stitching books and magazines in charity shops, no kits. I have occasionally bought a picture from a CS for the frame and used it to frame some stitching

coffeeandstitches i agree with what has been said about no one being disappointed with your efforts but would hate for you to feel pressurised into taking part and not enjoy it

louise I have a GD who loves Hello Kitty so have been persuaded to stitch her a small design which she wants appliqued to her ballet shoes bag This wasn't on my schedule of stitching but I never have been able to resist requests from grandchildren :D

rhaben If you've converted your hobby into your job you are very lucky but I understand it must feel odd at times. Looking forward to when you can post your update pics. Thanks for latest chart patterns I ordered - all safely downloaded, saved and printed

shelly I liked the tall house design as well and love the one you have in your stash (I see it's now discontinued so good thing you bought it when available :D )
I sort of understand what you mean but as I have so many things I want to stitch I can't imagine running short of inspiration just because I've stitched one more

In spite of having visitors at the weekend I did manage to do some stitching on the Latin Dancers - there was some to do on the right hand side after all, some of my 2nd Shepherds Bush stocking and most of the Hello Kitty motif (as well as some clothing repairs brought by the Grandchildren)

And if the lo arrives in the middle of June it could be the ideal Father's Day present:D

What sort of birth sampler designs do you like? If you posted some links then someone might be able to help

my DS1 was born on his due date 21st Dec, it was a nightmare trying to sort out something for his 18th that near christmas, luckily he decided to have a games night with friends sleeping over. my DH is early jan so i always try and make sure their birthdays are kept seperate from christmas. The rest of us are spread through the year. Our eldest was born at the end of Nov and i always used to say the tree couldnt go up till after her birthday to keep it separate.

FoS, im sure my friend will appreciate the stocking and work in it shes a stitcher herself, i always love visiting her to admire the beautiful pieces she has up. JUst wish i could see her more often as she moved away when her and her first hubby split up.
