According to the comments on the Ladys blog page it came from a book called Classic Storybook Cross stitch by Gillian Souter. There are a couple of second handcopies on preloved and amazon. Hope this helps :-)

FOS - Thank you for your comment. It was worth the wait. I just wish I had made the butterflies a little bigger but then it never would have got finished:p

FAbB - I would love to have my projects professionally framed but after years of trying for a baby I am finally pregnant so all pennies have to go on baby stuff so I get creative with second hand frames. Took me agesto get it framed and I got a little mark on the material that will probably annoy me till the day I die....but heyho on to the next exciting project:j

Oh my silly me missed the most important bit of your post!!!! Sincere apologies if you thought I ignored your fantastic news!! Enjoy every minute of the next 17 weeks (hopefully you're having a trouble free pregnancy) and Enjoy every single second when your little man comes along as they grow far too quickly!! xx:)
  • actually got some stitching done this afternoon, my niece is really into drama and acting so i want to do her a star for her bedroom door for her birthday found a free pattern online so ive done the outline of the star to save printing the pattern outjust got to fill it in and add her name.

blue-eyed-girl that is so lovely. looks so neat and pretty.

emslovesmickey that piece must be talking such a long time. I hope to be able to do a large cross stitch at some point. too much of a beginner right now. I need way more practice

firefly369 beautiful design. It looks so nice framed. I framed a piece but it wasn't quite that neat. Again, need more practice!

Hopefully will be starting another cross stitch piece soon. Another sisters birthday coming up and I think she's going to get one of my amateur pieces as well.

Yes it is taking ages - i'm a relative newbie myself. Only started stitching in May this year

Update on birth sampler, there is a bit hidden under the frame (not keen on frames, much prefer a hoop but this piece is too wide)

Just a quick update before work. I managed to do about 20 stitches on my 11.12.13 piece.

For those that don't know I decided to do a Nativity ABC and started to gird the material, the design is 16" × 21", on 10.11.12. Whilst gridding I found the material was too small so had to congact the company for another piece. They were very good and replaced the aida without any questions but as they are in the USA it didn't get to me until mid January. I'd lost my Christmas mojo then so didn't do anything wiht it. A few months ago I decided to start so took tbe fabric out to grkd and found it really creased so washed it. Instead of making it better it was more creased, I think it must be cheap aida as it seems twisted a bit as well. Anyway to cut a verh long story short I started gridding it Sundayand managed 20 stitches yesterday. Can't see it being done in the deadline but will give it a try and keep you updated.

On another note has anyone used photo Christian baubles for cross stitch? I have vague memories of someone saying theh had. If so did it work. Bought 4 from Home Bargains yesterday for 3.49 and thought they might make nice little gifts. Any advice greatly received.

will check in later. Off to work now, hoping to fjnish at lunchtime as soon off school due to strike.

    Hi,

What a great birth sampler, lots of different bits,I find frames clumsy to hold, much prefer hoops.

I had the same thing,I was given about a metre of aida,or what I thought was aida, after trying to sew it,it would go off center and no matter how I gridded it,it wouldn't lay flat.I took it to a little sewing shop in Lincoln and as soon as the chap looked at it he said it wasn't aida at all but a cheap imitation, the little holes were different sizes and that was why it wouldn't lay flat.i was so disappointed.
Christmas cakes made last night, can't believe i'am so organised,it won't last!!!
Off for coffee with a friend, not a lot of work will be done today x

Yay!! Managed to do a little stitching last night as the threads I ordered on Friday afternoon (to replace the ones ordered from ATS which I STILL haven't received despite being promised that some of them would be posted out straight away last Monday!!) arrived yesterday. Not the cheapest, but very lovely, helpful lady and very quick delivery at www.flumpkinscrossstitchers.co.uk put a smile back on my face :D.

Thanks everyone for comments and photos on thread stashes. I am very green with envy as you can see fromn the smiley above lol!!:rotfl:
