SDG you describe a carbon copy of how life is for them at the moment, I'm going to pass that on to them so they don't feel so alone in their difficulties, thank you so very much, it will help them immensely to know someone else has been through it and come out whole!!!
KIDCAT given the weather we've been having lately I'd be tempted to call the kitten STORM!!!
I walked the lurcha to the river this morning, I haven't been there since early last week and oh my goodness, the beach has been washed up on to the road, and up a hill and the water has dumped tree trunks, huge pieces of wood and all sorts of flotsam and jetsam up to the lower lying house fronts, I've never seen the like, obviously that storm on Friday night was fiercer that I realised. He Who Knows says the coastal footpath is closed as it's been undercut by the river to such an extent that most of it has fallen onto what is left of the beach!!!!!
The lurcha and I are going to have a quiet day today as He Who Knows is out so I'm going to do some ironing, wash the floors and maybe watch some Olympics on the TV I know how to live!!! Lyn xxx.0 -
My side of the family have been animal mad for many years. So thought I would list a few of the names. Some made heads turn, But it suited each animal perfectly lol
Cats:
Fat bum
Peanut
Porsha
Topsey
Princess
Storm
Molly-dolly
Sammi
Dogs:
Candy
Bullet
Rebel
Toby
Fudge
Rocky
Mr Wilson
Poppy
Diesel
(We never had all these at the same time) Because then it really would have been a mad house, These have been family pets since I was little. I think the best part of getting any animal is the naming part. But you will only get a good idea of what suits them once their there. xxFuture goals:
Become debt free.
Beat Depression.

This thread is so lovely, I lurk on here several times a day as it always seems like you could all be in the same sitting room together, drinking tea and eating delicious cakes.
We currently have 2 border collies. The 6 year old female is called Lucy, a very pretty name for a delicate and dainty lady with impeccable manners and our 3 year old male is called Chip, he is an absolute blunder bus, crashes into everything, takes your legs out from underneath you several times a day, drinks your tea if you don't keep any eye on him, gives the wettest 'boy' kisses ever.....and adores cuddles! :rotfl:
We also have 2 cats that keep the dogs firmly in their places, a beautiful tabby called Whiskey (DH's cat & bet you can't think what his favourite tipple is) and a massive beautiful grey cat called Mallory. Both cats are male and my girls think I have ruined Mallory by naming him after a girl, I am sure it's more than his name that has made him ever so slightly effeminate!
We had several pets when I was growing up, a dog called Cindy and a cat called Kizzy (not sure where that one came from?).
After lurking for a very long time, I feel it only right to make you all a lovely cuppa and a slice of cake, thank you all for cheering me up every day and keep up the chat :beer:0 -
SDG - that's exactly how it was when DS7 was born. DS9 was 2.5 then and a very demanding toddler (a jealous sibling, constantly hungry, needing lots of attention, activities etc and was being potty trained.) As I had problems breastfeeding, I expressed manually until I became ill and was re-admitted to hospital the day after DS7 and I came home (after his readmission.) DH became very assertive (twas needed) and insisted we switched to formula and both boys are tall for their age and very healthy. The most important time for breastfeeding is the early weeks and particularly the early days.
Once I was able to (with both babies), I used to pack up 2 big bags, one with changing gear, spare clothes, couple toys/books for the both of them and the other stuffed with feeding gear and tons of toddler snacks and drinks. We went to any toddler group going and friends' houses, parks, library and shopping etc, anything at all to get out. I figured that all the things like feeding, changing, sleeping etc could be done just as well in a church hall or wherever where other mums were on hand to help if needed. I got precious little done with housework during the day anyway. When DH came in we had a production line going with dinner, bottles, baths etc. Laundry and bits of shopping I fitted in during the day. Housework was left to the weekend and shared.
Not sure why I posted the above really, it was just there in my mind waiting to be typed! Suppose I am thinking of how much support there can be going to places with parents in a similar boat. We laughed and cried together at the good, bad and crazy bits of very early parenthood.
Mrs LW - one thing that helped me loads when I had DS9 as a baby (and not long moved to the area) was to join a parenting forum, I joined babyworld I think but there are several like mumsnet, netmums etc and some MSE threads. You can post anonymously and get advice, support, moan and rejoice with fellow mums at any time of day or night. With DS7 I had less time and had made some mummy friends so didn't need a forum.
Well DH has actually phoned in sick today instead of dragging himself in to work and being nagged by his boss to leave early. I still feel very coldy but managed to do a big shop leaving the children at home. Much much easier! I have prepped for the week, buying several easy to prepare meals in case I still feel ill. I want to conserve energy to have at least a couple of trips out, otherwise the boys will go stir crazy. Tomorrow we are meeting some friends for cheap Tues cinema so at least I can nod off if needs be there ha ha.
We managed DH's belated meal out yesterday much to boys' delight. They wanted to wear the new shirts I bought for our friends' renewal (that we had to miss) and DS7 wore the matching tie as well. They looked so adorable, the young waitress was smitten with them. DS9 ate as much as me and DS7 needed bits from our plates to supplement his kid's meal. Eating out will become a rarer treat me thinks!
I have let my OS ways slip a little lately due to sheer tiredness but am determined to get back on track as soon as the snots have gone. I am looking forward to baking bread most of all as I haven't made bread for a few months now
I have rambled long enough so...
take care everyone

WooHoo just spoken to DD2 and Ezra is up above his birth weight of 3.2kg at 3.384kg and they have been discharged by the midwives and told to go on to 4 hourly feeds with a formula top up if needed. Oh happy day!!! Thank you for bearing with me and my multitudinous baby posts, you're all very patient and so kind and supportive. I think we'll all sleep sounder in our minds tonight in this little family of ours and DD will be much happier with motherhood from now on, Lyn xxx.0

Brilliant news Mrs Lw, lets hope baby zebra decides to co-operate with the extra hours sleep
SQ - gald you got out yesterday it makes such a difference
Well I am exhausted having been out at 8.15am to drop DCD at Uni then onto just outside Middlesborough for a bonnet, made it in really good time then popped into a nearby Asda for toilet break and to top up our banana supply which was getting dangerously lowthen back home by 2.30 to collect DD from Uni. Delivered bonnet to garage for its respray and was able to pop into carpet shop on way past and book someone to come out and measure up tomorrow, ready for new carpet.
Just had time to call past B&M and grab a few bits including new bowl for kitty and then home for dinner.
Had small whoops in that I needed a freezer block to take with us to keep the medicines cool and didnt have one, so wrapped the meat for tonights dinner from freezer and took that instead, but the cool bag worked too well and the meat is still solid. Thankfully I had pizza in for kids and DD19 has picked a meal from freezer, OH can have leftover roast dinner and I will probably grab some soup.
Looking forward to a stay at home day tomorrow, then will plan something for Wednesday.0 -
MrsL do they not do babies in lbs and ounces any more? If somebody said my grandbaby was 3 kgs I'd scream and rush over to the SCBU !0
