Aww lynn being house bound never helps at all, when she gets mobile again she
will feel so much better. Waking a sleeping baby goes against everything we are taught as well poor thing. Let sleeping babies lie was a motto in our house.0 -
I used to get quite angry at the tv ads showing a gorgeous sparkling clean house plus a new mum and baby - all dressed in white of course -
grinning like a halfwit while wittering about washing powder. I used to feel like machine-gunning the telly. LOL0 -
Mardatha - my HV felt the same, she used to get very cross that it was building up new mums to fail, she said she wanted to see a house that was messy when she went out as she knew mum was looking after herself not the house
Well we have agreed a full deal for our kitty, but he cant come home for a few weeks, the breeder has to complete his vaccinations before he can come home. So I am making a journey tomorrow for the bonnet and then again in a couple of weeks for kitty.
Kids are all excited and thinking of names, we have a wide and varied selection so far, from Dumbledore, Bailey and Merlin right through to Dodger and Duncan!!!0 -
Ooh, Kidcat, I like merlin;)
Have just tried a very old fashioned recipe. It involves layering bread crumbs with sliced apples in a dish, alongside a sprinkling of sugar and cinnamon and then repeating. You then pour over a whisked egg and milk mixture and bake. I got the recipe from the Woman's weekly edition that is made up of old articles--a bit of a splurge, a special treat for a big milestone at work. I thought I would give the recipe a go as I've had a huge stash of bread ends in the freezer for ages. I've just had a small taste--goes to show how modern my tastebuds are as I found it wasn't particularly sweet at all. There weren't any amounts in the recipe so perhaps I under-did it on the sugar a bit. Still its nice and was a very frugal pudding. Will perhaps have it with a bit of cream after dinner.0 -

No idea what were doing during half term. Just know, tuesday gas service is being done and, thursday going to visit a friend hopefully.
Theres a free fun day on thursday for children with disabilities but I'm not confident about going. The people causing trouble will be there, so Im going to avoid it.0 -
Dumbledore for me Kidcat, everyone is going to like a different one!
Children have driven me ever so slightly crazy today, which doesn't bode well for half term really does it?
DS has slightly redeemed himself by making delicious cheese scones for tea, then unredeemed himself by arguing about it all and not doing the washing up. Words will be had.0 -
I always used to practice calling the name as in when you want to call the cat in before deciding- Human nature being what it is, you tend to abbreviate long names and they don't always sound right
eg Merlin! Merlin! Merly Merly Merly Merlin! It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Mary that is exactly what I have been doing, although he won't be going out I am imagining the very calling his name out in a crowded waiting room.0
