Afternoon Toughies, back from my visit and Ezra is such a poppet and a very contented little boy. Mum is struggling with the feeding but it seems to be working well as he weighed in at 3.180kg on Thursday so the midwives were pleased with him. DD is so tired at the moment my heart is wrung for her, I remember it all so well!!! I cleaned, cooked, baby minded and generally supported her while I was there and stayed on for an extra day as she really wanted me to. Long days, I am very tired as it was up at 6ish in the morning and off to the shop for croissants for breakfast (she REALLY fancied some) and then up to 11.30 doing the late night babysit so they could get s little sleep. Son in Law is wonderful and so good with the baby, he's a really nice chap and is so supportive of DD but he's tired out too. I know it will improve with time but it's quite hard going for them doing 2 hourly feeds at the moment. Next week she has visits from a couple of friends and DD1 is on half term so will go down for 3 days. I'll be back the week after next for a few days, I so much hope he starts to go longer between feeds by then for their sakes. DD is hoping to be discharged from the midwife on Monday and handed over to the Health Visitors so I hope they will be more help in managing a new baby at home. DDs little godson came to visit yesterday with his mum and announced that he'd come to play with baby ZEBRA, I thing that one might stick, priceless eh? Lyn xxx.0

Evening all:)
We had a lovely evening last night at home, not traditionally romantic.
OH.came back from work and went to farmfoods to buy potatoes. 7.5kg for £2, they pretty good.
He came back with sausages, bacon and other things we didn't need. But it was good value so can't complain.
I made a lemon curd cake, spicy chicken wings +potatoes, puff astry pizza topped with ham and mushroom.OH came back with hot dogs and buns which ds2 loved.
So we had a buffet for, tea followed by german baked cheese cake made with curd. It was gorgous, OH picked it from ff as well.
So wr ignored the wind, it was howling the roof was shaking while, we laughed.
Sirry your evening was a nightmare kidcat.
Monnogran afternoon tea sounds lovely,
Abd fab news about gs wonderful news!
On other news the police may have found the power tools that were stolen from OH's van!0 -
Love the news about new cats and new babies. Two - hourly feeds, Mrs LW, gosh, if he is a slow feeder no wonder DD is hanging.
Very relieved to hear yesterday that some Maths assessment questions I wrote were approved by Ofqual and I will now be paid for the work I did. I did the very best job that I could, having seen a poor standard elsewhere for some other examination boards.
Whilst that meant that instead of my earning £20 an hour (roughly the going rate) it costed out around £4 an hour, the organisation have asked if they can keep my details on file, for future projects. So that was good.
Have been enjoying what I've been able to catch (which has been quite a bit) of the Winter Olympics. I do love my TV sport.
Some of you may have seen this on another thread. It's something that the breeder of my two baby racehorses put up for Valentine's Day.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Oh Mrs LW poor DD, I can sympathise as mine were all very much the same, it wasn't until number three that I came up with a better system for me which worked.
Kez - brilliant news about the tools being found.
Monna - a windy wedding oh my
McC - well done on the work, how are your horses doing?
I managed a trip to costco to buy our poorly doggy special food, which he was very happy with
Then Ald! which was incredibly busy and car park was awful.0 -
Hopefully the tools the ours if not, i'll just be happy if someone else gets they stuff back to be honest.
so excited for your ds kidcat
Awwee lynn ezra sounds so lovely. Mine would feed like, that. Give it a couple of weeks he'll soon settle down. he has such wonderful caring parents and thats, the main thing. soon enough he'll be smiling away and the feeding problems will be forgotten.
Ds1 will is, playing and, chatting to his friends on xbox live, he'll soon be kicked to bed. Ds2 is playing rise of nations with his daddy on the pc. They both completed age of empires so this is the next one.0 -
Morning all,
'Zebra' love itIt sounds like your DD has lots of support, Lyn. She'll be through it in no time and probably with a lot fewer scars than many because of the lovely and warm family she has around her.
Its been a busy couple of days. Monna, your Valentines tea sounds lovely and what wonderful news about your DGS.
We're off to do the shop in a bit and then some household chores before an afternoon of sewing and baking for me.
Hugs.0 -
Hello everyone,
Monna your posh afternoon tea sounds absolutely heavenly (pun intended!) and you both so deserved it.
Well done Mcculloch!
Kez, your meal sounded delicious. I also have started to buy spuds from Farmyardfoodies, they are excellent value (though DH moans if he is on peeling duty as they need to wash them well first
Sorry your eve out wasn't exactly as planned kidcat - I know this won't help but last year DH arranged a meal out in a pub for our 10th anniversary. It was a fair drive away out in the sticks and sounded good (according to his lordship) but it was very disappointing. We were squeezed in near the loo surrounded by darts players and the food was nothing special. Never mind, for us it was still a night out with no cooking.
Well DH is still unwell, he can't seem to shake this coldy thing off and is exhausted. We are not ones to visit docs unless really necessary but feel he may need to go (and he won't.) We missed our friends' wedding renewal yesterday (after hours of fruitless outfit searching)as I felt coldy too and just not enough oomph to take kids on my own. Feel a wimp and guilty for not going but I just couldn't push myself to go. I slept for over 12 hours yesterday night and still felt like poo.
DS7 also has some sort of eye infection, took him to docs Fri to get drops for a "stye" but yesterday 2nd eye also red and watery. No yellow sticky discharge but think it must be conjunctivitis.
DH did finally open his wider family birthday cards and listen to answerphone messages nearly a week late. He phoned his mum back which ended up with him putting the phone down so another nail in the coffin there. On the plus side he spoke to the kids about last weekend which was rotten and we are going to attempt a belated birthday meal out this afternoon. DH is currently in bed trying to rest in preparation. Kids will be so disappointed if we don't go a 2nd time. Fingers crossed.
Its not all doom and gloom here though honestly. I feel better after another long night's sleep which has been a long time overdue. The sun is glorious today, the washing baskets are nearly empty, kids are upbeat and it's half term next week.

Mrs LW, thanks for sharing your family news, baby Ezra/Zebra sounds utterly adorable. You will have given your DD and SIL a welcome boost. DS7 needed 2 hours feeds when he was tiny due to weight loss and it was tough waking up to the alarm clock and even worse having to wake up a very sleepy baby. We used to resort sometimes to stripping his clothes off and blowing on him as he refused to wake up for a feed! Poor little darling but it worked and was only for a short time. Ezra will soon progress to longer gaps between feeds and life will be easier all round. Hugs to you all. Please let DD and SIL know we are all thinking of them and love hearing updates sq)0

Hi everyone.
I have woken up feeling a rotter! I hope and pray that I’m not catching anything going around because I have my dental hospital appointment fast approaching & they wont put me “under” if I have been unwell.
Feeling like I could sleep for week means that yet again everything is being forgotten. I have a huge ironing pile, Dusty belongings, lunch needs to be made for OH tomorrow, Dinner that needs finishing & I have nothing in me.
I did however finally get around to ordering the poppers for the duvet cover. So hopefully, This week we will be able to sleep with a full cover again. Cant stand waking up in the middle of the night to a huge lump of covers rolled down to our feet. We’re also waiting for a new bedding set that OH’s mum has brought. She originally brought it for herself but suddenly decides she don’t like it. Brand new, But she isn’t willing to cancel the order.
(OH‘s mum & dad are not good with saving money because they have it IYKWIM)
Anyways, Off for a little rest. Take care all.Future goals:
Become debt free.
Beat Depression.
Be happy & healthy0 -
Thanks SQ that's just what they are coping with, having to wake Ezra to feed him and then having to keep re waking him as he drops off again while he is feeding. I know it will only be for a short time but they are both soooooooo tired poor things, life is an effort. Still it's DD2s 30th birthday today and SIL made her pancakes for breakfast and they were going out for lunch and then on to visit a friend. This will be a first for baby Zebra and will give his mum a much needed change of scenery. She can't drive for another 3 weeks which is part of the problem, when she can get out and about again I think she'll feel more positive, still tired but back in the human race again? She's fine really, I think the reality of a new baby is nothing like the imaginings you have when you're pregnant and she'll get her life back in hand pretty quickly. Thank you, all of you for being here for me as well, it's such a comfort to share and have wondeful positives posted in return, many thanks, it helps so much, Lyn xxx.0
