Morning all, have had lots to catch up with. Boy you can chat. Kidcat I hope you find a cat soon. The right one will be around soon.
Mrs LW glad the little one has started to put some weight on at last.

Mum is home again, and has gall stones now as well. What are they?? Thursday mum has the heart scan, so answers should come quite quickly.
I made a real effort to go to the doctors this morning, I have the most painful shoulder. but now my side and breast has gone numb. I had it all checked and just a badly bruised and trapped nerves. not sure how that happened. Have to say I did get a little worried. the doctor said to look for a rash (I cant see my back) as I may have the start of shingles, as I have so much going on. Maybe its time to realise that I do far too much and its time take more me time. But I will try, have to work 45 3/4 hours this week, but I promise to try.

Have prepared tea for OH and DD, chicken kievs, pots and peas.

Nutty - poor you and your mum. I know you need to dash a lot but you must make time to relax as well - shingles can be bought on by stress. Hope you feel better soon, well done for going to the docs.

Gall stones are deposits of cholesterol (I think). My friend has them and controls them by eating a lowish fat diet, if she overdoes high fat food she gets awful pains. You can have an op to remove them but some people can control with diet.

Gallstones can feel like a heart attack, maybe that was one of mum's problems.

Nutty - my mum has always suffered shingles, she gets hers on her face and around her eyes, very painfull. They always flare up when she's stressed and take weeks to go down, she's left with almost constant pain from them so please take some time out to destress and relax.

Found DD a lovely little car, she picks it up on Thursday, she's so excited and has already got it booked in for a stereo upgrade on Sunday! Will go into town tomorrow and pick up a set of mats and some basics for her boot. I doubt we'll see much of her now!

The flooding is now starting to creep closer although as we're up a cliff we should be fairly ok but some of the low lying villages are now very sploshy. It's been pounding down all morning and I've been emptying pots from around the kitchen and conservatory where it just keeps coming in, my poor kitchen ceiling is so bad but we can't do a thing until it dries up. My garden isn't draining and I'm starting to get puddles, the kittens hate it and the muddy paw prints everywhere are really getting on my nerves. But compared to some poor people I've got it good, my heat goes out to them all.

  • Leona I made the HD pork and rice last week, and it was delish. How has yours turned out? HD lamb spinach and potato curry tonight :D

This is the second time I made it and it has turned out well. Everyone scraped their plate clean.

Making mince with veg and tumbled potatoes tomorrow but using lamb mince and stock cubes instead of beef.

Everyone loved the chicken last night as well. I added a little more of the peppers and a bit more spice and it worked out.

I tried making cornish pasties at the weekend and they were very tasty but I precooked the meat and veg with stock and let it cool rather than follow the recipe to the letter.

I made the spicy pork the other week - tasted delish but we found we were hungry again later so kind of not the point. Finding the potato based ones fill us up for longer.

Just a quick visit to stick my head round the doorway - got PTA meeting tonight and then need to prep for the parent carer forum meeting tomorrow which will be a biggy.

Managed to submit my essay yesterday so at least I don't have that hanging over me as well.

And at least the PTA meeting is in the pub - not so MS but we are trying to attract a few more parents who might not come after school to sit in the staff room with (occasionally) a cup of tea. Will reward myself with a cheeky glass of wine for going to yet another meeting - was at a conference about the special education changes on Friday and Saturday and listened to a total of 3 keynote speakers, took part in 4 workshops and co-ran another one! Wrote my essay yesterday and with meetings tonight and tomorrow I think my head may well explode!! Ah well worse things happen at sea they say, and I'll just thank my lucky stars that we're not underwater like all those poor people on the news.

Hope you are all well and safe - Hugs X

Elona - I think if the coven as they are lovingly referred to in our house had seen the article then they will be complaining thats its not fair to use cats in such a manner!!! :)

SQ - glad you got things sorted with DH

Nutty - your poor mum, ((hugs)) please do take some time to rest though

Grandma - thank you, yes I have seen it today - it very much tallies with what I see in my area and hear of in others too. Its a real problem, and I have been there and experienced it many times. From a parental point of view its incredibly hard, as if my child is upset or not participating I would rather collect them, and I think many parents put up with a very bad situation for that reason.

Well we did it, we got to hospital in plenty of time, parking was easy (but when we left it was bedlam) and we were seen relatively quickly too. DS can choose whether he wants the surgery, which will be very painful, they will insert a metal band behind his rib cage which will push it out into right position, then they will remove some cartelidge (?sp) from the central area. We have to go back in six weeks for ECG and other tests ready, DS says he does want to go ahead, I will admit to being very worried about the whole thing.

Ohhh Kidkat - NUS surgery? Scary stuff. We went through all the preamble with DD2 but she opted not to have the surgery as she didn't want to be inactive for so long. She's coping without it, reduced lung capacity but she knows her limits. She's had to drop out of her dance GCSE as some of the longer routines left her to breathless which cause her panic attacks. It's a very extreme surgery and I wish you and DS all the best for it if you go down that route. Have a good read of the medical findings from it, they don't all make good reading success wise.
