    This is interesting--
    "Snow overview for Scotland
    Monday 10 February 2014

The snow just won’t stop falling in Scotland and most of the resorts now claim to have more snow than their recent record season of 2009-10.

The snow at Glencoe (180/370cm) is fast approaching four metres deep now and many of the lifts are having to be dug out after each snowfall. Consistently cold weather has prevented the snow from melting much and it keeps piling up. Conditions are superb on and off piste so now is the perfect time to head to Scotland."

Oh Kidcat, I do feel for you (and poor little DS!). I've no experience of scarlet fever but it doesn't sound nice. :(
Get your skis on then Mar. Don't like the sound of having to be dug out of the lift much, mind you!
It's getting worse here and I'll be glad when the children are home and we're all under one roof TBH.

Mardatha - hope you are well stocked up :)

Possession - its not that bad in itself, but it does mean having DS9 being off school, which means I can do nothing at all when OH and DD19 are out. And he is itching, which means he is rubbing up and down walls and doors, but wont let me put cream on him, or even take the piriton.
And I too, will be very glad when everyone is home and safe. I always find it slightly odd that schools close at first sign of snow, but high winds like this (our bridge is closed) and they stay open.

Just had some incredible news, OH was involved in a share scheme at his old workplace, and had two open accounts which should simply be paid as savings on leaving, but as he was made redundant we have been told we can pay £200 in maximum and then exercise the option. The thing is the share option when he took it was incredibly low and the shares have rocketed up since, so we are in for a nice little windfall.
Our aim with the share schemes every year was to pay for a small holiday each year, as shares never really made much. :)

Does any one know the average percentage that food has gone up by? I'm trying to work out whether a 3% wage rise is in line with food costs and heating cost increases.

The storm passed through us without a hitch. We now have afternoon sun. Hey Mar, enjoy your snow!

I don't know Fuddle but 3% is a very good raise at the moment anyway. More than I've had in 3 years! I suspect costs have risen much more though.
    Wishing DS better quickly Kidcat.

Kidcat - sorry your DS is poorly, hope the itching eases soon - or both your sakes! Great news about the share option thing though.

I seem to remember that Gailey was having a stressy time with the whole house thing and having to move last time she posted - hope the place she is moving to is what she wants and needs.

I've been to a really positive parent carer forum meeting today and really feel quite positive about the future. Was a huge amount of info to take in and process though - so a bit hurty brain ache now.

We get to go and pick up DD's hire communication device tomorrow (woo hoo!!!! Lots of happy, jumpy smiley faces) She knows that one is coming but we didn't think we could get it til Monday so we've not told her that we can go get it tomorrow. If it's all charged when we pick it up we are going to load up her own vocab and take it straight into school to surprise her! So looking forward to getting my little lady's 'satnav' voice back! (One of the kids in her class said they liked .....'s talking voice but she sound's like daddy's car! LOL!!)

DH back from the supermarket so must go and make the small people's tea.

Hope you all stay safe, warm and dry - big hugs - H X

Can you add the piriton to a drink or food? And good news about your windfall :)

Ohhh Stilty - fab news, you'll have your chatterbox back!

Cooooor Blimey that storm was horrid as it passed over, so much sleet and hail, the water was about an inch away from the door step at one point at the back and I've been poking holes in the kitchen ceiling to try and get all the leaks to converge in one place! All quiet now though but I hear we are expecting more in an hour or so :(

stiltwalker - fab news, its always good when you can keep a promise early :)

DD7 has come home complaining of sore throat so my assumption is that we will have a new case in a couple of days :)

Stay safe everyone, its nightmare windy here, lights are flashing and internet is dropping signal.

Not sure about food prices in general but been in Tesco and had a nasty shock-smart price eggs gone up 40% -they were £1.35 for 15 eggs, now £1.30 for 10.That's the reason why I shop in Lidl/Aldi.
