Kidcat - sorry no practical advice re the breeders except to say I am very bl**dy angry on your behalf and please remember that most people do NOT think and feel the way those ignorant people do. They are in a minority and will get their comeuppance one day I'm sure.

Had a rubbish weekend culminating in DH and I having some sort of misunderstanding that morphed into a horrible argument. Neither of us feels very well, especially DH who has spent a good chunk of the weekend in bed. We were meant to go out for a birthday meal and he cancelled it. The kids were brilliant about it, they could see how stressed we were. Disappointing but not the end of the world.

DH went back to bed leaving me to do everything including making tea when I hadn't planned to cook. I had a massive sob on my own and pulled myself together to cook, do baths etc and put on a brave face for the children. MIL phoned earlier whilst DH was in bed (left it to answerphone) and there are 2 cards from his side of family on the dresser waiting to be opened so I think that is half the problem.

Oh well he will probably be ok in the morning and even if he isn't he will make a fuss of the boys when they give him his cards and little gifts. I will try and make the day as nice as possible for him and hope he will let me. I have friends on here and in RL to get things off my chest - he has just me to talk about emotional stuff and I feel sometimes as if I have to be wife, friends and family all rolled into one.

just realised eldest still has his reading light on, best go and sort him out

  • Briefly delurking to say - Kidcat, is there a reason you're looking for a pure-breed kitten? Ask your local vet, they often get told about litters of moggies that need homes. With cats (barring Bengals), breed is shape n colour, not temperament. That's determined by socialisation and not all breeders are good at socialising kittens. Socialisation happens most easily at 6-8 weeks, n only emergency rescues are usually placed before 8-10 weeks.

My mum is a vet, and please don't take the breeders' behaviour too personally - some can be very cliquey and def believe only they are right.

Thank you dragonette. We are looking for a specific type of cat for ds15. His autism and sensory disorder mean that it needs certain qualities such as coat feel etc. He has also expressed a desire to take part in some shows which we were encouraging as a social hobby, not so sure now about the showing thing after all this.

Have woken feeling rubbish and cant get moving, thankfully dd19 was up on time so has kept us on target, ds9 is complaining of sore throat, would normally send him in and see what happens but he is hot and not eaten so will keep him home today and hope he feels better tomorrow.
  • Kidcat, please don't give up. He can always show the cat at fun shows and I have read your posts often and know you will be a loving and responsible owner.

Kidcat I'm sorry you are having such a rotten time over something that should have been fun .
Dragonette gave excellent advice, I have an Oriental who at 9yrs. old is still scared of his own shadow, our granddaughter has one that looks identical and is the most sociable cat ever.
The houshold pet bit of cat shows is by far the best, the owners love their cats and are not "catty":rotfl: like the breeders.
I would advice going to a couple of cat shows to check the atmosphere they are not always the friendliest of places
    Good luck
  • Morning everyone,

Guess what the weather is here, begins with r.... Watching some news and see the army and navy are helping with sandbags etc and now areas along the Thames are flooding. Hoping as hard as I can that the rain eases off asap, the forecast doesn't look good. Is everyone ok this morning?

Well not a very birthday like atmosphere this morning but DH made a fuss of boys' offerings and said thanks for mine at least. Hoping work colleagues will have more success than me. Just emailed him asking if he wants a takeaway or something home cooked for tea. I am feeling a miserable grump what with a cold and the stuff at home but my happier side is trying its best to come out! Got some basics shopping after school run, just had a cuppa and sandwich (early lunch) waiting for a washload to finish then I am off out to town to try and cross a few non-food wants & needs off my list. Fresh air even if its raining cures a lot of ills doesn't it?

Made an enormous urn of tea so help yourselves, biccies on the side.

Anyone else unable to get smilies? I haven't been able to for yonks

    sq :)
  • (((((((((Kidcat))))))))) hope both you and DS9 feel better as the day goes on. Can you spend an hour together watching something funny with blankets and hot drinks?

Kidcat the least he ought to do is to tell the others he made a mistake. :(

so sorry kidcat, its just not a nice situation, if theres anything I can do let me know.

My friends cats attend fun shows and official shows, she prefers the fun ones. The cats are better treated, less stress and overall better atmosphere.

the rescue centre knows breeders all over the country so I might be able to able help that way.

Ds2 off school today spent yesterday being sick and full of cold.

Sq once he's gets home im sure his mood pick up.

So pleased to read of Ezra's weight gain and that DD is finding more time to rest so she's able to cope. Sleep deprivation can normally be found at the root of baby related difficulties huh? I could never breast feeds eldest you know :( I had a nasty tear when I had her which resulted in me being given general anesthetic in order to fix - add that to 36 hour labour and delayed 2nd stage and on the cusp of a transfusion because I'd lost so much blood and you have a new mam that is out of it. It transpires that DD was given bottle in this time and why she would never suckle me. I bottle fed my breast milk after that but it was doubly knackering - I had to wake to feed DD and then stay awake to express more. Seems like such a long time ago now!

Very busy here - really tired but you all don't want to hear about that. Have an evening off tonight though ;)

Pulled pork left overs for our evening meal.

Vinegar on bulk but as limescale is seriously annoying me!

DH finally sussed weekend childcare and housework ;)

I have a dining table ordered!!!! Only small as only have living/dining although it's supposed to only be a living room but there's empt space where the spiral stair case goes - the camping panic table fits so this little thing should too. I've been after a dining table for family meals for so long! :D

I'm getting a 3% pay rise in April which is great news.

DH did the grocery shop - cupboards are full but yet again he's succumbed to bargains of stuff we don't need.

All is well, just tired. This evening I'm having a HM honey and sugar scrub face mask while a soak in the bath, look for something to read for my kindle app and try to get over crying at Call The Midwife just now :( Big softy that I am.
