This place was recommended by my consultant: http://www.wessexfertility.com/egg-freezing-and-storage/#.Ut1zfmTFLoA
Thank you so much for the link, we had found the Midlands Fertility Services centre. Am I right in assuming the cost is so etching we would have to pay or is it a procedure the NHS offer?0 -
Happy birthday Mrs soon-to-be-Oma-LW!
Your reference to the book about Sweden reminded me of a brief trip to Eskilstuna and Stockholm a few years ago. One of the nicest meals I had there in a restaurant was fine slivers of beef steak served with cubed, sauteed potatoes and grated raw red onion garnished with a raw egg yolk. I have never been able to recreate it since. One life - your life - live it!0 -
MOS - can I just say how fantastically brave your daughter is being, and you for that matter. How amazing that you can be so practical together through what must be a very worrying time for you all. Huge hugs to you both x
DD1 has been doing photography with a life model today, she's captured some astounding images that have left me quite in awe of what she's capable of. I wish I'd have had the choices and enthusiasm when I was her age. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
There's one thing I have learne these past few months and that is just get on and do it because in the doing it you lose the anxiety of 'having to do it' does that make sense?

I'm a lot older than your DD, but was basically told my health authority offer nothing in the way of funding for fertility treatment (hence the recommendation of the private clinic). I suspect that the NHS will offer very little - they may offer her the IVF at a later date to use the stored eggs, but who knows how things will be in a few years time?
Pick a well-established reputable clinic so that you know the eggs will be safely stored and read all the contracts carefully, including what happens if they go out of business/are taken over etc.
It's probably worth looking for specialist forums as there will be lots of people out there with a wealth of experience.
FWIW I regret not freezing eggs in my 20s when there was first a suspicion all was not well. But then again, egg freezing technology was pretty primitive back then and success rates were low. There have been, and continue to be, significant advances in the technology.0 -
Happy Birthday Mrs LW
Ivyleaf, it not fun is it, I've asked to reduce my hours at work as I get so tired, but I don't think they will agree. I find eating little & often is best, meat makes me worse & I was told to eat an apple every day & it does seem to help.

Thank you Pooky, DD has already been told it will be difficult for her to get pregnant as the tubes have been damaged by the cysts. DD has been quite upset about it, as have I, but we have both said what's done is done and we can't change it. I have told her that when she qualifies as a vet, I will be happy with puppies and kittens, she did laugh at that and said 'you might regret saying that', I can imagine I will be the first port of call should any animals be in need of a home!
We both realise it could be so much worse as my late Mum died at 52 after having ovarian and womb cancer, doesn't mean we can't be sad sometimes though.0 -

They had hoped the first one she got 2/3 months ago was going to be the only one she had and we were warned of the dangers of her losing the ovary then. Fortunately the surgeon was very good and managed to leave the ovary but she now has a large cyst on her left ovary (was right side last time) and they suspect from the constant pain she is in that another one is developing on the right hand side again
We do have savings incase we need to pay for the treatment, it has to be worth it if it allows her children in the future.0 -
MOS - I grew up with a neighbour who was incredible, she fed me and cared for me and taught me basic cooking, yet after cysts, damaged tubes etc faced she would not be able to have children, then she had an ectopic pregnancy which caused further damage. She went through so much fertility drugs etc and it failed. She gave up and two years later discovered she was pregnant, quite by accident. So all things are possible, I do hope you have a similar happy story to come.0

I have PCOS that has stopped us from any further children (DDs are from my first marriage, current DH doesn't have any biological children of his own). It's heartbreaking when your body seems to conspire against you.
By being as prepared and supportive as you can now will stand you all in good stead in the future. Fingers crossed everything goes to plan and she is able to conceive naturally"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
