Hi all I gave up caffeine over 12 months ago and have taken a real liking to peppermint tea. Out of all the expensive ones I still prefer Lidls. Goes back to lurking.

    Hello everyone,

Hope you get to your dental appointment tomorrow kidcat, digits crossed for you. shegar, you are doing really well, might as well keep it up now and then you won't have to go through the withdrawal stage again. My DH did that with ciggies, no patches or other aids just went for it.

felt a bit weepy and wobbly this morning so instead of staying in and moping, I've been into our town. Had to pick up DH's script anyway so 2 trips in one. Took a while to feel better but being out and about browsing and buying odds and ends helped no end. Bumped into a friend I haven't seen in a while who gave me a huge hug which was worth going out for. I saw a young woman touting some financial advice thing coughing away so went up to her to give her my last 2 (wrapped) cough sweets, she was so surprised and grateful that I had thought of her. I love doing things like that, gives me such a boost. I know you are the same nutty as I suspect a lot of us are on here.

Treated myself to a latte mid shop; a cancer research diary in the sale for 99p (as I do every year); a pack of 5 little hardback note books in £shop to get me organised; a scarf in primeask in sale for £1 (which matches the hat and glove already bought from elsewhere) and a Mr Wonka bar (my friend introduced me to them last week, naughty girl.) Feel like I have a lot but only spent just over £5 including the coffee on myself. Also bought a couple of lovely pins in cancer research, there are like silver brooches with a little coloured (or clear) stone in the centre for £1 and am sending them to two different friends with a notecard.... just because.

Waiting for a wash load to finish and am going to bung some chicken thighs in the slowcooker next and then pop to different shops if time to get a couple of long overdue refunds sorted.

edit: Hi Lucille, please pop in again, we love new faces on here. we are a friendly if not slightly eccentric bunch!

  • Savingqueen, what a lovely thought, I am sure they will be thrilled to receive the pins, I know I would, and you not feeling 100% today.

    Well done that girl.

    Much love

I cant handle clutter at all, absolutely detest it, my kitchen look as if no one live there , only 2 things on my work tops , thats one kettle and one toaster, nothing at all on the window sills either , so easy to to keep clean that way..........
My other rooms are much the same , at least when you dont have clutter you dont lose things, plus things keep cleaner.............

Hello newbies nice to have you on board...............

Had my first 27 hours with out caffeine , wow and what a dam headaches have I had since lunch time, I use to drink around 8 mugs tea a day plus 3 cans diet coke, so no wonder ive got a headache, good god Im not allowed to drink, smoke, eat sugar , and now me good ole diet coke as had to go, oh well im alive thats the main thing, if my health will be better for it then so be it....................Sheila

I hope I'm not teaching my grandma to suck eggs, and apologise in advance if I cause offense, but you can get caffeine free coke and tea bags.

Caffeine free diet coke always tastes funny to me. Can't put my finger on it.

But cutting out diet drinks helps cut the trips to the loo big time. They seem to be a diuretic on me.

I can't drink diet drinks full stop, they taste sickly....Blugh.

I have maybe 3 cups of tea a day, the rest of the time it's water....probably around 5 pints a day. Im not a great coffee lover and have a cup maybe once every 6 months or so. Not keen on fruit juice either....I'd rather just eat the fruit.

I've read some nasty things about the diet drinks and really would encourage anyone to give them up.

Have courage Shegar it gets better. I've given up coffee twice now. Once for 4 years and once for 2x1/2. I can't honestly say that it made much difference to me. Perhaps my system is hardened to drinking industrial strength coffee all day. I won't frighten you by saying how much I get through in a day but I don't drink much else.

I did have a bit of a headache the first time I gave it up but a couple of paracetemols sorted that out.

SQ: How lovely to send your friends the pins 'just because'. I bet they are thrilled.

Kidcat: I hope your tooth gets sorted out tomorrow. There is nothing as miserable as toothache. I have had half a tooth for the last 4 months. I really should get something done about it but I know what it is going to cost to get it crowned or even just patched up. It doesn't hurt at all so I'm putting it off.

PinkD: Oh, my dear girl. I can't imagine how you even begin to cope. This is where I feel that life is totally unfair. If it were possible I would have some your problems for you but unfortunately life's not like that. You do know that we are all rooting for you don't you? Wouldn't it be wonderful if all of us who are desperately trying to lose weight could give you a bit of ours. At least you would have a different problem. In the meantime just enjoy all our virtual hugs.

Morning all - where is everyone this fine morn? Thought I'd better post as the thread looks lonely.

DH has discovered his next exam is in fact next week (told you so DH! :p) and so the panic begins. He is taking off today, Mon and next Thurs to catch up and revise (and unofficially and unpaid doing some of his paid work grrrrr.)

I am stalling on here, need to go out and do stuff.... and feeling lazy. Made some decisions recently get to grips with my sugar addiction, alcohol and caffeine under control but sugar is my downfall. Hoping cutting down sugar will help me loose weight as well as I am piling it on.

Secondly need to seriously declutter the house (have been doing tiny steps but need to speed up... a lot.) DS9 wants his own room and the only way is to somehow empty the tiny spare box room. Promised him will be done by/over the summer so will have to declutter the house as I don't promise such things to the children lightly.

If I could get my diet and the house under control, I know my life will be so much better in so many ways. Typing on a public forum makes it more real.

Ok have a good day or as best as life permits you all today. Sending you all my brightest smiles.

    take care
    sq :)
