ONTHECATBUS you might find some likely recipes in NANNY OG'S COOK BOOK, I don't have a copy but you might be able to get it ordered in to your local library? If it's middle earth and hobbity it will have to include mushrooms I feel, Lyn xxx.

I've just put in a google search for hobbit recipes and there are many sites actually providing real recipes for food that hobbits like to eat, might help, Lyn x.

DD1 has a copy of nanny ogg and it has recipes for, dwarf drop scones, dwarf bread, dwarf cake, figgin, Mrs WHITLOW'S ARTERY HARDENING HOGSWATCH PIE for feeding to wizards, if that's the sort of thing you might do.

and strawberry wobbler of course :rotfl:
    Must use my stash up!
  • Oh Pink! That sounds like a lot to bear. I'm sending you lovely warm hugs and hoping you're able to maintain your weight as best as is possible while the infection clear up. I hope you were still able to enjoy time with your nearest and dearest over Christmas. I'm glad you popped in for a post, I was wondering how you were getting on with your lists of pleasant things. Are you able to keep at least some of them up in spite of the complications? You're such a strong woman, but know we're all here supporting you and thinking about you. Please let us know how you're getting on.

It's a constant war in this house on many fronts :D hoarding is one.
He hangs to any old bit of tat saying "it might come in handy" -and what is worse is that he plonks it down, and 6 years later wants and expects it to be where he left it. Wee bits of bike wiring, bulbs, switches, odd shaped unidentifiable black plastic, nuts & bolts.
Then at one point we had 20-odd large yoghurt containers in the spare room, along with about a million bank coin bags, 2 broken breadmakers, and a pile of his tshirts that were too big. I chucked the lot and he was miffed.
We have matching chest of drawers and bedside chests, his n hers. His are full to bulging and the bottoms are hanging out... mine are tidy and half empty. Same with his n hers sides of wardrobe. It seems to be three quarters his and a tiny wee bit hers.
I'm very tidy although not house proud, need things to all have a wee home :D I can't live in a mess.

Mardatha!! What are you doing with my husband??????

That is just how my OH is - I call him the world's fattest squirrel.

Alfsmum have you tried looking on the BBC Good Food website - they put the recipes on there about 2 months after they have been in the magazine and you can either print them or download them. I think they have a print friendly version option though that could be Delicious Magazine which also has a really good website. Saves all that copying

Tks maryb and yes, I do look at the websites. I have been going through a few mags at a time and getting more and more ruthless as I realise I'll probably never make most if the recipes, however nice they look. Knowing they are online will give me another kick not to hoard and the mags were on a subscription that came via some vouchers so I won't be getting any more once that has expired.

Afternoon. It's snowing again. The good thing about it, is that number two son works on a snow removal crew so he will have plenty of work this week.

So, the husband retires in March, except he's got a load of leave to use up, so his last actual work day is in two weeks time. He's had to return a load of kit and uniforms and I still have clutter all over the place. I have two hockey bags full of unopened packages of tee shirts, socks and issue underwear! Hockey bags are about four foot long and two foot wide (big enough to hold goaly pads, etc). The homeless shelter will be getting them. He'll never wear them and they are the wrong colour for my oldest son to wear under his uniforms.

I bought shoes today. I live in hope of being able to wear them outside before April.

Oh, quick question. Does anybody have a bag from the Cambridge Satchel Company? The schoolbag type? I've been lusting after one and want to know which size is best! 11, 13 or 15 inches and how heavy they feel.

Hope you are warm, dry, and the sun will come out sometime. Global Warming? Hmph. Dawn of the second Ice Age, more like!
