had stuff to say but feeling so sleepy that sensible thoughts have dissolved away.... ah yes wanted to offer(((( pinkdebster)))) and ((((ginny)))) my best hugs... don't know how you cope but you do and I take off my hat to you both. People like you inspire people like me!

monna.... you are anything but boring.... I look forward to your posts especially when I need to smile :)

shegar, I second a slower caffeine withdrawal, that's what I did, can't cope with cold turkey.

Wondercollie, some cold people at the shelter will love your donation, thats a lot of stuff.

Monna I would love to see the Rev in action, Ive never met a lady of the cloth that didnt know how put people in their place ...remembering a nun who took the 6th form on a road trip and found us in the pub...grown men who were nothing to do with us shrunk visibly when she shouted us :D

Pinkdebster if people who are not ill can have down days then you are blummin well allowed them, everyone has bad days. I know what you mean about getting on with things, it has to be done. Can I ask, what do you do without the tube? liquid food? Im nosey I know but am interested in how you go on.

Shegar I cannot live without my diet coke, but obviously would if I was in your position. However if the head ache doesnt go I think (IMHO) that a slower weaning off would be better as head aches can be debilitating.

Had a scary few hours as Oh's face swelled a bit more and was tight, was thinking 999 was in order but after another hour it wasnt as tight and had shrunk slightly. I knew from my own experience about 7 years ago that it is very dangerous if an abcess gets tight and bigger and I was fit when it happened to me. Managed to get some soup down him and ibuprofen and put him back to bed. When your immune system is shot to bu**ery every little illness becomes major as many of you on here have experience of. Ds came and I sent him up to see his Dad, I heard him laughing from down stairs, then shouted to me 'paint him green and he would be Shrek' awful child :rotfl: I thought he looked like the ogre in the travel ad but only from the right! I have to laugh - no other option.

ginny - the antibiotics will work fairly quick, when my face swelled badly, my eye drooped and my whole face looked awful, I genuinely thought I had had a stroke or something but the GP took one look and said oh its only a dental abcess dont panic, I cried like a baby I was so scared. But by next morning my eye wasnt pulled so much and whilst it was still swollen it had receded slightly thank goodness.
I was told to swill out mouth every 15minutes with boiled salted water as well which I think probably helped as well, and I kept a scarf around and kept it warm.
    Hope he feels better tomorrow.

Shegar - I went cold turkey when I ditched, I made the decision then carried it through, and yes I had headaches as well probably for two weeks, but it was bearable, if its bad maybe ask your doctor whether its better to have a slower withdrawal.

Pinkdebster (hugs)) you have a long journey ahead, but we are all here to hold your hand

WC - I am sure your gift will be very gratefully received

Monna - I have had similar parking issues over years having lived in vicarages, and you have my sympathies, my stress levels seriously dropped when parking was no longer a major issue for me :)

I have tooth ache and an abcess, I need to see the dentist but it hasnt been possible for the past two days, have moved heaven, earth and three cars 75 miles in a round trip to free up my morning tomorrow and enable me to get there :)

Kidcat, wouldnt it be lovely if life was simple for you - only you would have to play 3 car tetris just to get to the dentist. Take care hunny. I seriously think you need a break somewhere along the line xxx

  • Morning all,

Debbie, how are you today? I hope you've at least a little sunshine where you are!

Hugs, Kidcat! I hope your dental problems are relieved quickly!

Ginny, how is your OH? I hope the antibiotics are doing their trick.

Monna, your posts always cheer me up, you have such a way with words and making funny stories out of the little things in life.

I've woken up with a headache this morning, probably part of my change in medication. I expect it to hang around for about a week, so not looking forward to that. I've lined up plans for plenty of water and herbal tea today as staying well hydrated seems to take the edge off. OH has a parent's evening tonight and I'm off to help a friend celebrate finishing his PhD. I will probably only go out for a token orange and soda and to hand him his card. He is a very good friend, closer to OH so I wouldn't miss it for the world but not really feeling up to extended revelry today and I know there will be many others there so he'll know we support him but won't miss us.

Hugs to any and all who need them.x
  • Morning :)

Big thanks to Possession and FairyPrincessk for the links, there's some great ideas on there!

MrsLurcherwalker - I can't believe I didn't know about that cook book - I'm a huge Terry Pratchett fan and I LOVE Nanny Ogg! That's definitely going on the birthday list, I spent all of the vouchers we got for Christmas on Terry Pratchett board games lol ;)

The Husbandperson found something brilliant for the party - a humongous piece of gammon reduced down from £32 to £8 in Mr Ts! Just need to find a good glaze recipe, then chop it up into big slabs and have it on a wooden chopping board in the middle of the table :D

Sounds like a few of you are suffering from illness and winter bugs :( Hope you're all felling better soon! I definitely get the winter blues around this time of year, I just can't get myself into gear when the sun's not shining, and I'm constantly tired - Bring on the spring!

Decluttering here, inspired by your thoughts on hoarding. My house is too small to hoard. Discreetly putting a few unwanted gifts into the charity pile and I have a dilemma. A very dear friend gave me a scarf which has rabbit fur pom poms which I cannot bring myself to wear. She does not know they are real. I usually take my stuff to the Edinburgh cat & dog home shop but obviously cannot do that. Any thoughts?

onthecatbus - I score the top of gammon spike with cloves, add a sprinkling of brown sugar or spiced sugar and cook, fifteen minutes before the end I put a few tablespoons of marmalade over the top :)

Ginny loving the car tetris :) Called dentist this morning and the only time they could do was the exact time of DS15 education review meeting which I cant miss, I could have cried, the receptionist took pity on me as I have rang every day and has managed to squeeze me onto tomorrow list :)
  • JULIETTETTE do you have a local Amateur Dramatic Society? if so they will have a props wardrobe and might just be interested in any periphery bits like posh scarves etc to use in their productions. If you have a clothing bank near any good quality things are sold off to help with funds or sent on to the third world so it would help folks either way, Lyn xxx.

Thank you Mrs LW, would like to think of it as some use as it was given with goodness.
