    Morning toughies,

We have beautiful sunshine and some wind so a washload blowing happily on the line. Have a ton to do but DH is busy with study so downed tools to spend some time with the kids (as he usually does on a Sat morn.) DS9 and I had a lovely breakfast together, scrambled eggs and toast and a big chat and I sat with him for a bit while he did some homework. DS7 and I have been doing new Christmas jigsaws which was very absorbing.

I have lots of ideas along the OS/MSE line, just need to energy and time to put them into practice. I will transfer thoughts in to a notebook and gradually work through as get a bit frustrated I can't do them all at once.

I have been asked to vacate the house this afternoon for a while. DH will help boys make me a card which I am not supposed to know about. I also need to select a pressie for myself so will wander round town and secretly let DH know what to steer the boys into "choosing" tomorrow.

    better get weaving

Mar spin dryers are still available, try a local search on ebay, you might be able to get one near you, or even Freecycle.

  • Afternoon all.

Managed to clear out a few cardboards yesterday, Although I feel I cheated that alone was 4 black sacks of rubbish. Proves we have held on to “stuff” for too long.

This morning it was dashing out to get OH some suit trousers. God only knows what happened to the last pair, Took them out of the wardrobe to find a huge tear down the leg. Not happy as its not something that could be repaired either. (Right on the knee)

Then its nipping home for a quick bite to eat. (was good normally we would have eaten out) and heading off down the motorway to a 2 year old’s birthday party.

Done all the washing during the night (Loaded before bedtime) and that’s outside freezing. Makes a change to see some lovely blue skies.

Not happy really, because I feel like its more expense. I would have rather spent this weekend at home. We’re always busy the weekends and I’m fed up with it.

Right, Off to get moving. Speak soon all x

Us too Mar. We've realised the hot water tank has been on all the time and not just kicking in on off peak. That's been draining the electric. We've got the night storage heater down now too so our credit is lasting a little longer.

Pink it is a glorious day here isn't it. I am house hopping in just my tunic and loving the spring in my step.

I too have been doing the meat 3 for £10 and half it. It's working fine for us.

Does any OSers seem to permanently have an empty fridge like us? As soon as I'm paid I want to fill it with ham, cheese, pate, salad, dips and fruit juice. My ladies have fuller fridges than I do and I've a family to feed!

Pinkdebster have you ever tried Complan made with milk? I used to drink that for breakfast when Bfeeding because I often needed the extra calories but could not face a proper breakfast.
  • FUDDLE our fridge is always not exactly full but has things in it as I keep any opened jams or chutneys in there along with the bread and any veg I buy has to be stored in there too or it goes manky very quickly,in fact the only things I don't put in are onions, potatoes and bananas. It looks pretty bleak towards the end of the week until I shop though.

Wonderful day here too, walked the lurcha in golden sunshine under blue skies and in just a couple of days the daffs have grown on and turned their noses over and are just beginning to show yellow petals where they catch the sun on the sheltered bits, so welcome, signs that maybe spring is actually thinking about happening at some point in the not too distant future, YAY!!!!! I am on a long term mission to do the same. For example, I have cut down hoovering a lot to save leccy (and hoover bags and prolong life of hoover.) I sweep as much as possible as no carpet downstairs and even sweep the carpet or use those rubber brushes (our carpets are cheap and old so don't worry about ruining them). Our big rug in the living room gets shaken (better with 2 people as its heavy cotton). Soft furnishing gets the rubber brish or reusable lint thingies treatment. Car gets the shake/sweep method as well. Dh thinks I am slighly mad, friends if they knew the full extent would have confirmation I am totally mad (in a good OS way)

I am pondering whether to get the dishwasher replaced/fixed as I am mananging fine without one. I find quite a lot of our stuff doesn't like being in the dishwasher or needs a 2nd wash anyway. DH wants one even though he doesn't even use the dishwasher much! As a compromise I might have to get a basic one if old one can't be fixed and I won't use it much so it will last for a long time and DH will be happy.

If we didn't have a dishwasher, we would have room for a spin dryer.... there's a thought. Maybe I could get one of those carpet sweepers.... head full of ideas!

I could ramble on all day about saving leccy but need to stick a pasta bake in the oven (and it's not homemade :p)

    sq :)
