Oh gosh, lol, I didn't realise the bump had a name! oh well, if you are going to be kicked, no better way for it to happen!
Fuddle - Mum used to have carers, and there were some awful ones and some great ones - the great ones always took time to talk to Mum and treated her like a human being, not just another job. It sounds like you are going to be a great carer!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Lyn won't mind in the slightest I'm sure
Kez I'm not as selfless as I appear. If I could have been at home with my family on Christmas Day I would have been but as jobs go it felt good to make a difference. I drove past petrol stations in the afternoon and felt for those working in that kind of environment - at least I was able to take happy feelings away with me.
We had an Aladdin panto in the town but at £50 for the family, it was out of our reach this year. Social club sounds like it will be a heck of a lot cheaper. Enjoy!
mrsC I've seen somethings that I am not happy with and already know the carers I have to watch out for. It's about communication and rapport for me. I don't think you can fully 'care' without it.0 -
True Fuddle but at least you actually CARED!!!
I'm waiting for the mash to warm then were having leftovers from yesterday for tea today.
The panto at the little theatre was £55 if booked early, no way could afford that.
The social club one £4 per ticket and kids get a goody bag as well, the drinks will be cheaper to, hopefully .0 -
Hi. It's 3C and raining! This truly a strange winter.
Well, I wound up working four hours on the 24th. The husband told me if I worked the full day there would be hell to pay and that management should grow a backbone and stay with the ORs are closed except for true emergencies. The OR manager was furious because her nurses were all on holiday so bringing them in for the day cost an absolute fortune.
I'd just put the turkey in the oven yesterday when work called and asked if I could work an evening shift. Luckily the Charge called back 20 minutes later to tell me she'd found out the staffing office could send in nurses. My unit is supposed to be skeleton staffed over Christmas with only absolute infections and emergencies admitted. Think glass in the eye, sudden vision loss, etc. And we have an idiot surgeon scheduling emergency cataracts?!!.
Ho, hum. My turkey was good, my trifle was eaten. No family wars. The 2005 version of Lassie was on last night and WonderCollie liked all the barking.
Thought about the sales today and there just wasn't anything that I need badly enough to head out for. There's always next week and if it's meant to be, I'll get it then.
Turkey leftovers her tonight.
Hope you are all safe, warm, and have pleasantly full bellies.
Now, if I can just get the husband to stop watching the John Wayne movie marathon....0 -
