That is great news Fuddle, finally to settle on what you really want to do. We are in contact with a lot of older people working with the RVS, and similar rules apply for when Meals on Wheels are delivered. They have to make visual contact, can't just leave the meal. Anything unusual has to be phoned in so that someone can follow up. It is clear that some carers, for whatever reason, do the bare minimum, whilst others do all they can for their clients. There are so many elderly here, and many of them remote, so every contact has to count. For some people, the only visits they get are from their carers or RVS. OH is naturally outgoing, and has a great laugh with most of the folk he visits, I think it helps that he is a bit cheeky!

Nutty we have had two deliveries today both drivers were unable to use the bridge due to winds. Both said that they were relieved they had so few deliveries to do today.
OH and DS15 are about to head out as he got play station for Christmas and i didn't realise that they now need a subscription to play online within friends. This is his only method of communication with a few friends he went to school with and I the whole reason for my spending so much was to enable him to continue with friendship. So they are off to find a shop selling the subscription.
OH is really annoyed that on top of buying the console we now have to pay this too and i am not happy but to me it's a price worth paying to maintain some sort of friends for him.

    Afternoon all

:jMANY CONGRATULATIONS PRINCESS AND YOUR PRINCE! Wonderful news.

Sorry AOT, Mar, Princess, fuddle and others had awful nights with the wind. Please stay safe.

Monnagran - the Drop-in do sounded brilliant, well done to you and the Rev. Lovely to hear about your DGS wanting a hug ....awwww bet that made your Christmas. Don't forget to check out Dazi's post and enjoy your rest today.

Dazi - hello! what a kind OH you have. Pop back in for a chat any time, you'll be made very welcome.

Fuddle- so proud of you! You have done brilliantly with the move, sorting out schools and everything and now learning the ropes of a rewarding job. The folks on your rounds are very lucky to have you as their carer.

Had a funny day yesterday including 3 phone calls from the rellies. I managed to pick up the phone to both mum and MIL. MIL was the hardest, I was being calm and in control and then she sneaked in a question she already knew the answer to about visiting my parents. She is a psychotherapist and knows how to push peoples' buttons.

DH had a strained conversation with his sister who sent the children's presents late as is the norm and we still haven't got them and postie has been today. (not the actual present we are bothered about, its the kids feeling forgotten.)Only my sister to go who is meant to be phoning today. Looking forward to that call .

I spent a lovely hour cleaning out the pump filter thingy in the washing machine, absolutely clogged with stinky, slimy limescale. Supposed to be self maintaining but obviously not. Hoping our machine will hang on a little longer as all our gadgets seem to be slowly packing up on us.

DS7 was still not feeling great but better today and I ended the day with the bug DS7 had (I think.) DH was in charge of heating up yesterday's leftovers which he managed to burger up - shrivelled turkey anyone? Actually maybe the tummy upsets were more to do with the meal!

Kids have serious cabin fever so DH has taken them out to a favourite beauty spot to let off steam. There are no loos there so I couldn't chance going :rotfl:I got up near lunchtime, very rare for me but was exhausted. Had a play on here and will potter about doing the dishes, laundry etc in a mo, place is a tip after getting it all respectable only a couple of days ago.

take care and stay safe and cosy

Dazi: Yes, it was me and I have PM'd you. You are a saint and one little boy will be very happy.

Fuddle: You are an absolute jewel and I bet your employers will move heaven and earth to keep you. The arrangements for school holidays will make the world of difference to you.

SQ: Thanks. We have had a lovely time today. I didn't wake up till 10.15, I don't think I have ever done that before. The weather doesn't look very inviting so I haven't been tempted to get dressed!

Princess: Congratulations you! How lovely it will be, we can be right beside you through all the stresses and delights of planning a wedding.

Well, the fire and the TV are calling. I love these few days between Christmas and the New Year, all the pressure is off and grim reality hasn't yet kicked in.

Quietened down here a lot now thankfully. Further wind and rain forecast next week. Awful.

I can cope with almost any weather except wind and fog.
I do hope we can settle down to some normal winter weather of frost snow and ice soon, have had quite enough of this scary wind stuff and rain and rain and rain thanks.

  • Evening all, DD1 and I went in to the city today and did some very successful sales shopping and found bargains in John Lewis that were worth having including the dinkiest pair of denim dungarees and a navy and white stripy jumper with a doggie on the front for Ezra in 9 - 12 months size. DD found a quilted gilet and we went on to find a very nice and reasonably priced duvet cover set for her spare room. Had lunch at Waggamummas and were lucky to get a table very quickly, delicious. Came back on the 4.15 bus to a nice cuppa and the fire alight, very nice too!!!

Mrs C yes, Ezra is my very first grandson and is due to arrive on 10th February and he only kicked me because my youngest DD was sitting ( leaning on) beside me on the sofa and he was very wriggly and gave a thump to her tum which got me as well, I loved it!!! I certainly don't mind anyone telling the world about him, I'm just so delighted he's going to come and play with Oma!!!

The weather here has been dry and calm for most of the day, I hope you all managed to stay safe during that storm yesterday, so scary, I hope there is no damage to houses and homes too. Will post properly tomorrow, am freezing in this room so off to get warm and watch the second part of Death Comes to Pemberly, we really enjoyed last nights episode so am looking forward to this one, Lyn xxx.
