    MrsLW - well done

Its been fairly quiet here this afternoon, wind settled for a few hours and all was calm, its building right up again now though, OH made sure he did woofys walk earlier so that they were wrapped up safe indoors before it hits a peak again.

Managed to buy a few things in the sales ready for birthdays, DD7 and DS9 are March so if I can get things now it will be ideal and not too long to store.
I also used OH Christmas bonus and bought three Merlin attraction passes, which means that we can visit lots of places throughout the year, we will get two additional carer passes free when we collect them as well. London attractions are included, so when we finally get to our trip we wont be worried about paying out huge amounts on things like the London eye.

    Morning toughies,

A bit calmer here this morning after more torrential rain and gales yesterday. More on the way for Monday morning.

Couldn't sleep so have been up doing various jobs as quietly as possible. Waiting for DH to surface so that we can take dogs out. Haven't put the heating on as moving round has kept me warm and I begrudge putting any more than I have to in the energy companies' pockets.

Well done to those who got sale bargains. My dd19 was chuffed with her reduced snugly blanket from m and s. I glanced at the half price wrapping paper and cards but didn't buy. I send fewer cards every year and have decided that once we've used what we have, it will be homemade all the way. I have a big roll of brown paper which makes great wrapping with some pretty raffia tied round, all part of trying to move away from consumerism gone mad.

One of the local radio presenters was bemoaning the lack of bin collections over Christmas and that he couldn't get his surplus food collected as 'you can't possibly eat all your Christmas food'. Duh!!!! Buy less in the first place might be an idea.....

Sort of back to normal today with both DDs going to their Saturday jobs. Think they are looking forward to being out and about again although we've loved shutting ourselves away for a couple of days.

    Have a good day everyone

Don't forget Lidly have 4 x Branst@n beans for £1 this weekend if you need to stock up.

Sq you were fab with your calls! well done :)

Great deals kidcat , the kids will love it!

Alfsmum yep its daft saying about excess food away. Just buy, less simples.

    Panto day today!
Ds2 is bouncing, were watching epic at the moment.
hes been feeding me chocolate, crisps and jam on toast. My little mans birthday breakfast for me.
  • Morning Toughies, He Who Knows and DD1 are up fixing the polytunnel door as the frame has moved with all the high winds and the doors won't close properly, then we're off to a local garden centre as DD is off skiing tomorrow and wants an inner set of knitted gloves to go inside her ski gloves. We're going to treat ourselves to a jacket potato lunch there in the cafe as we can take our boy in and he will sit under the table, very civilised!!!

I am very happy this morning, I've been watching what I eat for a couple of months and given up alcohol entirely and today I fit into my size 18 jeans again for the first time in 3 years, I know I've got a way to go yet before I feel healthy and fit again but the morale boost I feel at the moment is amazing. I decided I wanted to be an Oma who could play chase with Ezra when he's toddling around and it's just the incentive I needed to make the effort and lose the weight. I'll keep on doing what I'm doing as it is working for me and hope the two sizes I'd like to lose go as easily as the last 2 have.

I'm going to use up the last of the christmas beef to make a big pot of wartime soup called Hotch Potch for supper tomorrow and the last of the gammon will go into an egg and bacon pie for in the week, we've had nice eats this year and not felt overfull or uncomfortable over the last few days but I'll be pleased to get back to 'normal' food again and really want fish and chips (homemade L/F chips that is!) but will not be defrosting any fish until all the odds and ends from christmas are used up.

Have a good day everyone, the sun is shining here and I can see blue sky but it's not very warm so I'm looking forward to a wrapped up houndy walk this afternoon, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Yay well done on the weight loss MrsLW, sensible eating is definitely the way to go and what a lovely incentive you have.

We are looking forward to eating normally again too!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEZLOU! Hope you have a wonderful day and enjoyed your birthday breakfast!

Well done Mrs LW! What a result, you must feel (and look) a million dollars!

Welcome to wellylass, hope you will pop by again soon.

thanks for all the nice posts about my phone calls - answered the last one yesterday from my sister who I haven't spoken to in well over a year. DH was in the bath but instead of letting go to answerphone I spoke to her - civilised small talk but at least the kids can hear that. She only phoned to speak to the kids really but that's fine.

Feeling lighter today and tackling some chores. Beds being changed, tackling the ever growing laundry pile etc while we have sunshine. Our dishwasher has kaput so rediscovering the joy of doing lots of washing up. Don't mind as a novelty and wondering whether we shouldn't replace the old machine. I might change my mind after a couple of weeks though and DH is insistent we get another dishwasher. I am thinking, as ever of the cost as we will need a new washing machine soon and I want to replace the food processor that broke recently as well as all the house repairs.

DH has taken boys to the woods with their walkie talkies (Christmas pressie DS9 has wanted for years). I have been indoors since the 23rd I think, needed to hibernate but will definitely pop out later to post something and go out properly tomorrow. I know I will enjoy being out and about now.

    sq:)

    Happy Birthday Kez!!

Great stuff Mrs L - DH was most impressed when he got on the scales for his weekly weigh yesterday to find that he'd even lost weight Christmas week (and he'd had some time off from the Hairy Dieters)! He's lost a lb short of a stone since the beginning of December and I noticed this morning that his tops are starting to fit him better again.

We've been saving for the sales for a while as there were a few big things we really could do with and ordered some stuff online on Boxing day - so much more civilised than actually having to go into the shops - so it has been like Christmas all over again here today. DH's new laptop arrived first, closely followed by the clothes I promised him if he started to lose the weight, then the big telly came (only a 32", not horridly massive, but bigger than I'd really like) had to get a bigger one so the kids could see it better (both partially sighted) and we can already tell that DS is getting more from it - it's not just bigger but the definition is clearer and the sound better so will help all round. My early b'day pressie will be at Mr T to collect from 4 - a Tefal kitchen machine, I used all the clubcard vouchers and it was in the sale so it wasn't that much more than I'd have spent anyway on a new processor (old one gave up ghost a couple of weeks back) and the steam cleaner is due next week. Sounds extravagant, but we've been putting money away for a bit and that's it for ages - might as well get things at a good price in the sale if I can!!

Hope you are all well - hugs X
  • Hello to all.

My chest is finally feeling a little better and we have a bright, not very windy day here, so I have had a short visit to shops. Chemist mainly for medicinal refills, but also caught a few bargains on half price Christmas wrap etc. I don't buy it for me - have very few things to wrap theses days - but for next year's Church Fair. :D:D

Normally I would be trying to take advantage of food bargains but my freezer is still full as have been so ill over Christmas have just not been eating.

Also managed to get one load of washing out to take advantage of the sunshine. And just as I say that grey clouds cover the sun - typical.

    Have a nice day.

Well we have had a busy morning so far. I have decided to take all the Christmas decorations down as it just feels so clostrafobic in here. Have done 2 loads of washing already, just stripped the bed and that's waiting to go in. The other bits are blowing on the line.

I visited eldest DD this morning too, she has decided that they are looking to move in the new year. They are in a little terrace house and the new neighbours she has are very noisy.
I went sheet shopping yesterday, forgot how expensive they are. I wanted a fitted sheet in flanalette for warmth and most shops were asking in the region of £15 but today popped into boyes and managed to find one for £9.

MRS LW well done on the weight loss, I am determined to start in the new year, I would like to loose 2 stone and any more will be a bonus. Maybe we should start a mini club on here to help each other on - and we can post each week how much we manage to loose. I know I need all the help and support I can get as my willpower does disappear on occasions.

Take care everyone, housework is calling.
