Oh that's beautiful, instantly recognisable from the photos I've seen of him. What a lovely thing to own. No wonder you had a tear x"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0

Sorry for the late wishes, Happy Christmas everyone. Our electric and broadband have been on and off since yesterday, surrounded by floodwaters but all friends and family are now all safe and well. Have a lovely Boxing day.

nan2many - hope all is well for you now
mrsc - wow what a gorgeous picture
Evening toughies, its been a lovely day, DS9 made history by sleeping by midnight and staying asleep until 7am!!! I of course spent the night waiting for him to wake up
Its been so relaxed here all day and everyone has been happy and chilled, the decision to not invite my parents was definitely the right one. They did arrive, deliberately half an hour before they know I serve dinner, and did their best to cause trouble and stir things up, bought a gift that was stupidly expensive, inappropriate and of no use to us, dropped hints of having spent loads of time iwth extended family etc . But I insisted that as I was almost ready to serve dinner they had to "visit" in the kitchen diner. That meant I could watch dinner and carry on, so when they realised we werent going to allow them to spoil things they left.
The rest of the day went really well, kids loved their gifts, dinner went well and the cat who lives a few streets up (she has been visiting now for a few weeks) had clearly been locked out for the day, so she popped in for dinner too :rotfl: After dinner OH got the snow machine out and the kids had fun in the snow.
Its now bedtime, onesies are all on and kids are going to bed calm and smiling, no tears, meltdowns or shouting.
Tomorrow we usually visit my parents but I told them last week we were not going, we originally planned to visit my friend near London and then spend a day in London afterwards, however with the weather looking bad we decided to not risk it, so will go half term instead. So tomorrow should be a really relaxed day again
Pooky - we cant watch the Dr Who tonight either, we still havent watched the previous one (oops) as I had forgotten we still had it.
SQ - dont let the call define your day, look at it as a ten minute interlude, and get on with enjoying your family time.
Nutty - that is an amazing gift, and truly well deserved.
May everyone have a peaceful evening this evening:)0 -
Happy Christmas all XXXXX
Kidcat, that sounds like a lovely day, so pleased for you, glad you were able to sidestep any relative problems and have a calm day with your family.
SQ - hugs for tomorrow - hope the call comes and goes without causing too many ructions.
Had a lovely day with my parents - they've been the perfect guests! and so lovely to look after them for a change. The Beef Wellington turned out amazingly well - just the perfect rare middle and such tasty meat, was more that a few OS pennies but so worth it for a special treat, and my parents did bring all the alcohol for the day, including a lovely bottle of madeira which will be a treat for a while so it all evens out. Besides any cost considerations went way out of the window when DD put the first bite in her mouth and her eyes lit up and she was saying mmmmmmmmmmm and patting her tum! DS was just happy to have meat and pastry and mushrooms all on the same plate with goose fat roast potatoes thrown in to top it off as the perfect 'man plate' - have to say he did also eat all his carrots, green beans and leeks though brussel sprouts produced a photo worthy face of disgust! DD is with me though and asked for not just seconds but also thirds of the small green things
Somehow have to find the room to et a big breakfast in the village hall tomorrow - I'm sure we'll manage!!!
Night all, take care - XXX0 -

Stiltwalker im with your ds sprouts are the food of the devil, I was shuddering when they were cooking yesterday. another lovely day for you all. Enjoy your breakfast xxxx
Nutty.enjoy your spa, such a lovely gift x
We had a very relaxing chilled out day, no major tantrums no major upsets just enjoyed ourselves.
Visited my mum for an hour with the boys, OH watched the dinner and the cats.
Came back home and we all laughed and joked till we had dinner at 3pm. My dad and FIL came for christmas dinner and we were absolutely stuffed. No room for dessert, just over stuffed on roasties and yorkshire puddings. DS2 had a good day and was gutted when his gammon went flying out of hand. So he had some more. DS1 said it was the best chistmas dinner ever and loved the peri peri marinated chicken.
FIL had a go at ds2 when his meat went flying, i said excuse ds2 did really well trying to cut his own meat so leave him alone. When FIL tried to say something extremely nasty my dad shot him such a look that he shut up straight away. My dad knows how much ds2 tries hard to cut things and use cutlery but with his joints being so hyper mobile its very hard for him. So i'm lucky my dad was there because OH wouldn't have said anything to back us up.
The new kittens have settled really well and spent the day scoffing kitten biscuits, cat milk and playing with us all. They love the tree! nearly went flying at some point :rotfl: Were used to that though with the adult cats, they climb it and all sorts.
Pooky just thought i would reassure you that the kittens arrived on christmas morning, It was supposed to be the 27th but the rescue centre had a severe come in and they thought it had cat flu, so i was phoned and asked if could take them early. I was prepared luckily so we took them early. They very scared at first and just wanted to sit on my feet for the first twenty minutes. We showed them were the litter and food were, scoffed a load of biccies and cat milk then the little kitties went exploring in the living room and that was it. they were off happily playing. They so boisterous and very cheeky. Lovely personalities, originally ds2 named them "lovely" and "wonderous" but later changed they names to Jack and Jill.
The female adult cats don't like them one bit ad spent most of the day eating they cat meat and wandering up and down the stairs. Our male cat tom seems quite chilled laying on his back with his legs in the air. He won't let them jump on him yet but he just lays down and watches them, he's very curious about them.
So our day was fab, very chilled as soon as FIL was put in his place. We all sat and watched the snowman with lights off and the chrisrmas tree on. Loved every bit of the day.:D0 -
Thanks for the reassurance Kez
. (watch the cat milk though, it tends to go straight through kittens......)
Stilty - your day sounds lovely. Hope you found room for breakfast.
Gorgeous looking morning here, blue skies and not a breath of wind....how long will that last?
DH had probably his worst night ever pain wise so I feel a bit zombiefied this morning, I'm sure he will spend most of the day in bed. We have no plans as DD1 is working 2-8pm, so another relaxed day and maybe a walk for DD2 and I to get a bit of fresh air on the cliffs.
Turkey mayo rolls for lunch and then I'll do cold meats, pickles and chips for tea when DD2 gets home"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Morning everyone, beautiful sunny day here but very cold and frosty, slipped on the back step when I went to the bin as it was a sheet of ice but managed to stay upright and intact so no harm done. We had such a lovely day yesterday just the 4 and 1/2 of us and our boy, did a lot of laughing and dog walking just right. Today DD2 has to leave for home in the early afternoon as she's working tomorrow and DD1 and I will be heading to the city on Friday more out of interest than in anticipation of bargains in the sales. Hope everyone has a lovely day today we're having cold cuts and bubble and squeak today with lots of H/M pickles and chutney and the christmas pudding we couldn't manage yesterday. I think I like this the best of any meal we have at christmas so looking forward to lunch!!! Have fun my friends, Lyn xxx.0

So pleased I've reassured you, they both sat next to me and ds2 watching scooby doo.
What a lovely day you all have planned.
not sure what were doing today, all I know is thats its.very icy and frosty outside. But whatever we do it will involve relaxing and a film0 -
Morning all.
I have spent the morning pottering in kitchen as we have friends round tonight. I like pottering when there is not really any pressure. Trifle made and a lemon cheesecake. DD was going to do is Yule log but doesn't seem inclined to at the moment. Still we also have left over sticky toffee pud from yesterday if we go short.
Then I watched Downton, whilst wrapping 40 odd lucky dip presents for games later. they are mostly made of things bought in error over the years (a kite, some beady necklaces etc), a few things not wanted that were freebies (a cookery book, some toiletries,) then stuff from Home Bragains or pound shop (mugs, hankies, mini hair spray) I reckon I spent under £20
I also made my Santa chocolate sleighs, they aren't half bad
There is one for every child who is coming into the house over the next couple of days.
This afternoon DD and I are off to the pictures (to see Frozen) while the men go to the footie, then fun and games later
Have a lovely Boxing Day all. It is my favourite day of the season.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I got all the stuff for sleighs but asda sent me the wee tiny candy canes and after half an hour of swearing I threw them all into bags and gave them to kids that way lol0
