  • Morning all.

I have to say this group & all its members are amazing. It seems even those who just read club together with information, advice, support for those of us who needs it.

I have to say, Fuddle & nutty seems like a force “NOT” be reckoned with when it comes to debt & BR clearance. Kez, You seem to have some support there honey.
They have lived the heartache your going through therefore have so much to offer in terms of advice. Please take it chick.

Spent the weekend feeling very sorry for myself. Baby Ruby has an awful cold, And when I see her Friday I kept kissing her, Having cuddles ect. I’m pretty sure she has learnt from birth to share her lergies with aunty V.V.

I’m pottering today, still waiting for postie. I’m so grateful for the bargains found on MSE. Still under budget & only one person left to buy for.

OH nearly done too. A few more little bits for stocking, But main presents done. Then I can focus on ruby. I think I might keep some money behind and hit the sales and get her clothes ect for the next few months as toys seems covered.

Anyways, Better get moving. Thinking off everybody in these tough times x
I completely agree with you on this.

Hello Im a lurker but love reading your posts. I find turmeric helpfull. Last year I had pnuemonia. After coming out of hospital I wanted to help myself recover. I had a book which talks about how our mind and what we eat can help us heal. I instinctively knew I could not eat cold foods but needed spicy food. I looked up what various spices and herbs helped with. Turmeric was top of the list for me. Not medical advice. Just my experience.

Jem ((hugs)) racing off on my school runs etc - but when I get back I will reply properly - in meantime please see if you can find out who your parent partnership officer is and call them -they can run the fight for you if needs be. Its what they are paid to do.
  • Morning all,

Hugs, many of you really seem busy and stressed. I haven't experience in most of these areas so all I can offer is support, but I do love how much people share their experience and knowledge on this thread. BR is terribly difficult and I think it is brave that those of you have been through it can offer suggestions to those who have debts or are worried--even if they aren't at the BR stage. Likewise those of you who have so much experience getting support for your children.

I do have a couple of ideas on the sleep as I struggled when younger. Make sure the child eats at least half an hour before bed as digestion can delay sleep, and like others have said minimal screen time. Music never worked for me, but smells do. I have a little pot of badger ointment I use before going to sleep. Its quite pricey (£4/tin last time:eek:) but does last me a couple of years. I also have an eye mask as I can't sleep if there is light. I'm usually terrible in the summer, and wake up very early but the mask and thick curtains help. Because I've used the mask and the badger for so long now I get sleepy when I smell the smell and put the mask on. Its a bit of a calming routine. As a child I used to do visualisations. I used to design a garden for my pegasus to live in, or a tree house next to the beach in a forest....the main thing is to pick a quiet scenario and then let the child think about that with their eyes closed. It helped to distract me from being anxious about sleeping but since it was in my head it didn't keep me awake the way music did.

Right, time for me to get to work. A bit tired today as neighbours have been loud two nights in a row.:(
  • Little ones who find it hard to get off to sleep sometimes are helped by CHAMOMILE TEA which helps de-stress them and is mildly sedative, mind it works on big ones too! It is a different taste from the normal and little people usually like it with honey. It really helps, Lyn xxx.
  • Good point Lyn, in fact there is even a type of tea called 'sleepy time' that my mum used to give me. I believe it was chamomile. I can attest that the twinings honey vanilla chamomile (i think that is the combination!) is a bit sweeter but still quite soothing.

I will try chamomile tea (although it always makes me need the toilet so I have visions of her waking up through the night now even if she gets to sleep, LOL!). I've always been quite against using music etc as I had cousins who could only get to sleep if music was playing, and if they stayed music had to play - consequently my sister and I couldn't get to sleep. So that will only be my last resort. A good dog walk just before bed might help too. She doesn't have any screen time after about 7.30 and doesn't eat just before bed. She usually reads in bed unless it's very late.
Of course, last night after I'd written on here she went to sleep on her own so perhaps that's the answer, just moan about her on this thread every night. Anyway thankyou for all your ideas, I shall subtly try them all out. And I had resigned myself to someone telling me to use some kind of lavender on her pillow (I absolutely hate the smell of lavender, it makes me feel sick) but nobody did so I'm off the hook!
McCulloch and anyone else regularly taking anti-inflammatories, do protect your stomach too. I took diclofenac for years for my knees and consequently I now have to take medication for reflux as it has damaged my stomach.

Lavender oil also can help you drop off to sleep and I put it on my pillow nearest to Dh when he is snoring too much so I can't sleep. It makes him turn over so not sure if he doesn't like the smell but it does stop the snoring long enough for me to go to sleep. :)
