Possession - sorry to hear that DH didn't get the job, any more interviews in the pipeline?

Spent money that I wasn't planning to send until the sales today but got a good deal (being ever so MSE we haggled a lot and then threw in that we wanted an extra discount as quldc0 were offering a good deal - he matched the discount!!) and so I have 2 new sofas arriving next week. Our poor old sofa was 2nd hand when we got it, we've had it 5 years and it really isn't great for DH to get in and out of. I now have to rearrange the entire room (including moving the tree) and reroute lots of wires. Worth it though.

Never did find the red napkins that I went out looking for.....but hey, we will have to make do with paper ones now :).

My savings are well and truly depleted now and I need to ramp up the grocery challenge to recoup and renew the account.

Possession ((hugs)) there must be something better out there I am sure.

Pooky well done. We both a tv during black Friday sales as the dining room one was dying and the boys rely on them. It was the first ever new tv we have bought in all our time together. We needs sofas too but I am thinking that if I can squeeze a year out of these the boys will be that little bit older.

My collection finally happened at 5.45pm. Just relieved its gone.

Possession I truly believe when one door closes another will open, or that we are saved from worse things. A friend of ours didnt get a job a few weeks back and he was devastated, the firm went under this week, no warning and no notice. Thinking of you all :)

OH isnt happy withe cleaner being booked, I think he thought it wouldnt happen, however I am sticking to it and to be honest quite excited by it.

Ha ha, stick to your cleaning guns Kidcat, I wish we could still afford a cleaner, I LOVED it when we had a cleaner. More to the point my house loved it, I don't think my house loves me now...

Can I just ask, what are your remedies for a child who can't get to sleep? DD (8) is gradually getting herself into a tizzy and finding it very hard to get to sleep. She gets herself into a state and is crying by 10pm, despite going up by 8pm. She gets like this around Christmas, it's the excitement. Two years ago on Christmas Eve she didn't go to sleep until 1.30am, and I then had to put the presents out, it was a nightmare! Given that I presume she can't be prescribed knockout drops (!), does anyone have any tried and tested techniques? We already do no screens for a while before bedtime etc, and she has a routine it's just that she can't get to sleep and ends up lying in bed for hours getting more and more upset that she can't sleep. (And on Christmas Eve getting more and more stressed that Santa won't come because she's awake...) I would like to get this sorted in the next week or so, I don't want a repeat of a sleep-deprived child on Christmas Day.
