Hi possession
just reading along, hugs all. Will be back later for a proper catch up.
But re sleepless child, my youngest has ADHD. Didn't sleep, but would happily stay in bed listening to a Walkman.... old style kids story tapes. Then we found that listening to the tapes had a knock on effect, she started to. Want to read books, and the audio stimulation gave her over active brain something to do and she started to sleep better..
Hope that helps.today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

possession we are doing sleep therapy at the moment (its not working but we didnt expect it to, DS just doesnt need sleep but for normal kids it apparently works) and routine is vital, the usual milky drinks and relaxing music before going up. I downloaded mediation stuff from @mazon and DS15 has been listening to those with some success.
I have also with the girls gone down the think of all your worries and blow them away in a balloon type things which worked with DD19 when she was young - but not so much with DD70 -
DD1 was like that too when she was little, she'd work her self up and up every night and it would get worse and worse. We then let her snuggle in our bed and have a cd on low or the tv, just enough volume to be a background noise. I'd lay with her and just talk, she had to listen, I'd rumble on about anything, the more boring the better (I once described each aisle in the supermarket)..... But no stories that would make her pay attention. It took about 2 weeks to get to the stage where she could just snuggle down input bed with a cd/radio on and be asleep in 5 mins, I'd en move her back to her room. Even now she has to fall asleep with music on (she has it on a timer for 10 minutes). I'm similar in that if it's quiet my brain goes into overdrive but if I fall asleep listening to something then I'm out like a light."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Possession,
My eldest couldn't sleep one Christmas eve and began to get upset that Santa wouldn't come because she wasn't asleep.
I told her not to worry because Santa had magic sprinkle dust he uses to get children to sleep before he visits.
She was fast asleep 5 mins after.0 -
Refusing to / being unable to sleep... I sympathise so much.
My DD (now 35..) and DS (30) both needed a lot of physical exercise and fresh air when tots to wear them out so that they would go to bed before 11 pm.
I was lucky, when DD was small we lived in a German village built on a hill and could go for long, long walks every afternoon in pure, clear air. When DS was small, back in the UK, we had a big dog so HAD to go for long, long walks etc.
Bedtime stories along with small milky drinks built a comforting routine that the children still remember fondly.
It doesn't always work.My friend had a daughter that needed 2 hours sleep and refused to sleep more no matter what. She walked at seven months.

OK here, at long last.
my last two weeks have been filed with preps for DH's birthday celebrations which were on Saturday, as you know he wanted cowboys and Indians, so i want all out. I made all the food, in batches, cakes, sausage rolls, mini quiches, the lot. plus sandwiches and jelly and stuff on sticks on the Saturday morning.
I also made cardboard cactus, to put around the rooms, loads of arrows made from either kebab sticks or tooth picks to put around the place and on food as labels.
there were signs like no spitting, or leave you guns at the door, sheriffs office, jail. there was a stable to put your horses. ( brought a hobby horse from a CS, made lots of new friends walking around the town carrying it!) there were games, home made pin the hat on the cowboy, buckaroo, tin can allay. and an epic pass the parcel with jokes and presents in each layer.
it was amazing, but was absolutely shattered on Saturday night.
then Sunday we had a family get together at a local restaurant. there are over 40 of us and we get together once or twice a year , we take over the place.... we have never been to the same place twice.. wonder why?
anyway. DH is ok. he has been answering the phone by saying, hi, I'm still alive how can i help you...? he does currently have a chest infection which is a little worrying but hopefully the antibiotics will help.
I have tried 3 times to fill in the CA form on line and have now given up. will try to find one to print out and do it the old fashioned way.
al right enough from me,
hope everyone is doing ok.
cheering for all the good things that are happening in peoples lives..
hugs for those struggling and offering support in any way I can , even if it is just sending positive vibes.

Lots of good advice for helping sleep.
I once offered my eldest hyperactive son 50p if he could stay awake all night when he said he couldn't sleep. He never got the 50p. The effort of trying to stay awake put him to sleep0 -
I know that lots of you suffer joint pain, as do I.
I've been trying turmeric alongside my normal anti-inflammatories. Alongside, not instead of.
Great results so far, even in these early days. I know I can't give medical advice on here, but I wanted to let you know that it's worked for me.
I've followed the advice of the Turmeric Users Group on FB and added a dozen grinds of black pepper and olive oil to make it into a paste. Take one teaspoon
It tastes foul but a quick slug of juice washes away the taste. I've got a few days supply made up and stored covered in the fridge.
Also those of you using the Aldi Christmas App may have spotted that there is a £5 voucher in THIS THURSDAY'S DAILY MIRROR. :j :jErma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Interesting muccollach. Turmeric is proving to be a wonder suppliment. I'm reading more and more of its benefits but can't at all remember what they are.
Possession DD 9 doesn't fall asleep till gone 9 but we have her in bed by 8. She has a horlicks as part if her supper then reads with a dull light. I don't know if your DD plays any interactive devices but we have a rule that games etc are not played after 6pm. Not sleeping is awful. It's soul destroying laying there willing yourself to sleep.
Speaking of which. I am victim of my own tightness this early hour. I wash in the night to take advantage if the economy7 tariff but didn't account for the rumble bangs of muddy walking boots as it tumbled round and round!
Boult I came down to not be able to smell carpet cats pee. The bicarb has worked! I should never have doubted it should I? I think it needed all the cleaning before hand but that final waft has gone. Ill do it again in a few days.
Steamed pudding done in slow cooker for tonight's meal and finally get to have the pork, veg and mashed potato also 6 potatoes cost me £2.47 in Waitrose. I did manage to get my membership card so next time I need to get something quickly a free coffee will soften the blow.0
