What have I missed? Is the RV being extra-stroppy Mar? Just serve him gruel while making yourself delicious microwave sponges.
SDG that's awful. Her family should be absolutely ashamed of themselves, both for letting you take care of her and for what they are not doing now.
DH had an interview yesterday for a short contract and has one next week for a permanent role so fingers crossed for that one, he'd rather like it.0 -
SDG, I hope you told the nursing home that, as well as getting venting here. :grouphug: I can't imagine how distressing that whole experience must have been for you but hope you can move on from the upset of the phone call.
Can I share a couple of things that have got me really excited?
We have bought the house next-door to our terraced home and I've now got a lot of cleaning-up to do...we've got a party wall between the 2 houses and after taking out enough to put in the lintels yesterday, the builders are taking all the bricks out today so they will be connected. Most people have an extension built for them but we've bought one that's ready to move into!
My other major excitement is that my lovely cream enamel range is being delivered tomorrow, and hopefully fitted on Sunday :j Can't wait to get on with my baking now :T :T0 -
SDG, well done on being such a lovely person and taking on the care of this lady. Im sure she appreciated being treated with such compassion and empathy but you need to be good to yourself now. Its very tiring mentally and physically being a carer and you did a wonderful job.
Nuttp I do hope your Mum is ok, she is hopefully in the best place and can be assessed. What a worry.
Floss, well done on the house, I would love to buy my neighbours empty garden never mind the house. I am well envious of your new range but I could never keep a cream one clean.
possession fingers crossed for your hubby. xx
All quiet here, OH playing with his models (airfix not super :rotfl:) upstairs after this morning blood tests for his cancer update. Now for a very long couple of weeks waiting for results.

Hiya all.
Been very busy this morning. Been up since 4, Then out the door by 8 this morning at Asda for the BF deals. Whilst there - we witnessed sheer greed and horrid people. The 32 inch TV’s was gone within a matter of minutes. This was a result of someone trying to be greedy.
Seemed a wasted journey in the end. Nothing again caught my eye and it was far to busy to be standing around. I twice nearly had a panic attack but luckily I was with my brother & SIL.
I have just finished the house work, Brother & SIL are getting baby ruby ready and bringing her down to us so we can have her over night ready to meet Santa tomorrow for the first ever time!!
MRSLW thanks for the tips about sponge puds. Their our fav in this house and a lot of cash is spent on buying them. Now there is no need. Xx

Afternoon all,
Ginny, you'll both be in my thoughts. It is such a tough wait, but I'll be hoping for the very best for you all.
Princess, Have fun with baby Ruby! Every child in my family has cried for the first meeting of Mr. Claus, makes for funny photos years later, hopefully Baby Ruby will enjoy it.
SDG, all I can offer is hugs and reassurance that you're right to need a vent after that!
Mar, tell him he can re-do that house as long as he finds equal money for you to devote to your craft and hobby rooms. I'm thinking delux yarn storage and shelves with wee holes for your soap moulds? There won't be room for your projects in the show part of the house so you'll need a state of the art workshop--and you spin, I think? A new spinning wheel or two and space for dying your wool. A nice shiny tub for it and drying racks. Sorry, I'm sure you could do better, I'm more into sewing and paper crafts. If that doesn't work then tell him to stop being a grump so that you can get on with your enjoying yourself.
Well, I had a terrible day yesterday. It turns out the 'weird' smell in the bathroom wasn't because OH hadn't been cleaning it properly. It was because he forgot there were mouse traps behind the bath panel:( The pest control said they were sure the problem was in a neighbouring terrace, so I guess OH left some traps down to catch the odd ones we kept seeing around. Unfortunately he didn't check them. I hate to think how long it was there that it started to smell that bad _pale_
Anyway, as I've mentioned before one of our neighbours is very troubled and has many friends in and out who are also quite troubled. I was just leaving for work when I discovered a woman on next door's front step. She had a bad black eye, half of her face was bruised and a large knot on her head. She said her partner had hit her with a steel pole and she was crying a bit and seemed in pain. She asked me if it was bad and I didn't want to alarm her just asked if she'd seen a doctor and she said no but that she didn't want an ambulance. I phoned her surgery but of course they only said she needed A&E. She was a bit confused and sleepy and talking at a whisper so I was worried she may have a concussion but I was worried she'd walk off if I phoned an ambulance and then they'd come out and not be able to find her. She also had a bottle of wine and a plastic cup, so I couldn't really determine much about the state she was in. I called her a taxi (fortunately I had enough cash on me) but she got up and walked away at that point saying she couldn't take money from me. At this point I was really worried I'd be late for teaching and none of my colleagues were answering to let the students know, but there was no way I thought I could just leave her. I tried all of the neighbours for help and the one who was home didn't want to get involved. The taxi arrive so I had to send them away as she'd rounded the corner then I don't think she'd have got in. I tried 111, but I didn't know enough about her. At that point I couldn't find her so I had to phone 999. They were helpful, and said they'd send someone out to look for her, so I went straight to work as I was almost late at that point. I just kept thinking about her all day, hoping she'd been found and gotten help. Of course, my neighbour doesn't like any dealings with the police so I was afraid I'd come home to him angry and drunk on my doorstep. It was a long day, to say that least.
Anyway, teaching done for today and lots to do this afternoon. Post office, baking pies for the celebration tomorrow, the gym and hopefully a bit of work crammed in there.
Hugs to you all, and Lyn--that pudding recipe is just too tempting! I might have two mugs for my afternoon cuppa, one with tea and one with cake!0 -

monna - we always say what goes around comes around or karma always hits home hardest when your least expecting it. When our kids were little we had nothing, all OH family had loads - now we have nothing still but I think my girls are nice kind and hardworking. They appreciate everything, weather it be new or given second hand.
When you do a good deed, its always recorded somewhere...... and something good returns to you.
