  • We've had a microwave since the girls were little, it's not something I cook in, although I perhaps should but it's used for making porridge in the mornings, re heats of tea if there's any left in the pot, making steamed sponge puddings, making custard and sauces like cheese sauce etc.,reheating homemade soups and meals if the recipe lasts us 2 days. It's a really useful bit of kit and not something I'd like to be without,I really must make an effort and at least learn to cook veg in it, I've got some special microwave bags to use, I'll have a go this weekend. If anyone wants it I've got a recipe for a microwave pudding in a mug, very nice if you're on your own for a meal, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Yes please Lyn would like the microwave pud in a mug recipe. I don't very often have pud but occasionally fancy something.

I have a combination microwave (£20 from an advert in a shop) and I wouldn't be without it. I use it for all the things Lyn said, also use the convection oven to cook in, to save putting on the big oven as there is only me to cook for. I use the big oven when I have visitors, for a roast on Sunday etc.

mar just do what lyn said, annoy the heck out of him. He'll soon beg for the old ways!

    men

well i've been today for first time since last thursday:eek:
OH ds1 and DS2 are all off work / school so have al been torturing me.
couldn't pay the rent online so decided to go the council office to pay rent.
Set off and there was OH saying oh go later i.e not at all, i just said look if i don't go now it will never happen. Cue me in absolute agony armed with a walking stick limping out the door. He could easily have taken me in the van to the office and bought the shopping we needed and would have taken 15 minutes max.

Instead it took me over an hour to walk to the office and go to morrisions. I phoned him saying i won't be long i'll be home in about 10 minutes. Didn't tell him I was going to order a taxi with the shopping, i was in that much pain. He then oh i'll pick you i'm starving :mad:

I was fuming, so i'm now in blooming agony still, losing my voice and feeling like carp. DS2 was vomiting all last night, but apprently he ahd a great sleep.Lucky get

  • 5 Minute Microwave Mug Cake

4 tablespoons S/R Flour (rounded spoons for all dry ingredients)
    4 tablespoons sugar
    2 tablespoons cocoa powder
    1 egg
    3 tablespoons of milk
3 tablespoons of oil (sunflower or other)
    1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract/essence
    1 very large mug.

put the flour, sugar and cocoa into the mug and mix well. Add the egg and mix well. Add the milk, vanilla and oil and mix thoroughly then put the mug into the microwave and cook on high for 3 minutes. The cake will rise to the top of the mug. Leave it to stand for a couple of minutes then turn it out onto a plate and serve with ice cream, cream or chocolate sauce. You can also add in some chocolate chips if you like them.

You can use a little less flour, sugar and cocoa if you have a smaller mug!

Hope you like it, Lyn xxx.

MrsL, is that like a sponge pudding? I've been buying the wee microwave sponge puds from Asda at £1 for two, if I could make my own easily and quickly then I would.

Hi everyone, had a busy day attending a work meeting. It took me nearly 2 hours to drive there, and then whole process was over in less than 3 hours. then I had the same amount of time driving home. Was not something I wish to attend to again in a hurry.

Popped into town and picked up 2 copies of mirror paper for vouchers. Will do the shopping tomorrow morning with my mum. I would have gone this evening but I know I would be impulse buying as I have no shopping list done.

MRS LW thankyou for the recipe, will be trying that later on I think. I wonder if jam would be ok in it??

OH has become really lovely just lately, I know im speaking too soon. I had a melt down today as the road I go on was closed and I was panicing as I was 'lost'. He rang me then called again later to check I was alright. He even rang me just before the meeting started to say he loved me. Now he has never been like this before really, he said he wants to remind me everyday how much he needs me. Its nice to feel wanted!!!

Well must go and start some tea, and have a nice well earned drink. Take care everyone

When he asks what's for dinner, tell him you don't know, you're waiting for him to go to M&S and bring it back to heat it up... (actually, save this for a day when you've made sure the kitchen is spotless - shutting him out and not letting him use the kettle 'because it's being descaled') and tell him he can't use anything because it will get dirty.

Follow Lyn's idea and overdo the housework trying to get things shiny... ever finger print on a lightswitch is a reason to tell him that he's stopping you from getting the house how he'd like it!

In the meantime, if you can get him looking at catalogues and measuring up for new stuff it will at least keep him busy. Just make sure he doesn't have access to any cash...
