Well done Fuddle and the Stiltys!
MONNAGRAN glad you enjoyed the cushion cover creating - looking forward to the photoshope the church mag writing flows easily for you.
Hope all those who are poorly or looking after poorlies are bearing up. Pretty dismal weather doesn't help.
Princess like you I'm a bit nervous about running our stocks down too much but I REALLY need to defrost our little freezers so have to get one of them empty then I can defrost them in turn. Also lots of packets of this and that which need using so I'll be trying to keep shopping to a minimum for two or three weeks or we always seem to end up using the new stuff and the older stuff stays in the cupboard. As far as Sky goes, the offer they make you if you want to keep some kind of package seems to depend on how long you've been with them, what offers you've had in the past etc. if you stick to your guns and decide to cancel, chances are you'll get a 'come back to us for half price letter' in a few weeks, then you can decide if you've missed all those extra channels or would rather save the money
Popped into M&S food on way home yesterday as I had some vouchers to use up and thought I'd take advantage of the 3 for 2 on various store cupboard items. Haven't been in for a while and was shocked at the prices - 59p for a single orange:eek: everything looks so nice but there's so much packaging on things. I did wonder how much of the fancy Christmas stuff will end up as unwanted gifts somewhere.
Have priced up a load of jigsaws to sell today, didn't really know what to ask for them but decent ones are so expensive to buy new. I hope people will be thinking of cosy evenings in over the winter and will snap them up. They can go on the noticeboard at work anyway and I'll see how it goes. There's a load more in the attic to get down when we bring the Christmas tree down. I feel I need a massive decluttering spree now. I think it comes from sorting through my Mum's stuff and realising how much we have that we really don't use or need. Anything I can't sell will go to the CS in the New Year.
I also have a couple of teasets in the attic which are nice to have but will never get used but looking at the bay of e, they only seems to go for a few pounds. I think I will just have to be ruthless while I am in the mood! Maybe a visit to the hoarding or decluttering thread would be in order :rotfl:0 -
Too true, Lyn. Too true. Just heading out the door to do my own teaching which is only less than part time. Last year we were asked to record how many hours we actually spend on teaching and as a very experienced person I was recording just over three times the number of hours I was paid for. Still, it is rewarding and lovely work!
Princess, I get anxious about running stocks down too. We're down to 8 tins of tomatoes right now and I can't help but worry about it.:o0 -
I need urgent support from my OS pals  We went to visit old friends yesterday who are def not into OS or moneysaving, and since we got home the RV has gone on and on and on about how we live. He thinks we live like tinks compared to them
Their bathroom is a sparkling marvel of white and gold ceramic and marble, everything spotless and reeking of expensive wipes. Their kitchen is likewise a sparkling grotto of wine, white and gold, with the dazzle from the (matching floor & wall Italian ceramic) tiles forcing you to wear shades. She proudly announced her oven has never been used for cooking, only to heat M&S pies! When she spoke of meals it was steak this and steak that.
And the whole house was sweltering at about 90f.
Got home to what I thought was my lovely calm peaceful wee home, ad then the RV started... and hasn't stopped once!:(
Oh and she even polishes her pot plants!0 -
Oh Mar, she must be sad to polish her pot plants!!!. Obviously nothing better to do with her time.
You love your home, quite rightly and have spent time thinking of how you want it. I am sure your family come to visit and know they will feel comfy in your home, I wonder what her family think.
You also have your soap business and your other interests, and of course the RV !!!
Take no notice of his moaning, he will forget about it eventually. Ask him if he felt at home with the white and gold theme going on, and if so offer to buy him a pair of shades.
I am sure your home is calm and peaceful (obviously not with the RV moaning) and is your haven.
To be honest I would be ashamed to admit I only use my cooker for warming up pies and certainly wouldn't brag about it.
Love your home with all the little touches you have done yourself and feel the contentment.

YY true, my lot don't come very often but when they do they always say they love my livingroom its so peaceful, and the DIL always says she'd love to stay here all day. That couple's children don't talk to them, or to each other, they all fell out, haven't seen them for 5 years. Wish the RV had a bit more commonsense though, he does get me down.0
-
Well I think that speaks for itself don't you Mar. How awful not to have seen your children for 5 years, perhaps this is their way of coping with it.
Explain to the RV how lucky you both are to have your family (and yes we all have problems with our children over the years) but at the end of the day we love them and they love us. We don't always approve of everything they do but we will always love them.
He will come round but I know it must be very wearing when he keeps on. I have Himself sitting here in a mood because he had his usual blood test yesterday and is convinced the Doctor will be 'phoning today , he isn't a good patient.
Keep calm Mar and breathe!!

Tell him you're happy to stop cooking Mar, if he can supply the M&S stuff to reheat on the budget you'll give him.
Then send him off to look at kitchen and bathroom shops and catalogues. He'll soon get fed up and it'll keep him out of your way...0 -
I would be ecstatic if I could spend the rest of my life heating M&S pies and that's the truth! :rotfl::rotfl:0
