Molly I am so glad you are feeling better

Monnagran - glad you have got to grips with the idea of moving, good that you have plenty of notice as well

Kez - some days are just like that and you wonder why you bother - hopefully tomorrow will bring better for you.

As for the snow - I was asked by three different people what to get in to be prepared - it was a shocker as I hadnt realised that they knew I prep for everything and also I hadnt thought they would even bother prepping, but it was good.

Its been a yuck few days and I am taking a hammering, mainly due to a school group I have been running, it seems one of them is looking to find issue with everything I do, say and take part in and as such I am persona non grata on the school yard in places. Today I went to the head and told her I was resigning, explained why and said that whilst I wanted to give back to the school, the price here was too high. She has asked me to stay for tomorrows meeting and she intends setting ground rules etc and trying to clear the air - in reality I think the damage is done and I am not expecting to stay.
Its annoying as the person who is causing the issues isnt doing it for the reasons she says she is - she has a problem with her husband being friendly and with the fact I am doing stuff with my kids, holidays etc - which she wont/cant do, and her insecurity is causing it. I get it, but how do I say, look I think your husband is lovely and he is my friend but honey I have enough problems with one man, I would much rather have none at all! And obviously unless she is totally honest about the problem it can never be addressed.

I'm sorry about the person causing such upset, yes, sounds like insecurity and a touch of the green eyed monster. It's often odd how people can be very jealous of those that would be their greatest friend and ally. I also wonder if she feels she has reason to suspect her husband (past issues, not about you!), and that colours her judgement. Even so, with all the excuses in the world, the playground can become a battlefield with someone like that. I would hope you can continue in your role and s*d her, but of course you have enough to deal with and don't need all that negativity around you. Whatever you decide, do it for you, walk tall and proud, don't let someone control what you do through their nastiness or insecurity. :A

Nutty, very glad about your mum's results. Such a relief all round.

edit, Monnagran, I am just over the border (when you move), so let me know if there's anything I can do.

Gorgeous day here. Went out this morning to buy 6 kilos of mince ready for making cottage pie for 60 on Wednesday. Will cook it and freeze it over the next three days then it will only be the veg and mashed potato to do. Unless I think I can manage making 60 individual yorkies. Oh - and then there is the sticky toffee puddings and something for the diabetics. I get stuck for the diabetic puds, fresh fruit salads and fruit in sugarless jelly have been done to death. I think I may make a mousse from a sugarless jelly and evaporated milk unless any of you talented people have some other suggestions.

Byatt: Many thanks. Nearer the time I'll let you know. It seems that there are a few of us not too far away from each other so some sort of meet-up might be possible. What do you think?

Nutty: Phew! What a relief for you and your mum. And well done to your DD. It sounds as though she has had a mountain to climb and has finally conquered it. What a star!

Kidcat: Sorry to hear that you have a toxic person around you. In my experience all this sort of aggro is caused by jealousy, struggle for power, an effort to control or just the fact that you are, perhaps, coping well with a situation that she knows she couldn't manage and you are making her feel inadequate. It has to be something like this. I have found that in these situations someone is trying to compensate for something that is wrong in their own lives and they can only do it by bringing down someone else. It seems to make them feel better in some weird and twisted way. Of course, you don't have to join in the game. I bet it's not anything you have done wrong, you are simply a convenient person to take it out on.
This is the last thing you need at the moment though. Do try not to get involved.

Well Fuddle: this time next week you'll have the car all packed up and will be living with a toothbrush and your night things. This week will fly by, you see.

Now I have to choose 5 hymns that I can play on the piano. Our organist is away on Sunday so they have to put up with me. When I say that I come from the school of Les Dawson pianists you'll have some idea of my standard of musicality. Still, it's either me or a tuning fork, they have the choice.:D

KIDCAT ....Sorry that you have someone with the "eyed monster" in your reach, oh how id hate to be a person suffering with jealousy................

MOLLY....Glad the transfusion has given you some much needed energy.......

NUTTYP...So glad your mum as some real good news, our health is worth more than anything......

BYATT....Have you lit your wood burner yet this winter.?.I remember you put a pic up on here last winter of it a light......

FUDDLE ....You will soon be moving again,!!. Well it feels as if you move every year, perhaps its because none of us move much, you will be ok........

MONNAGRAN....Well sounds like you will be moving too......

On my birthday just gone on November 13 wednesday, I lit the fire and said to hubby the food will be ready in half hour, well the next thing I knew was 3 paramedics and a first responder all in my sitting room, without warning my blood sugar levels dropped to 1.3 and I was out of it, how hubby managed to get 999 none of us know, but he did......

They tried for 40 minuets to get me back to the land of living , not good at all, scared me sh*tless when I came round, but as soon as they dripped glucose into me my bloods started dropping rapidly , so on that they took me blue lights to hospital, my sone and his wife came here to look after hubby, very traumatic for him, cut long story short I came out of hospital yesterday at 4pm............

As most of you know the the procedure is in hospitals, oberservations every hour etc, etc........Long story short, diabetic dr thinks that after being diabetic for 37 years I now dont have the normal warning sign , so I now have to check my bloods about 13 to 15 times aday until I go up the hospital for appointment...................So as a result Im no longer allowed to drive , in case I flake out at the wheel..............What a job, eh but im lucky to be alive........

Both my sons have spent different times of the day here with us , doing all the hens , house, etc which has been such a help, and im told to rest..............But I love living in the rural countryside , but without a car, buses , trains it will be very difficult........Well im now going to light the fire , nice warm and cosy tea by the fire....Sheila...

Hi Monnagran, long time lurker here.
Take a look at the recipes at the top of the low carb thread on the Health and Beauty board for some suggestions for diabetics. There are lots of desserts that can be made in the microwave or oven using almond flour, egg, cream and cocoa powder that have no added sweeteners and take delicious. Also greek yogurt with a few berries should be ok. Lots of ideas over there.

Sheigar - how scary for you, hope you're feeling a bit more with it today - your body is telling you it needs a rest, please listen.

Nutty - glad it was good news for your Mum.

Kidkat - do you want us to all come down the playground with our rolling pins?

Monna. - no idea on diabetic puds but instead of individual Yorkers do a couple of roasting tins of giant ones and then cut them up as required. I often do that instead of individual ones, I throw some chopped onion in too just to add some extra veg into the equation.

Gorgeous cold day here, I'd do love this time of year. Got some washing out for a blow and it's just finished off in front of the fire. Managed to use some vouchers against a couple of Christmas pressies today, I detest doing the surveys but the vouchers are very handy.

Off out tomorrow night to see a comedian, it's a family present to ourselves, we all wanted to go, so go we will. DDs did ask if we could go out for a meal first but that's just not possible (cost and pain wise for DH) so I've brought a small bit of pork to pop in the SC tomorrow to do pulled pork and some HM coleslaw....the girls approve :)

I've been naughty and booked to go to the Christmas market in Brugges in December, I went last year and loved it, DHs parents are coming to keep him company (pick him up after a fall) so I know he's in safe hands and I get a break. I'm very much looking forward to it :)

Oh my gosh, Shegar, how scary was that! That reading is so, so low, and I'm glad your DH could dial 999...

I know what you mean about rural and driving, I was told by a diabetic nurse that bloods should be checked every time a person has to drive the car () as if they were in an accident, even if it was not their fault, unless proved otherwise that blood readings were ok beforehand, a person can be prosecuted. So do take care, will you have to inform the DVLA?

Maybe though this will help support your request for respite?

Yes, wood burner lit the weekend just gone, it's lovely. :D Even Polo-cat was basking in the luxury and he's quite a tough cat being ex homeless.

Monnagran, a meetup would be lovely.

Sheila huge gentle hugs. How absolutely rotten. And not being able to drive, that would finish me off. Happy belated birthday. Please take care and let yourself recover from the shock.

Back later am mid way through pick ups and flagging fast. Goodness knows what we will eat tonight.

A meet up would be great :D

Shegar how scary. How awful for your other half. Poor soul, he did well didn't he. It's frightening how we spend our days with each other but non of us would have had a clue had you not been able to pop in and let us know. It's been a right swine for you of late. I hope you get your break really soon because you must be on your knees about now. Be obsessive with your bloods won't you? P.S I've been with DH for 11 years and this will be our 5th home... I'd like to put down roots now. Fingers crossed we stay put eh? Must make for boring reading for you all :rotfl:

kidcat sorry you've outside influences effecting you. Toxicity saps the life out of you doesn't it. I hope you can see a way of freeing yourself from the baggage.
