Quick visit to tell you that the Rev and I had a hilarious weekend - more a meeting of new friends than an interview - and in July we will be off to Somerset. I will be sad to leave the Island but look forward to a new challenge.
We are close to Bath and Longleat and not far from Salisbury, my most favourite place, so it will be very different from here.

Very tired so will take myself off to bed and be more sociable tomorrow.

monnagran so delighted for you and the Rev, lovely part of the country and sounds like nice people too :T

KW are you having them all at once to get them over with early?? xxx :)
I'm trying to think and not getting very far. I was wondering about giving one gift per household, instead of lots of bits & pieces and envelopes with money in. Do you think it would be possible to do that for a household whose ages range from 8 to adult? It feels nice and neat and simple. I like simple. I think probably food would be the way to do it.. open to any and all ideas please !

A big hamper with nibbles, some DVD's even a cosy blanket, your knitted socks, for family movie night, scented candle. That kind of thing you mean? Can attach a tag, saying it's for family movie night, or if you know that there into a certain series, a box set of some sort, comedy and lots of nibbly food to go with it, in a basket, a box. I have used all sorts of stuff as hampers, little plastic set of drawers full of sweets, fancy cake tin, you get these nice plastic tubs now, anything really.

Well done master sgd and miss nutty!!!! :T:j:T:j

    fantastic news monogran :D

    nice poem SQ

Mar not sure if this any good got you but one hamper for a a family we did this:

    Games compendium (£10)
Large book of facts about dinosaurs (had questions in suitable for all ages) (£3 the works)
A large picture frame with lots of spaces in for photos (£5 home bargains)
A make your own jewellery box (£1 wilkos)
A make your own car (£1 wilkos)
colour your own teddy bear (£1)
    bass strings and plectrum (£5)

Now i know this works out to £25 so way over budget, its what we had to spend on a family hamper and we had strict rules to adhere to. No tv or branding allowed, had to involve the family as a whole in every way shape or form. This was for 2 adults and 5 children

So we thought all the items above all the family can take part in all the games including a toddler with the make your own bear. The family love singing and play music so bass strings and we knew the eldest was learning how to play bass.

Hope the above give you some sort of idea :)
  • Morning all.

Seems like a big congratulations is in order for the youngsters! Well done to both SDG & nutty’s children!!!! :j

Monnagran & the rev, Good news about Somerset. X

Slightly warmer day today. Yesterday was bitter.

Counselling went good. I have started the rocky road to exposure yesterday. Came out feeling a little overwhelmed.

My counsellor is also hell bent on helping me understand just how powerful the human brain is. She is giving me homework too. I’m starting to feel more comfortable now that I can slowly make the changes needed to my life.

Today is a day of chores. I have a list as long as my arm which I must get done.

Anyways, That’s all from me. Take care all x
    Future goals:
    Become debt free.
    Beat Depression.
    Be happy & healthy

Princess glad the counselling is working really well for you :)

Had a mental day yesterday and going to be another today.

Went to the cluster meeting and got repeatedly out down by the person i went with, this not only made me feel like utter !!!!!! it made everyone else in the room feel really uncomfortable.
you see everyone else knew each other and this was first time i had ever attended so i was scared anyway and my anxiety levels were so high i was shaken like a leaf.

So i left that really extremely low, then met OH for an hour for lunch. First time we have been alone since August alone, no other people, just us sat in a very quiet cafe. then he dropped me off for my meeting at school, which no one turned up near the end. total nightmare, but again i caught of with paperwork and things needed for today.

So back to FAST tonight, i've already done a load of paperwork, hung 2 loads of washing out, another load in, now just need to crack on with more paperwork, before i leave about 12ish.

Oh and need to speak to Living Life who are an offshoot of Mind, i got a very snotty letter off them, saying they had been trying to contact me and now want to see me in a fortnight.
I'm fuming and so is OH because he's been taking me over for appointments that have been cancelled and not been told. He opinion is because i'm not having regular times its mucking me up and i don't know whats happening. They apparently have left voice mail but i have had any of them, plenty off other people but them out. They wanted me to do group therapy and course and i said wisely, i think, no thank i'm really not ready for that. Its on a evening from 7-10pm and i said i'm sorry but i moved away from that area because i know what it is like there at that time of night. I volunteered to on an early evening one or day time. But apparently i was being unreasonable. They also know i won't answer my phone to caller id which comes up unknown. I told them that before. Guess what if wasn't receiving child tax credit i would have to PAY for this service and i have had 10 sessions since March 2013 as they have been cancelling them. So i'm not impressed by this, guess they running out of the grant eh ?1

    Morning all

Monna - glad you've found somewhere you love! When will you be on the move?

SQ - I read that poem to my DH this morning, he said it describes us to a tee! It's fab, thanks for posting it.

I've been big game hunting with the kittens this morning....it's not easy to be first to the mouse with so many helpful paws! Mouse is now in next doors garden and I asked him to not come back. I don't think he was paying much attention though.

I've just reclaimed the conservatory, it had become a real dumping ground so I've stripped it out, cleaned it all down, washed the floor and put back only what lives out there. We don't use it much over the winter as its to cold and I refuse to heat it. I have put some snuggly blankets on the chairs so we can sit and wildlife watch on the not so freezing days.

Quick cuppa and on to hoovering the house through, washing all the floors. Fun fun fun (but at least I'm not spending money!)

  • Morning toughies,

Nice and sunny here, washing out on line. Lots to do and scribbled lists everywhere so today I will organise and get a few teeny tasks out of the way. I will also do a couple of things for myself as a rare night out tomorrow and I feel really tired so need to recharge a bit, want to really enjoy the ballet!

Glad you all liked the poem, I thought it would suit Mrs LW and some other posters like Pooky (and DH and I except the gardening bit... til 2014 that is, I have plans!) I love poetry and happy to see my boys share my interest.

(((((Kez)))) sorry to hear about your stresses, hope today is more peaceful for you... make time to sit with a cuppa at least.

    sq :)

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
