KW are you having them all at once to get them over with early?? xxx :)
I'm trying to think and not getting very far. I was wondering about giving one gift per household, instead of lots of bits & pieces and envelopes with money in. Do you think it would be possible to do that for a household whose ages range from 8 to adult? It feels nice and neat and simple. I like simple. I think probably food would be the way to do it.. open to any and all ideas please !
  • Mardatha: I have to send things to my husbands brothers family in another province. After years of bits and pieces, I'd had enough (especially as I'd never get thank yous from the children, and one actually said to me Auntie Collie, you send such cool stocking stuffers).

I now send a gift card to a restaurant chain that is across Canada. The card can be used for an in restaurant meal or a delivery to the house. I just totalled up what I'd spend on presents and postage and bought the gift card for that amount. Send it registered mail so it doesn't get lost.

    They all enjoy it.

Mardatha as wc says meal vouchers or maybe day out vouchers?
  • MAR send them a hamper and get it delivered it saves all the fuss and going out as you can do it online. They're not cheap but they're very good and having had one a few years ago I can vouch for them being very nice to recieve as a present, Lyn xxx.

That sounds a fab idea WC, I have been debating what to do over the one family I am still in touch with, and I adore, but although we live 5 mins away, never hear from them, unless I contact them, the children are lovely but I never get a thank you, and in these days of texts and email, it's not like sitting down and writing a letter as I had to do. I spend hours deciding what to get and then never know how it was received...so...a gift voucher for all, and once children reach 16, I will stop altogether.

Kidcat, what kind of meal vouchers & day out vouchers can I get?

SDG/Nutty, well done for the kiddos.

Well done to master SDG on driving test.

Hope all the infections recover recover quickly and you have got all winter germs over with in advance.

Spent ages doing a chicken and spinach canelloni. First time I tried to make it the mixture fell through the tube till I realised to put a plate under it but still took ages ;)

Had a brainwave this afternoon - opened a small can of tuna, put contents in bowl in fridge, washed the tin and used it to hold six canneloni tubes at a time steady while I filled them then used a skewer to poke contents further down the tube.

DH came through to the kitchen to mutter "Arctic plunge!" After getting him to repeat it a few times he explained he had been looking at news and a bad spell of winter weather was due next week.

He has offered to take me shopping at weekend to stock up :j

Hugs to all who could do with one.

Byatt - you can buy cinema vouchers for the big cinemas, and most of our local big places sell vouchers too - Zoos etc. All the major restaurant chains offer gift vouchers too. Or maybe National Trust? They also offer gift vouchers.

I think cinema vouchers are probably my preferred option - suits all ages and is a nice gift to receive :)

Can I remind everyone that if you buy gift vouchers from MR M you get a penny off a litre of petrol for every £10 bought.
