Yes fuddle, young couples often had to live with Mils and they drove them crazy - nothing changes. The matriach always knew best and was loud with her opinions

I had to cope with spending a lot of time at husbands maiden aunts house and they drove me to distraction, nothing I did was ever approved of and I was treated very shabbily. However I looked after them for years and years and eventually when the elder one died I had to keep the other one going, support her whisky sodden hangovers then nurse her through cancer. They were gfood to Oh and the kids though but everything came with a price!

Having a quiet day here Oh spends a lot of time in bed as he is quite weak. I have just taken him a toasty sandwich and coffee, otherwise he wouldnt have eaten since tea time yesterday. Thank goodness I have the lappy so I can pop in and out and 'talk' to people. the tree fellers have been back and forth trimming the tree's in the street and its lovely and light sat here at the table. Slow cooker is pootling away with a huge pot of tater hash so am going to make pie from the leftovers, or maybe pasty's.

Just had a letter from HM revenue seems they owe me money from March 07 to April 07, due to a change in the server disability element of wtc. This was when I was with my ex.
Seems I will be getting a payment of over £100 :j and I don't have to share with my ex...... He still owes me 3 grand.. but let's not get into that..........
So that'smy good news of the day..
Oh and my library card arrived as well, lol. X

    Afternoon all

I've been doing nice stuff today, mainly wandering around France, wine tasting and having a lovely lunch. Might have picked up a few bottles of nice stuff too (and some bread and cheese :) ). Some of the wines were 3 bottles for £6, the same ones are £7 each in the UK.......bargain!

DH has gone to bed for a couple of hours as he's worn out so Im having a swift cuppa before throwing together a quick meal. Then it's a collapse on the sofa with my feet up and a spot of crochet.

Fuddle - have you sorted schools for the girls? How are they doing with all the change?

    Evening all :)

Pooky That sounds like a fantastic way to spend the day. Glad you had fun :)

well done on your windfall cornishchick :T
As for the Yorkshire pudding debate, I use St Delia's recipe which is liquid added to flour and made with water and milk. It's generally turned into toad in the hole as that is something the whole family will eat.

I bit the bullet and had an eye test and ordered two new pairs of glasses. £133 before using the clubcard vouchers  I converted £65 of vouchers and only had to pay £3 in cash. I did have a wobble and had to phone DH to talk to me and tell me that it was the right thing to do, that I deserve new glasses and that getting them for £3 was a bargain.
There was a lovely little boy having an eye test and he needed lots of drops in his eyes. His mom was telling him how brave he was and that he could choose a treat for being so good. He was sitting next to me when he needed the next lot, so I bribed him with a pound coin to be brave and so he could have a flake and extra marshmallows in his hot chocolate he asked for.

I got vouchers for 5p off per litre of petrol, £5 off a £40 shop and £20 off when you spend £100 on electricals and game consoles. DS2 wants a Nintendo 2DS for Christmas so that will come in very useful.

I've spent the afternoon watching how to videos on youtube and making a prototype Christmas stocking. It has a few mistakes, but it's a good base to start from. I've learnt a lot from making it which is a good thing and I only used an old fleece blanket, some lining from a curtain I shortened and some ribbon.

I suppose I had better go and start dinner.....roast chicken, roasted sprouts, butternut squash and parsnips, carrots, stuffing and gravy Mmmmmmmm.....Yum :D If I want to eat it then I have to make it.

fuddle can i say blame you!!!

were having mince, puddings, stuffing and veg for mmmmm
We were going to have spag bol, but had leftover yorkie mix.

OH is hvaing a bad day at work, someone is taking the mick basically and doesn't want to pay for services. even after he had been there 8am and didn't leave till 4
I've told him to give them my number and i'll deal with it. If they pay i'm taking them to court, i am well and truly sick.

Went to the school and my lovely ladies didn't turn up, so couldn't finish the paperwork. They were so lovely though and apologised, receptionist didn't give me the message.
So i sat in the little kitchen finished off the play tubs, sorted some hamper bits and other things. So they all ready for friday.

Instead i'm seeing them tomorrow at 2pm, at the school.
So cluster meeting in the morning then off to school for 2pm. busty day, i know one thing, if this person makes me late i'm going to have to say something to them and it won't be nice.

I['d lovel to do that pooky :)
    what a fab day out.

princess hope you and OH are feeling better soon.

Well we have had tea already, OH isn't going to be home until later on. We had lam stuffed with s&o stuffing and apricots. Was nice and sweet and is a very cheap cut of meat from the butchers, was £3. This a local farmers butchery / veg shop. It has a tea room too, but we didn't call in.

I have been sat sewing by hand some cushion covers and just have a table cloth to finish. All made from a curtain sample that was 50p, bargain!

Yeah Pooky, I have applied. Just waiting on the answer now. It should before the middle of next week. The girls are unbelievably raring to go. Eldest DD will be sad to leave one friend but isn't resistant at all to the change. I think it helps having that camping holiday down there at the end of August. They have seen all there is to do.
  • Its become very quite here recently, Where you all gone?

Managed to get more done than I expected yesterday. Just a few chores to do today before I head off for counselling this afternoon.

Been quite the past few days. What with OH being home. But he’s finally feeling well enough to head back to work today. Although its nice having company during the day, There is nothing worse than having someone under your feet - I feel I’ve lost my mojo!

I really need to do a shop at some point soon, But I want to hold off to clear the fridge, freezer and cupboards. But, I’m now stuck at the point where I’m having to create mis-match meals. Normally I would just buy the items needed but really want to hold out.

I remember someone on here saying that there is a website where you can put in what you have & it gives you ideas…Does anyone
    know what I’m talking about?

Morning Princess, I know what you're talking about but not sure which website it is. I'm sure someone will be along who knows :)

Hope your counselling goes well. I finished six weeks of phone-based CBT in October and have been offered fortnightly face to face sessions starting at the end of the month. The great thing is that the therapist is coming to the local surgery so I don't have to get anxious about travelling too far. I really appreciate the fact that there's enough money in the pot to provide this service but it does make you think how many people are struggling these days. As well as the new sessions at the surgery, our local library had a big display of the NHS recommended self help books on display last week. Seems that even people who have been pretty resilient up to now are struggling under the pressure of trying to keep their heads above water in the current climate (hope I'm not mixing my metaphors there).

Have a good day and take care everyone
