My DD is 18 and isn't at all interest in learning to drive, no idea why? her sister wanted to drive straight away, oh well never 2 kids are the same. Youngest DD has called and she took her gcse speaking and listening exam a little while ago received her results to day. She had to talk about her best achievement, so she told how she represented uk for tae kwon doe a couple of years ago. the examiner awarded her 30 marks - an 'A'. Considering she failed the gcse last year I wanted to share how proud I am.
I bought from mr s some value frozen cooking bacon, just to advise don't bother getting it. It contains a lot of water and is like minced bacon. Oh well we know not to buy again. I have another packet to use up, so will do it in gravy another day.
Nice to see some others posting on here again today. take care xBSC member 137

Well done little nutty
Yes, we have towels on the line here looking very heavy still with damp.
I missed Martin's show. Will try to catch up. Looking forward to Tudor Farm though tonightIt'll be one for eldest DD as well as she likes to watch them and with her learning about the tudors last term she'll be uber interested.
Things are moving along at last with the letting agents. I've had 3 phone calls keeping me in the loop this morning. I just wish I didn't have to complain in order to get somewhere.
The coldest morning so far here this morning. We get in the car where little DD announces that she's cut her gloves off her string (through the arms in her coat) and has lost 'em. I have 4 pairs of spare gloves (prepper in me, it's an affliction guv'!) but they're in storage *bash head off painted plasterboard. Home Bargains though 49p so she can be warm tomorrow and a stern word about messing with mother's mothering strategies0 -
Nuttyp, you are right to be proud, wonderful xxx I buy the chilled cooking bacon from Mr S and if you have a scrabble through you can often find packs full of slices - I buy a few if they have them as they freeze really well.
good luck to those with counselling, hope it goes well. Cornish I have those 'what the hell do I do when he has gone' moments, even more so at the moment. A friend has recommended I go and see the Macmillan nurse at the library even though its not the cancer thats the main problem ( well upto now) I have also started going to a carers group when I can and they often have talks from different people like counsellors and I feel its time to get some help. Its a very big picture to get into focus but often when he is in crisis different bits pop in my head.
Had a pleasant hour at Ikea with Dd and her partner and bought some bits and bobs, more than that I got to spend some quality time with them as Dgs was at school (although I missed his presence)Had to rush a little as OH was in bed but it wasnt too bad.

I will get my caravan0 -
Ginny I haven't been to IKEA for ages, has the brochure changed much from last time? I bought my bedroom and lounge furniture from there. It was all I could afford, but it does the job and still looks good some 6 years later. Not bad for value flatpack stuff.
I too normally buy the chilled mr s cooking bacon, OH found the frozen stuff. It was a new line. We tried it, its not very good so I will return to buying the chilled version. I usually just trim any excess fat off before I cook it. Makes a cheap and tasty meal with a large Yorkshire pud, gravey, and few mixed vegs. yum yum.BSC member 137

Love the chilled packs of cooking bacon, our Mr.T and Ical*nd both used to stock them but sadly no longer and it's not at all easy to get to Mr.S from here and the new free bus hasn't turned up any time I've waited for it. Mr.M do what they call cooking bacon but it's usually just mushed up little raggy bits so I don't bother. What I've found best is Icel*nd's £1 economy smoked back. You get 6 slices and it's nice bacon that puts out fat, not water in the pan. Hope that's useful, Lyn xxx.0

Hi All,
I'm here as well, just a bit behind on work and feeling quite stressed these days so I'm sticking mostly to reading. Thanks to Fuddle for mentioning Tudor Farm, I will enjoy that during my breaks when it is up on iplayer. I like that I can watch for 15 minutes over a cuppa and come back and watch a bit more over lunch.
Our holiday extravagance this year is going to be a hot chocolate and dessert party for our friends. Since I'm busy with work I'll probably buy in most of the desserts, but I hope to get time to bake a few. The hot chocolate will be in the slow cooker and I'll get in lots of decadent additions--maybe a syrup like Mrs. LW mentioned a few weeks back, whipped cream, marshmallows etc. Should keep the costs down but still be a nice evening and shouldn't take more than an afternoon of preparation. I've collaborated with my mum to make some dressing up clothes for the neice, nephew will get a voucher for his first walking shoes and that is the main presents done. Just some small items for the adults.
Hugs to all who need them.0 -
Congratulations to MASTER SDG for passing his Driving Test, well done that young man!!!0

Well done to master SDG!
clever thing!
well done to Miss Nutty too!
Lovely autumnal day here, got a load of washing dry on the line in the sunshine and enjoyed a lovely fresh walk. It's chilling down now though and I'm about to go bring in some more wood for tonight's fire.
Someone on free cycle offered up a shoe rack that I collected last night, ideal for my porch and I've been wanting one for a while......I can't believe I had to take it in the garden and hose it down, I couldn't give something away that was so filthy....came up like new though and now holding all the wellies in a row ready for the snow.
Got some pork mince reduced to 39p so going to turn it into a lasagne with some garlicky French bread....yum!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
