The fact you are trying to sort things and are contacting its crazy that they cannot freeze the daily charge. After all they've the power:mad:to reinstate it if they wished to after all is in some order. I hope they are ready to/will refund if proven wrong. How do they assume you have a spare £25 a day in the first place?

Morning All - Windy down here on the 'Sarf Coast' but no Tornado's!! Doesn't seem to be any great damage anywhere. I've been listening to the radio this morning & from what they are saying I think the wind must have come up the Bristol Channel & then across. Sunny here now with scudding clouds - dare I put my washing on the line???
Had a lovely day yesterday with DH. We went for a walk through some Beech woods - they were blowing & making lovely rushing sounds & we found a Sweet Chestnut tree so I begged a bag from a dog walker & we picked a nice bagful - I do love a forage ;)
Princess - Your situation with HMRC is appalling! - I'd elevate it pronto - tell 'em you've had enough & you're contacting the Daily Mail & maybe they'll sort it out properly!
OMO - please keep an eye on that leg - you seem to be doing everything right - keep it elevated & put something cold on it to minimise the bruising & swelling. Think you're gonna know about it tomorrow though :(

Small rant alert...Am fuming, Mum just rang, her shower curtain rail has fallen down. She rang the council and was told ' We dont do repairs any more, you will have to get a family member or friend to fix it for you' She is in a warden controlled block and they contact her everyday to check on her yet they cannot fix something they put up in the first place

Luckily DD and her chappie are going down wednesday so hopefully he can fix it if not we will have to make another 45 mile round trip so I can bl**dy do it. I told her to put a big towel on the floor when she showers so it will pick up the spray when she showers. She is scared stiff of falling in the first place. What is this government doing to this country when councils cannot afford to do repairs.

Right rant over, going to venture out between showers for a mooch as I am stir crazy and its my respite day as Hubby has gone to stay with friends for the day, drink coffee, eat cake and talk about cricket :j

Understand the rant Ginny, can think of lots of examples that come to light around here...even gardens are ignored for those who are disabled, there isn't a scheme where they will come out for a fee that is reasonably low enough for the person affected to pay but would cover the cost. You have to find a private person/company that will charge silly money or hope there is someone kind enough to volunteer.

Enjoy your few hours of freedom...

    Not a happy bunny post!!

I have been appealing decisions from the HMRC for nearly a year. Their service & staff are incredibly unprofessional in every area.

So after nearly six months of getting letters which makes no sense I decided to call them to discuss the matter & hopefully find the light at the end of a long tunnel.

After a 18 min hold on their telephone line to speak to a human I get told that my account is in such a mess that the adviser cannot help me. When I questioned this he told me that I would have to wait another three weeks for someone to decide whether they will write me another letter or if someone will call me. This is just to rearrange my account to something that every party member can understand.

All the while, They are charging me £25 a day fine and cant put this on hold and no one can explain to me why they have lost 4 returns. They are asking me again to print off a fifth and repost. I don't think no one there understands that ink, paper, Stamps all cost money and on top of that I then have the pleasure of a unjust fine because of their cr*p service.

Ok, I think that's my rant & rave over!!

On my own, I hope you get better quickly! Please stay away from more flying objects. Normally the results are never great!! x

Go to the BBC... no doubt. We responded to a request on the radio some years back, about small businesses being hounded by the IR. Within a fortnight, I had Rory Cellan Jones in my kitchen :p interviewing us as part of a feature.

It went out on the National news in a few days, the inspector was pulled off our case and it was sorted PDQ. All the money they owed us back came flying through the post from various deparments. Didn't stop them trying it on again a few years later (very stressful doesn't begin to cover it) but when you are in the right and you have nothing to worry about, you can afford to dig your heels in!

  • The thing that angers me the most about the whole thing is I "AM" trying to get all this sorted. But it all falls on deaf ears. Thanks for the heads up. I might give a few newspapers a quick email. I was wondering if there is maybe someone higher I can contact?

Hi everyone, sorry OH has had the last week off work so haven't had much time off. We actually spent some time together and enjoyed it.

Monday we took youngest dd and her BF to London. We just window shopped and had a burger n drink from MCD. Tuesday was a cleaning day. Wednesday we went to cath kidston outlet factory shop, and then we went to Milton Keynes. Again, didn't buy anything just browsed. The prices of things were horrendous.
Thursday we got 2 copies of the mirror and went to aldi to do the big shop. Then Friday we went to Norwich to attend to OH nans grave, we cleaned it and then planted a rose £1 from the market.

The weekend has been a gardening and house tidying day. We managed to shred/burn all the paperwork from my BR. Saturday was the 6 years mark so we finally got rid of all things from my past.

We have been checking the fencing, looks like the winds are getting up again.

My mum has decided to 'give' me some money to spend only on a holiday for me and OH. We have never had a holiday without any children, so I am excited. I have a little savings, and the plan is to continue saving.

POPS the garden looks great, I bet in the summer it is very nice to sit out in. A nice cuppa and a quick read of a book....

Sorry I haven't managed to catch up with everyone else, I will attempt to read back asap.

Try a letter to your MP Px - I know from first-hand experience that the dept has to respond PDQ to them, and lots of hoop jumping occurs! I would also try Martin, BBC, press, anyone who kick up a fuss.
