Haven't been on this thread for months, but just wanted to say that I hope everyone gets through the storm without any damage.
Keep safe. xxxx0 -
Thanks for the RT link, Possession, it worked for me. We buy it regularly, so it's a massive saving! :j
Been reading but not posting on all the threads, not enough hours in the day!
Had a very up and down week; DS had a good report at parents' evening, DD had a lovely birthday, took mum to solicitor to get the ball rolling re POA, but the worst was a friend losing her sister to cancer this week (know her, too, only 47 and leaves 2 small kids, very carp really!).
We're so enjoying half term, no alarm clocks, I've finished my part time weekend job, and I'm making my Christmas cake and doing other Christmas stuff.. My priorities have changed a lot over the last year, we're a bit poorer financially, but can still pay the bills, and I feel closer to the littlies again as we have more time, or should I say I'm putting them and DH at the top of my list again?
It's rather wet and blustery here, not too bad, do hope anyone in the path of the bad weather is ok, look after yourselves and stay inside!

I got another confirmation email this morning, so crossing my fingers! I am trying to remember what happened last year, but I think I have deleted the emails, which I don't usually do. I think I went onto the RT site and used a code rather than going through the subscription service this link sent me to, so not sure how that happened! If it does work OH will be happy as he always buys RT every week, so we might as well keep the subscription running after the offer finishes.
Having a nice lazy day, will cook a roast later, the FR pork from Aldi, so hoping it lives up to expectations.
No sign of the storm here yet, all quiet on the western front! Stay safe all!!!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Hi everyone It was dry with a little sunshine this morning but the wind is picking up and it is getting grey now, and here comes the rain:) Clothes horse again to the rescue..
Pops may I say that I think you are coping very well indeed and looking after yourself too. I am sorry you have had the annoyance and stress of the neighbour's notes etc. I lived many years ago in a different city than where I am living now, and the children were all small. We rented our home from the local authority too and two doors down in our row was a family who were buying there home. Their drain was blocked and so they had to pay for the men to come out so they asked me to make the call as if I thought the drain was blocked from my house, so they would not have to pay and me by renting my house would have it paid for by the h authority!!!!! Cheeky beggars eh? Dirty looks all round when I said no.Do a little kindness every day.;)0 -
Margaret that sounds virtually a similar situation and the more I hear its quite common. Thank you...
I'm not too bad at folding clothes and bedclothes(the latter can be a bit difficult when on your own)but the ones I find really awkward are the ones that have elasticated corners and fit around a mattress. I never get it right.:p
We're supposed to be safe here but the wind outside is getting stronger.
I have discovered the Lumiere in Durham I hope to attend and others locally may wish to is on four days in November and though I have a ticket for one night I can attend any of those nights just that without one you cannot go into the centre of the city until 7.30pm so I may make a few visits so I can return and take a many images/videos knowing I can recharge the camera's battery. I know its likely to run out.
Also I can take the event in stages as otherwise I would probably tire myself out."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Pops, I'm 90% certain that I can make myself available with a bit of notice for the HA visit, last week I was busy with work at the latter part of the week, but could have re-arranged it. Not surprising so many owner neighbours are trying it on with the HA neighbours; not everyone has insurance that covers drains. (I do, in fact I discovered at one point I was covered twice, oops.)
Hello again OMO, hugs to CChick and Mr Chick. Some dried fruits specifically raisins, peaches and apricots contain high levels of iron and might help a bit as a snack, if Mr Chick's appetite is poor.
I'm crossing fingers for those down the country that the 'hurricane coming' warnings are more of a precaution and that there has been some media hype. All my extended UK based family outside DS and DD's family are in the red zone.
AOT, with the latest news that Disability Living Allowance is set to continue for new claimants in most parts of the country including ours, have you considered a claim? The free bus pass you can apply for with higher-rate mobility will get you to A!di again. I don't use the buses often as I shop locally with my trike, but when I first got it, the pass made a few hours teaching in remoter parts of the county worthwhile. Now that I work from home that use has gone, but it saved me a lot of money.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Thanks mcculloch29:) I do come across when writing as a worry wort and yet even today I am so calm and not thinking about anything in particular.
Not depressed and thinking of the past/not thinking too far ahead/resting but I do think its not good being alone with "those" two...I have dealt with others from the same place and been fine.
Everyone else who calls(and that includes women)often are alone but these always arrive as a duo like Batman and Robin...:p
Sure they'll give me warning of their imminent arrival;)

Something else that made me think that the HA are genuinely interested in your welfare, Pops. You mentioned the HA guy asked about me. It was only when I put the phone down that the thought occured that he thought I might be a gold-digger. :rotfl:
I know you said you told him but I'd better be there in November to set the record straight ..! Why do so many people have a problem with platonic friendships? I always had far more boy friends than I had boyfriends, my DD and DGS were/are the same. Nothing changed, either. Oh well!Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... :rotfl:back handed compliment? There are many more genuine friendships that are safe and between the sexes than the media and said people realise or wish to acknowledge. Would serve them right if there was a house full present when they arrive:p:D"A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

My garden and how its coming on...not much more to do this year and it can be left until approx March...first image the front garden, the second the back garden. Just need to take some rubbish away and kill moss, then we'll get some flowers in again."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy.
