  • Hugs Cornish Chick and to your dear Husband. Come here and unburden whenever you feel like it, better here than bottling it up.

  • The reason I am on here early is because no one told the cat the clocks had changed. She thought it was time to play at 5.30!!!

  • Morning everyone. I love it when the clocks go back. I never manage to adjust to summer time so now I am able to get up early for work and not feel like I need more time in bed!
I love the dark nights too :-) I'm very much a winter person!
Plans for today are enjoying my only weekend day off! I'm going to get some washing done, maybe do some baking, get the kitchen tidied, dishwasher on, drink several cups of tea, watch some telly then go to BF's mums house for Sunday dinner tonight before getting home again in time for Downton Abbey :-)
I'm really enjoying my new laptop - windows 8 was a bit difficult to get used to initially, but now I love it, and the touchscreen is fun too!

    Morning All,
Looks like a good day ahead Glitterkitty. I used to be ok with Winter but my watch is set at two hours ahead of GMT now and at present it means its light at around the usual time and my days will be lighter longer.

Just have to remember its a different time when I go outdoors...:rotfl:

but when you husband sleeps for most of the day and he used to be so energetic its hard, It doesn't help that he is anaemic , but not getting another blood test till next week.so nothing will be done for another week.
I am trying to be up beat for him, and cheerful, but its hard.

{hugs} for both of you, and *rats* to having to wait another week for test's, but if you don't mind I'v got a few tip's to help with the anaemia, seeing as it's something I suffer from [the pottices[sp?] type for me]

Have a glass of orange juice with any meal, it help's the body to absore iron in food

the herb parsley is iron rich, can you sprinkle some on top of his meal's[I know not everyone like the taste]

Dark green veg like savoy cabbage and broccoli are also iron rich

Look at the kiddies cerel, most of them have extra iron added to 'em.

  • Morning everyone.

Yesterday's shopping was manic. We went to ald! and the amount of people was shocking. They was selling out of bottled water, cold meats, ect. Maybe panic has set in or its just a case that its half term for families and payday who knows.

Then I returned home with the understanding that we was battering down all outside goods and my brothers showed up & the heavens opened.

So, I've managed to make a supply of foods that can be eaten cold too. Other than the front, I think we're good to go!

Cornish, I hope your OH gets better soon x

Some gret ideas on possible ways to guard against anaemia. Wish I could find the booklet Mum was given when in hospital all about adding items to food to fortify what was being eaten especially if appetite was not as good as it once was.

Lots of rain overnight but its calm now and the sun is shining...now we have to see what the day brings as we head for the promised storm:(

I'm in the middle of going through more of Mum's clothes for the CS. she had some lovely clothes...I'm moving my clothes in the wardrobe unit and hanging more of them)coats, shirts and jackets as I purchased some wooden hangers which are stronger.

In the compartments above I have hats, gloves, scarves and socks and ties, PJ's and thermals in the next, jumpers and T-shirts in the next.

More room in the airing cupboard now for towels and bedding etc...I've given myself a job but once started...

I did not hear it but the gardener phoned last night(he's supposed to come here today)I missed the call and so far my calls have not been returned(perhaps he's not coming)

I'm ok about it as the garden is levelled and a little longer may mean the leaves from the trees will drop and can be raked up.

If it dries up we are putting some stuff on it to kill the moss and encourage grass to grow ready for spring. It won't grow much now anyhow.

He wants to do some painting around the house but that can be done anytime during Winter so no rush there either.

If its tidy, dusted and uncluttered that's good enough for me.

    Small steps...

So far leaving the clocks is working...I'm actually two hours ahead:rotfl:on European time...

Hasn't chicken become expensive? I had another small shop yesterday. So I now have some reduced meat from the supermarket which I'll spread over the next week or two mixed with lots of fruit, vegetables, cereal, seeds etc...and the meat content when added will be limited.

I found some pork steaks with apple sauce, chicken breasts with a leek and cheese coating and another couple of chicken breasts with garlic mushrooms. Spent approx £7 and saved approx £7.

Thank you Candlelight, In general that's how I always was and felt until the recent visit from the HA and recent run in with the neighbour, calm, laid back and happy. Hopefully that's returning...

Yesterday I found out something by chance that is a little interesting(I think)

I was talking to two neighbours, one lives seven houses down and in the last six weeks had a similar situation to me with the drains. A neighbour of hers tried it on. Similar situation as she rents from the same HA as myself, whilst the neighbour has purchased her home.

The other neighbour says every other garden has a drain for rain water and another for "Foul Stuff" so no wonder my other neighbour did not have a blockage when he got his rods out because his is for rainwater. I think I have that right.

Everyone says have someone in with me when the HA calls again...even a neighbour says he's willing to be here and it with my Dr, gardener etc...ready to help too it all helps...

    It shouldn't be happening though.

I may be putting images of my home on my blog soon to show why all these visits are un-necessary.

Possibly the garden later on today...

    Its already quite windy outside.
