    Hi everyone:)

I've been awol for a few days because we have been winterproofing outside, making sure we are ready for the bad weather that is due to arrive (we even have a plastic box with all the important papers in in case we need to move quickly.
Also I have finally got my website finished and live ( I'm not the quickest on a computer but slow and steady wins the race) so I can now sell my toys online (I know that I'm not allowed to advertise here but if anyone wants to pm me I'll give them the address and offer code I have got on)
So now I can get on with thinking about xmas and get back to some serious moneysaving and losing some weight (I am determined not to buy any more clothes till I've worn out the ones I've got.
Anyway I better get on with some jobs
    Have a good day everyone

  • Morning everyone.

Just nipping on now whilst its quite - OH is at work at the moment. He's been told that Monday he is working outside. If the weather is as bad as expected I WILL not let him go in.

We've made a list and headed out today to get the last few bits in. Then its coming home and moving everything out of the windy areas and using bricks / breeze blocks on things we cannot move.

Weather is really grey and dull here so far. Hope that this isn't the calm before the storm because its currently not giving me faith.

Diner ready in the slow cooker so that's another thing done. I've also done 2 wash loads during the cheaper electric rate. Last load due on when OH comes home with his dirty uniform.

We've also made sure OH's granddad is already for the storm "should" it be a big one. Maybe you could check on neighbours / family members to make sure they too are going to be safe?

Anyway, Where ever you are, Stay safe peeps. If it amounts to nothing then we've all prep for nothing!! :rotfl:
    Future goals:
    Become debt free.
    Beat Depression.
    Be happy & healthy
  • Gailey don't let selfish, ignorant people put you off using a bus if it is convenient for you. I have to use buses to get about and am always appalled at the way some passengers behave. You would think it is their own private limo and no children should be allowed - along with anyone carrying shopping.:mad::mad:

I need a stick to walk about and find it easier to sit near the front of the bus, especially if I have my shopping trolley - and have ended up on the floor before trying to move further up the bus. I obviously don't look elderly or disabled enough though (I'm only 60) from some of the nasty looks and comments I get if I dare sit in the seats designated for those groups. I have even been accused of being a fraud and a scrounger.:mad::mad:

Such people just want what they want - it makes me so angry. Don't let them upset you or your children.

  • I've been to A**I to use the voucher for my monthly shop this morning but don't think will be doing so again. My work bus pass has now run out and the cost of bus fares makes it not good value for me.

Also the struggling with full trolley gets more difficult. So will prob return to online shop and home delivery with Tesco. I can arrange the delivery for a time when the charge is less than the fare anywhere else.:money:

Hope you all have a good day.

Kate - love the bag! How did you do the text in the end, it looks embroidered?

Well. times are a changing - had a discussion this morning with OH (he started it) about prepping for potential storm! never been know that he showed any interest/concern about our abilities to cope.

One thing I have done is check the state of the tide over the weekend. Thankfully they are very low. If it had been at the top of the tides, with the low pressure and the wind we could have seen a massive amount of water heading our way - phew!

Hope everyone has a good weekend, and have battened down the hatches!

I used a Dylon fabric pen Mrs C which I managed to pick up in Cardi, at the little craft stall in the old market (downstairs) I printed out the text in handwriting font and made it bold, which I can read through the lining fabric used for the square, Pinned it on top on the ironing board, so it couldn't slip, then just went over it with the pen, twice, as for some reason that looked more 'crafty' ironed to set, then carried on with applique.

Yeah I'm battening down too and prepping, although mine is more about planning my baking, so as not to be stuffed if we loose power! Mind mind you if it's as bad as they are promising, we could easily get the market cancelled!

How strange - this link talks about printing onto fabric being the new 'big thing' here? I bought my packs of fabric sheets fro printing ages ago.

Might be useful for someone making halloween stuff...

WOW those are fantastic...sent the link to DD! :)

I saw a cute thing in Crafters Cwtch that was a little pillow with a pic of a sleepy rat with a teddy bear on, that I'm now guessing was made using these sheets, not the transfer prints that I bought. Super cute picture, I came home and googled and there are tons online. Google rat with teddy bear :)
