It's madness Possesion, I cannot begin to understand how or why many weddings have turned into such overblown affairs. As we know here, it can be done with minimal fuss, and are usually all the better for it.
Smiley - if you are reading, happy birthday, how could I forget we share the same day?
All this talk has made me think I should actually do a bit of prep in case things go pear-shaped weatherwise, so I will get the picnic gas stove down from the summerhouse, and some candles from my stash. We have got logs for warmth and I might rig up one of those little flowerpot heaters just in case, to take the chill off in the day time. We have plenty of food in, I do worry about losing electric as we have so much stuff in freezers, but hopefully if power does go off it will not be for too long (is that wishful thinking?).
If it comes to the worst, I can fire up the van and cook for the village!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Mrs C, in the 1987 storm, insurers ended up paying automatically for all freezer loss. All we did was look at the lists, you'd never imagine people had so much lobster stashed away in their freezer....Occasionally if it was just ridiculous we'd refer the case to a manager, and perhaps they were inspected or asked to send photos/packets in, but we were so overstretched that this was likely weeks after the storms and who on earth keeps going-off food that long just in case.
They knew they were being swizzled, but there just wasn't the staff and only the most serious claims were inspected in the end.
I will buy some matches tomorrow, as I've tried reminding myself for ages that we're running a little low.0 -
Question. I've made one of my bags this afternoon, and DD has thrown a spanner in my works
by telling me my punctuation is wrong...anyone here good at stuff like that?
I've written: A little bird told me... It's fresher at my local producer's market!
She says it should be local producers market, and questioned it's
Help..I don't want to do another one wrong

I think your "it's" is ok, as it is the shortening of "it is", but I fear your DD may be right about the "producers"!0

Damn
I did ask her first but she didn't respond. It said local producer's on the blasted FB page. I should have known they get it wrong!
Thanks

It's fresher at my local producers' market!
It's is the contraction of it is (its is belonging to it)
Producers in context is plural therefore the market is the possession of the producers, not of a single producer which producer's suggests.
Sorry

Happy Birthday Mrs Chip.
When my youngest son was about 9 we went on holiday in a borrowed family caravan only big enough to sleep two. Both boys thought was a great adventure to sleep on air beds in the awning - they thought it was a tent. All went well until the night we had a big storm - thunder, lightening, strong wind and lashing rain. The awning flooded despite oldest boy running around trying to stop leaks in the middle of the night. They had to come inside the van as even the airbeds were floating:eek: but youngest son just slept thru it all.:D Woke in the morning to find himself jammed between two sofa beds and had no idea where he was or how he got there.:rotfl:
Still makes me laugh to think about it now.
SavingQueen of course you are right to celebrate your children's achievements.
Nargleblast it was 'hoying it down' here as well this morning. Had to walk to a meeting and was like a drowned rat when I got there. Sun got out since.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
Nuatha beat me to it! Yes It's is fine and technically producers' market is correct as the market belongs to several producers rather than one.
However as lots of people get confused with punctuation, I wouldn't overly worry. Don't waste the bag you have already made, doubt many people would notice minor grammar blips.

Thanks guys. I know I am right to celebrate my childrens' achievements but I just don't want to come across as bragging. Today DS6's TA caught me after the Harvest Festival to say how proud she was of him. Another child had been rude and bossy towards him and she could see DS showing signs of anger but he managed to calm himself down. After that he didn't want to go into the hall for the assesmbly but again he choose to. I know the TA would have helped him (she is great) but even so it is brilliant to hear - this is the child who just under a year ago hit the Headteacher in angry frustration!!! He has had a hard week, first wobbly tooth, eye infection, feeling unwell all week, sent home from school feeling sick and he doesn't do well in crowded noisy environments (like a whole school festival with parents watching) He is a little star.
On a different note - anyone know what else, if anything I can use )(value) fabric conditioner for? I found some stashed away and used it a few times for the odd laundry load (I have converted to white vinegar now.) DS6 has been complaining of itchy clothes so stopped using it. Tried giving it away but no-one wants it -probably cos it's value, the snobs. Don't want to chuck a plastic bottle in the bin or pour the liquid down the drains. Is there something else I can do with it??

Thanks peeps. I'll change my tracing copy. They powers that be (at the mkt) are so crap at spelling and stuff, I'm determined that mine be right! I'll just use that bag myself...expect this question again
I'm going to be making several batches and they will all be different. different fabrics designs and texts. Here is the finished article. I needed to make a test one anyhow, to make sure my changes to to pattern worked ok.
