I have an electric steamer(lost the instructions)but its quite basic and a steamer that fits on saucepans too. Think I can cook most combinations regarding any meal:)

Found this handy calculator of relative worth
http://www.measuringworth.com/ppoweruk/index.php
According to that, the pans should now cost
£154.00 using the retail price index
£210.00 using average earnings
So they are a bargain! :rotfl:Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Happy Birthday Mrs C! I love hearing of kids doing well, as has been said, we hear so much of the other. My sister has three lovely, bright grandchildren, I get to hear a lot about them...
My pleasure with my DGC is that DGS got 'Coach's Player of The Year' for his junior rugby league side, their season has just ended (odd, I know).
He also plays union for another team, who are a bit sniffy about the league, tbh, but he's just starting out in the sport, it's not as if he's been playing for years.
He isn't a super-sporty kid but he puts in 100%. When he played football he just wasn't fast enough and didn't shine, but rugby is more his game.
For years he has watched on as others did well, scored the goals and got the prizes, and finally someone has spotted that he always gives of his best. As I'm Welsh, I am thrilled to bits that rugby is his thing, after all, even if he is playing for an English team.
Pops, there is intimidation from your neighbours, yes, but not the HA. Try not to see it like that. Please take heed of what I and others have said, your calls to the HA have been listened to, they are concerned for you and they wanted to check that you are OK.
It was just an unfortunate coincidence that things weren't OK the first time they called earlier in the year. I can see where they are coming from.
One of their tenants has been bullied, frankly, and they want to make sure all is well. The allegation made against you by neighbours isn't current and they are sure of that now, having seen you yesterday.
You are way ahead with rent, which worries them - they will be thinking could you be making better use of that money? Are you going without elsewhere to do this? (These are their thoughts, not mine. My bro was a Housing Officer, time to come clean,,,)
Reading and hearing what you said I was wishing I'd popped round after all. Though as your gardening guy (and perhaps my DIY guy soon) had the doors open .. brrr! I don't 'do' being cold.
Whack the heating on the next time they arrive and take up their offer of a more modern and hopefully far more efficient heating system in the Spring. You know it makes sense, it will be better for you.
You know you've got something outdated when a bloke in his late thirties doesn't know what an immersion heater is! :rotfl: (That made me laugh, at him, not you. He probably didn't have a council house upbringing...)Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Thanks for the input
I feel reasonably ok and calm honest. With a friend like you...input from here and now even someone to call on to keep things as they've always been "Things can only get better!":D
Just a good payer...if they gave me the money back I'd still have to pay weekly and I can top it up now or save the money each week for other things so I still get it back in a roundabout way and I'm not in arrears.
Gardener is happy for you to call anytime. I don't think the house was cold but he was in the hall with a door open(a bedroom window was open too)
Will still keep my Dr in the loop and maybe the CAB...cover my back."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Happy birthday Mrs Chip, have a lovely day.
SQ it is so good to hear of children doing well and thank you for your kind thoughts.
OH taken to his bed again so will get on with all those stupid things that need attention.
Just got a letter to say I am exempt from jury service :j:jthank goodness.
Stilty sending hugs and hope things improve soon. Would love to have seen your little one all dressed up, bless her little cotton socks. My friend and I always used to make crazy costumes for our tiddlers and loved all the planning and making - everyone else used to buy something, not a chance of us doing that, its a flipping waste of money.Clearing the junk to travel light

I will get my caravan0 -
She looked amazing ginny - and she went as Wednesday Addams complete with matching miniature outfit for her doll yesterday for scary story dress up. Think I may have set a pretty high bar for myself but have loved the creativity of it.0

Possession wrote: »I remember the 1987 storm well - particularly looking out of the window in the early hours and seeing a tree flying across our garden. We were lucky enough not to have much damage (we lived in Kent which was very badly hit) but I had just started working for Royal Insurance and we had to move to an empty floor of a new office and lay paperwork all over the floor, there were so many claims. All of the claims inspectors from the North were seconded down, otherwise people would have been waiting months for inspections with big holes in their roofs. My dad was a headteacher and key holder for the school - the police called in the middle of the night as the school alarm was going off, so he had to go out. As he passed the top of a steep hill there was a police car blocking the road, because power lines were down beyond that and were flying about in the air sparking, and my dad said the poor police officer looked terrified as his car sat rocking about at the crest of the hill. My mum was very pleased to have him home again.
I'm slightly concerned about the giant rabbits and wondering whether to bring them in, and will put garden chairs etc away, but otherwise we are well prepared and could feed an army if we had to. Although I'd rather not.
Happy birthday Mrs C!
I remember the storm too but for different reasons - I slept through it and the kerfuffle that ensued because of it. I was a student OT and on a very stressful placement and had a very bad migraine. I was staying in an Old People's Home and very friendly they were to me. I zonked out on the sofa, occasionally coming to, aware of bits of flying roof going past the window - back to the sleep of the dead.....I could not be roused and had to be plonked in a wheelchair and evacuated out of the home as they had literally lost their roof. It is still a blur to this very day :eek:I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Catching up here
Oh Gailey my love bless your heart. I have 6 five boys and one girl (all adults now) but oh boy could I have written a book about what they got up to.
My two youngest there is only 13 months between them in age. Now they are men but many's a time we talk about stuff and laugh and say remember Mum when this and that happened and we really have a good chuckle over it. My lad who turned 30 this year used to take the baby's dummy when friends came to visit and hide behind the settee and we did not know until later on. He said I want to be a baby again and the tantrums were endless. He hated having to put his quilt cover on and would run out of school and my poor heart used to be beating so fast. Every Thursday after school he had comprehension homework and I sat for hours with him over it. Fast forward to now he is engaged to a beautiful girl has travelled to Australia and New Zealand and they are now back in Australia and he is selling cars in a Toyota dealership earning a very good wage loves his life and has the kindest heart I have ever known. He said they would love lots of children when they marry and I said hope they are all boys son:) and you will never be off the phone with their antics lol how we laughed:)
I am sending you a massive hug love. You have a lot on your plate with so much but it will get better. You are a wonderful person and such a loving Mummy.xx MargaretDo a little kindness every day.;)0 -
