I have a question about compost heap jelly. Has anyone ever made this? Is it the sort of jelly you have with ice cream or a preserve? As it has lots of orange peel, is it bitter like marmalade? Can anyone help me please?

It's a preserve, but all the bits are strained out so it is smooth (but can be a bit hazy!)
  • Hello MOLLY how is everything with you and the family now? Hope that DD has found her feet at uni and is really enjoying herself, that your Dad is on the mend after his stroke and that you are beginning to pick up healthwise after your op. Poor Molly puppy, I'm dreading the firework season as poor Docky is a wreck for as long as it goes on, and it seems to go on for longer each year doesn't it? We've tried everything to help him, the pheremone plug in, the sounds scary cds, the sedation and none of them has made the slightest bit of difference to the poor old fella, all we can do is be in the study with him as it's his 'safe' place and he gets under the table on a pile of old towels and have the music as loud as we can comfortably bear it and we just have to weather the whole annoying season. Still, I can remember how exciting Bonfire night was as a littlie but it was usually only the 5th and the weekends either side of it that had firework noise back then, now it goes on for months doesn't it? Hope Poppy and Molly fare as well as they can and everyone elses canine pals too, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Dident mean to be at derogative about anti depressents.

Just its more stress and anxiety went to see gp last week and wont give me anything for it other than anti depressants as they now labelled tranquilisers as bad drugs but like booze they stay in system for short period and can take as and when needed where as anti ds and im on drugs for entire time and takes while to leave system.

Anti ds can be just as addictive and awful to come off than tranquilsers.

Im sure they can help in lots of cases but im more tired and stressed out and going on wait list for how to manage my stress does not help me in short term luckily getting some sleep made me feel heaps better.

The suns out may take them park later.

I think every case is individual, no size fits all, it depends on how good the relationship is with the Dr and what drug they choose, the dosage and many other things.

Awwh, GAILEY, I had one like that many moons ago - small boy - its so hard and exhausting I know. It doesn't last for ever though it seems like it at the time. I also know what it's like to have no money when others seem to be doing so much better. In later years you really do realise that those things aren't important. Maybe you could try a toddler group in a less affluent area like I think you mentioned the other week. Maybe if you could manage that, then small boy would release some energy there and the other mums may not be as bad as the ones in your area.

Esther - its like a mild marmalade, I suppose it depends how much of each fruit you add. Mine was just like a nice fruity jelly, good for on toast as well as using with meat. :)

Lovely and sunny here today, but a lot colder. We had torrential rain overnight and everywhere is soggy.

Sorry about your nose Pops, hope it is feeling bette now.

Missing mog, keep thinking we will see him in his ususal places. We have decided to wait for a bit to get another pet. I really want a dog (or two), have waited years to be in the right position to have one (not out all day etc) and would love to have a pug (or two :D). I won't buy pups, would have to be rescue, I don't think it's right to breed puppies (like they do here in Wales, the puppy trade is awful) whilst there are dogs waiting for homes. Our local rescure demands a secure garden, but we only have the very small yard and the garden up the hill, so not sure if that counts. Mad as we are within 30 seconds of miles of footpaths, beaches and rivers. OH does not want to get another cat as we are right on the road and he would constantly worry when it was out.

Hugs for those with sore mouths, fritted pooches and dervish children!
