Can I ask whether my washing will dry on the line in full autumn sun but with temps of 11 degrees?

Eventually, I would think :) Especially if there is a bit of breeze.
  • Hello everyone.
Finally have a day off work! Its only because I am at work on Saturday, but still, its nice to have a weekday off, even if I have chosen to bring work home to do, at least i'm doing it in the comfort of my house!
Plans for today include doing some work (booo!), waiting for an electrician to come over to look at what needs doing to our shower (poor Landlord has no luck with tradesmen, so hopefully this new one turns up!)
I also want to make the kit in this month's Crafty Creatives box. For those who dont know, its a subscription box (£10 + £2.95 p&p) every month and you get a box of craft goodies delivered. Each box is themed and includes a kit with instructions to make something, and then a whole bunch of other bits and pieces to add to your stash. Its a fab way to try out crafts you might not normally do! Last month I got to try needle felting for the first time!
Also going to pick up my new laptop tonight. Its a windows 8 touchscreen one, so I think its going to take some getting used to! I hadn't been planning on getting one yet, but my desktop is on its last legs and the hard drive is about to fail spectacularly, so I caved and ordered one.
I may even pop into town this afternoon. Its looking like a nice day here in Newcastle, so I'll see how I feel later on, and how much work I get done!
Got diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency last week, so I am now taking vit. d supplements and trying to get outside whenever I can. Hopefully the supplements will help me stop feeling so tired and run down all the time.
the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j

Depends on the moisture in the air Fudds, if the ground is dry (ie patio/paving) then the washing stands a better chance of drying. I always put mine out if it's not raining, even 20 minutes blow through with fresh air is worth it. I've had my airers set up in the conservatory with my dehumidifier going over the past couple of days as its been so wet, got three loads dry yesterday! (always double spin if you're drying indoors, it really helps)

Had an early night due to a migreane, didn't wake up until 8.30am! Must have needed that. Had some proper strange dreams though, one was about an advert for an orange plastic train track (an adult train set, not Childs) with a counterbalancing engine and carriages should the track be unstable by hanging off the edge of the table.....I seriously wonder about my brain sometimes....where did that come from?

DD1 has finished college for half term, DD2 is still off school with chest pains so there's no rushing around today. I'd paid for DD2 to go to a theme park next week with a friend via a coach trip and was getting very worried about her going as she has these chest pains, the coach company called yesterday and said they don't have enough takers for the trip so they've cancelled and refunded us. Worry over!

YS broccoli, cauli and leeks with pasta and a cheesy sauce for tea, might add some turkey in too if there's enough left.

  • Morning everyone.

Thank you to those who had added links & advice about CBT. Will have a browse later with a cuppa. I think that going with an open mind might be the best result to getting the most out of the therapy.
The counsellor herself contacted me yesterday evening to arrange a appointment & start date. I was shocked to get seen this coming Wednesday. Top marks for the NHS so far. Very quick and professional service.

Second day of sunshine. I’m hoping it dries up here for the weekend so I can get out and give the lawn one last cut. The problem with ours is that its right at the front door and it gets like a swamp. Having short grass means people can see the mud & hopefully not tread it into my house!!

It seems that it’s one of those days today for us.

So far we have half the internet. It seems the only pages we can visit is those in our favourites. Been in contact with our provider - They say it’s a problems with our box so they’ll send a new one out but we have to re-sign to their company for another 12 months & pay £2.19 in postage!

Then I get a telephone call from MIL. To say that one of my partners family members has been taken very ill. Might not make the night.

They say that bad luck comes in three’s. I don’t know whether I should just head back to bed now or just a rescue the rest of the day!
    Future goals:
    Become debt free.
    Beat Depression.
    Be happy & healthy

Morning all.. Lovely and sunny here at the mo, hard to believe we are forecast rain of biblical proportions later!

I've made the pasties for today - they are cooling ready to pack and deliver. I need to go to town after, and hit the bank, and supermarket. Will call in on DD and sproglet as I want to pick her brains about organising for a couple of events. I'm feeling a bit perkier today than I have for a bit (apart from having heartburn) and have actually managed to cross a couple of things off the phone list, but still feeling slightly hysterical about the list of upcoming events, as the coincide with other things at home. DD has good perspective, and is also being drafted in to assist, so hoping that helps :D

My friend in London who lost her house is [STRIKE]threatening to[/STRIKE] talking about visiting along with the friend who has taken over my role, as chief support worker. Does it sound terrible to say I'm not over the moon? I know it would only be for a few days, but she's talking about sticking her friend in the B&B and she'll sleep on the sofa etc...it will mean two two hour drives to get them/take them to the station, and frankly I've got so much on that I am really struggling with at the moment, I don't WANT anyone sleeping on the flaming sofa. DD suggested that I stick a bed on the floor in the B&B..which I suppose I could. But I'll have to move all my sewing stuff again! I shall be doing it anyway for mums visit in November, the thought of doing it twice  It sounds really mean of me not to want to see her, but I'm really wary of being sucked back into the madness that surrounds her life, the occasional phone call is OK, and I know I'm far enough away that I can't be asked to actually DO physical stuff, but it will be letters and paperwork and stuff. I don't think she will 'hear' me saying that I'm not up for it. Just hoping my replacement can't come...because I don't think she'll come alone. AM I being mean???

I've cut out six bags from the same piece of vintage 80's fabric, and made the handles, designed a motif for the front, which needs to be mounted on plain fabric. Think I will invent a new design for each fabric I use up (to stop me getting bored LOL)
My embroidery foot came, and I had a fiddle with it yesterday, but I'm still debating my final design. I wanted to put some text on the bags, to do with local markets (or something eco) but everything I come up with is too 'wordy' I shan't be selling these little shoppers for much so they need to be quite quick to make, and I'm wondering whether to experiment with a fabric pen? If I did that I could add the entire name of the market...Wondering if anywhere locally would have a set...? or will it have to be Amazon. It's really nice having everything set up in the B&B, so I can just wander in, I went and finished my handles while the pasties were in the oven.

    Morning toughies,

Fuddle - I also put my washing out in any weather (other than rain/snow), wind and/or sun all help. In the colder weather I bring it in still feeling damp but it finishes off drying indoors so much quicker.

I have to battle condensation here so every little bit helps. I have also starting double spinning stuff this time of year. Well I put laundry on with a slow spin, take out any creasables (as I rarely iron) to hang out then put the rest back on 1200 spin once or twice, really makes a difference. Open windows in the day to air previous day's washing if still drying (and house) and then when the washing in for the evening, on goes the dehumidifier.

Sorry long waffle to a short question (as usual ;))

Glad your migraine's gone Pooky, hope DD's chest pains go soon. Good the trip was cancelled.

Princess - that call was quick! Mind you my scan the other week was on the Weds after a Fri doc's appointment. You can never tell with the NHS can you? I have no experience of CBT to help but I have had short term counselling and longer term psychotherapy and both helped me enormously. In fact if we could afford it, I would pay for some more therapy now.

So sorry to hear about your seriously ill family member. Will be thinking of you and your OH today. ((((((Hugs)))))

Well didn't get to play with my voucher in Sansberries yesterday as school phoned me to collect DS6 who felt poorly. They let me take DS9 home too otherwise time I got home with DS6, I would have had to leave immediately for DS9! He perked up by the eve so at school today. I left DH's prescription in the pharmacy so he had to dash over to collect last night before they closed - just made it, he only had 2 painkillers left.

Both DH and I slept badly last night, 2nd in a row and so feeling utterly pants today. Got burger all day done this morning and cba to do anything productive. Been scoffing kids' choc mini rolls and feel even more yucky now (serves me right I know!) Towels are in washer though to be hung out soon as we have some nice sunshine. I have also done a few admin bits so actually some productivity happening after all I guess.

Katieowl - tell her youre sooo busy you cant fetch her and she will need to make her own way, and you wont be able to spend more than an hour a day with her because you're frantic. Do it - because if you cave in then you'll hate yourself for it and be in a downer for weeks! xxx
  • Morning everyone

It's much colder here this morning - I'm wrapped up in a fleecy blanket at the moment, trying to avoid putting the heating on!!

Well I've been to see the Doctor this morning and he has agreed that putting the ADs up is the right thing to do at the moment. He is a new GP and I really, really like him - this is HUGE for me as I had lost faith in all medical staff after everything that has happened over the last few years. He explained that I've got myself into a rut with the illness etc (understandably) and I need to try to break the cycle. So he gave me some "homework" - I have to go back to see him next week with a list of 20 things to do that will break my routine day. Something I can do at 9.00am every morning. So...............any suggestions???? My energy is limited and finances are also a consideration!!

    Hugs to everyone,

Morning all. Glitterkitty its lovely and sunny here on the coast as well as in town - not always the case though not very many miles apart.:)

Have taken advantage and got two loads of washing on line. With reference to all the debate about getting clothes dry in winter - I am hoping that this year, as I am no longer working, I may be able to take advantage of such fine days we do get and hang things out for at least some of the time - especially as only me to worry about. Might well be wishful thinking though.:rotfl::rotfl:

Am off to put veg curry in SC and make myself a cuppa. Don't think is going to be a very active day - legs bad after 2 days on them - so prob get crochet out.

Hope you all have a good day.

    Hi Debbie
What about spending 15 or 20 minutes listening - really listening - to some wonderful uplifting music? I find it can help me feel more optimistic, energetic and cheerful. And you could spend a few minutes the night before choosing the next day's selection! (like Desert Island Discs!!)
    HTH, the cake xx
