Afternoon all,
some tough situations lately for several posters in different ways but also I have noticed a fighting spirit, positive messages in support and lovely comments from posters. I feel that, to coin a phrase, we are all in it together.
My plans to see a friend this morning were changed and I honestly could have come home and crawled straight back into bed. However instead I popped into see the friend I felt mean about the other day and glad I did, had a lovely chat with her and 2 of her other pals for an hour.
Then went and joined a council gym! Its only £16 a month so I can find £4 a week, small and friendly, the sort of place where you can wear any old pair of trackie bottoms and no-one would give a jot. Two of my friends have also joined (separate friends) so a happy co-incidence. Only down side is no showers (hence the cheap price) and I only have a bath at home but hoping on a busy day to use one of my 2 friends' showers as they both live near the gym. People look at me as if I'm mad saying I don't have a shower but then they do with several other things like cutting my own hair, I'm passed caring these days. I have my gym induction on Thursday. I feel too tired to exercise but know that is all the more reason to go. I am at my heaviest ever (other than being pregnant) and I need to sort myself out healthwise, can't carry on feeling the way I do.
Talking of weight, good for you nutty getting your free 12 week weight watchers. I thought about that too as there is a ww club where the gym is but can't pay out 2 lots of fees each month. I wonder if I go to my docs, I could get the same, I am about 3 stone overweight too....sigh. Still if I was ever stranded somewhere for a few weeks without food, I would have enough fat stores to keep going so maybe I am just prepping :rotfl:
Then hit 3 separate supermarkets for essentials (and some cakes for a friend coming over later)- this is so small and faint, no-one will read it and therefore the cake eating session didn't happen right :rotfl:)
When I have someone daring to enter the domestic chaos of our home, it gets me off me bum ... so a quick whip round before another friend who is having a tough time (and a sad date for her today) had a coffee before we did the school run together.
Best get dinner on, plan an early night tonight as had an awful night's sleep again last night. Want to do some more positive stuff tomorrow, including getting my DBS (old CRB) check sorted, try and get a doc's appointment made and trip to library for some info to help me with some stuff. Also want to get ingredients to make the menopause cake... did you know I LOVE cake? I promised to report back, haven't forgotten.
Onwards and upwards, no-one else is going to sort me out other than me are they now?
take care, check in later, see if you've all been good

(((jem))), sorry you had disapppointing news from the estate agent. I feel for you... we are in a similar boat and it's horrible.... a new kitchen might soften the blow a little though ... you know we will want photos later

OK. You only have to be away for a couple of days and it takes hours to catch up.
Cheapskate: Sorry about the County Press, I can never make sense of their Online version. They never seem to have the same articles as I read in the actual newspaper and I can never find their online features in the paper. Ridiculous really as the Rev (with photo) was on the front page on Sept 6th and on page9 (with photo) on Sept 13th. Still, I think, hope, that will be it for a while. I want a bit of peace now for a few days.
Fuddle: Those slippers are darling. You clever old stick you. Glad to hear you are liking Aldi. Our new one should be open by the end of the month. I did hear some time back that it wouldn't be ready until next spring, but last week it said that it would open this month. Don't know what happened there but I can't wait. It'll be quite a drive, about 20/25 minutes, but it'll be worth it.
Jem: Sorry to hear about your difficulties. Any chance of the nasty neighbours moving? It happened to me once, just as I thought I couldn't stand it any longer the ratbag moved.:j:j
Ginny: How lovely for your DS, and even lovelier for you! We are in the midst of wedding preps here. It is supposed to be a very simple affair but it seems to be costing quite a bit and causing a load of fuss. Thank heavens they didn't go for a splashy event!
SQ: I'm with you on the subject of unexpected visitors. It always happens when you've had a really laid back slummy day doesn't it? I don't know about you but I wouldn't dream of descending on anybody without due notice.
Gailey: It's hard to look on the bright side when everything is so awful. I suggest that you try to snatch tiny moments of pleasure where you notice them. Sort of - "this sandwich is delicious", - "I'm really going to enjoy this bath", "I'm looking forward to stretching out in bed tonight". It's not much but it's better than nothing. I think they call it 'living in the moment'.
Kidcat: You, my lovely, are simply in overload. I don't have any helpful ideas but have lots of hugs and rest as much as is possible.
I can now see patches of floor in the ex-dining room which is a HUGE step forward. I must start now on this ghastly, enormous tip of a place. It will take ages so am planning to do it half an hour at a time.
Starting ...........NOW!

Very very windy here today and cold. Still able to hang out the washing though, and most of it is dry. I have the heating on today and we do need it. The electric blanket is back on the bed since last night and the flannelette sheets too:)
I will be using the clothes horse to finish off the washing later.
Slow cooker will be on in the morning for a stew. Got some lovely meat from our local butcher and Mr Asda dropped off the shopping on Saturday there, such a help to have it in this week.
Fuddle before I forget love you have made a gorgeous pair of slippers for your little daughter. Well done to you. I love to knit but have never learned to crochet, and will do soon I think. I hope you enjoy knitting your blanket, no matter how long it takes. I too am knitting myself oneI do love this time of year though, getting into the warm boots coat etc.
Pops I am so glad you got a ticket for Paul Jones:) My dh and I were at a blues concert in County Armagh a few weeks ago and he was playing with the Blues Band. He was wonderful and he looks so young still:) We had got tickets online for it and we were so pleased as we knew it would be a great night, which it was.
My dh and I went to see him at The Opera House in Belfast a few years ago and had a great night then tooIt is important to get out and about when we can isn't it Pops?
Keep warm everyone and a big hug for all who are finding things tough right now. God bless you all you are such wonderful kind people on here xx MargaretDo a little kindness every day.;)0
