Morning all
:beer::jHAPPY BIRTHDAY FUDDLE :j:beer:
It's the first morning in months that I've had to put the kitchen light on to make a cup of tea. Feels fresh at the moment out there but I'm not sure what we're in for today. I do hope those of you forecast the "torrential" stuff don't suffer any flooding issues....seems like we're in for quite a deluge.
DD1 is continuing to love driving, DH picked her up from work last night and she did her first night drive, we don't have any streetlights in the village so that's an experience. She also managed to get the car on the drive! (something she was dreading)
It's my shopping day but I'm trying to string it out until Monday. Tax credits decided to mess my payments around and now it's all sorted but I'm over £120 out as payments have gone missing. Thats where my food budget money comes from so I'm trying to work around it, then when it does come through I can squirrel it away for the Christmas food shop/mortgage OP. I do have an AF order due today, I had some money refunded and sitting in payp@l so thought I'd use it with AF as they had lots we use.
Started a new quilt yesterday, I'm having some tendon issues with my hands atthe moment so can't hand sew, I thought some machine sewing would be ok and it was! I made 22 x 12" blocks up yesterday and planned the pattern for the rest of the quilt. Today's need to find some more suitable fabrics (which involves having all the suitcases out from under the bed, so I might as well give the floor a good Hoover and wash over whilst I'm there)"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Morning Toughies, what a long night!!! I couldn't get off to sleep, I was too hot and finally dropped off at 12 ish and woke again at 2.30 as the rain started and couldn't get to sleep again so I was up doing the ironing at 3.30 and have been dozing, but not much, on the sofa since then. I'm doing early morning walkies today as we're having the boiler serviced at 8.30 so I'll pop and get ready in the not too distant future.
MOLLY how is your Dad today? I hope much improved and that your Mum has the help she needs to manage at home on her own. Hope you are making good progress too and that the support is there for you as well at such a worrysome time.
I think it's going to be a very long day, catch you all later, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Morning All,
Happy Birthday Fuddle x
Yep, the rain has arrived and been doing so through the night. So may need to decide what to wear for my trip out. Though I don't think it is cold which makes it difficult as you need to stay dry but avoid sweating. The North is supposed to get a lot of rain!
It was a warm night though and sleep was interuped but managed some at least. Will try and have a doze now I can manage another hour or so..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Hasn't been hot here, been definitely autumn. Today its grey and coolish with slight drizzle. Am expecting son to phone and ask if we can pick him up as he might get home today... but the RV was off at 7 to pick up the other son and cart him to a hospital appt, so looks like he'll be busy all day. Those of you who think ferrying kids around stops when they leave home...think again!
Monnagran, I emailed the minister (LOL that's new to me!) and she said the graveyard is council owned so anybody can be buried in it - but she won't allow a funeral inside the church that isn't taken by a minister of a Christian church. So now I'm plotting how to smuggle a Spiritualist minister into the graveyard and out again :rotfl::rotfl: Although I did like your suggestion of a black bag to the tip...would save the kids some money wouldn't it
Hope you and yours are coping Molly, and all other OSers struggling today. This thread is a liferaft!0 -
Morning all,
Happy birthday fuddle!
AOT, I hope you're feeling a bit better.
Molly, how is your dad? And you, are you healing well? I hope things are calmer and brighter today.
Mar, I hope you've found a bit of trouble to amuse yourself with now that you're back on form! I hope son is doing well.
Landlord is sending round a pest control today. We still can't find or catch any mice, but with three sightings he said he felt it would best to send someone out. I'm relieved, it makes like so much easier when people live up to their responsibilities. On our part, all of the food is in sealed containers and we've been extra vigilant, not leaving pudding bowls in the sink over night etc.
It is raining here today, it feels a bit cooler although the house is still quite warm (hooray :j our last house was always cold, even in hot weather I'd be in a jumper inside). However, this does mean I daren't go out in the garden on a courgette hunt. There are bound to be a few toads out there having their breakfast and we're all better off if I don't startle them and they don't startle me. Last night I opened the fridge door while OH was standing next to me. Thought to myself--that felt strange..looked and there was a slug right there under my finger! I jumped out of my skin and OH thought something terrible must have happened. :rotfl:
Right I'd better get to work now. Don't know how much I'll manage before the pest control get here. I have no idea what the protocol is on tea. I can't imagine I'd want a cuppa while dealing with pests, but I guess I'll offer just in case. This is one of the few things I find the hardest to guess the ettiquette on. So many British trades people must think I'm so awkward. Most people can tell I have an accent but can't really place it so they don't realize I'm not intentionally being rude!
Right that was a knock!0 -
