nlj1520, hope the weather brightens for you but rain is a good reason to cancel if its causing too much stress for you and your son. Theres always another day -sending hugs.
Fuddle my dear girl you didnt ask for a Mum with problems and you try so hard to be a good mum(very successfully too in my opinion). Some people dont understand why families move cross country or even continents for new jobs but others see it as a new experience and a chance to change their lives. Yes we could all sit here never taking chances just in case the children dont like it but then you will never know how happy you could all be. Lots of our friends on here have travelled or moved and if nothing else its an experience and life is too short not to grab experiences. It also means in their lives your girls will take chances on new things and not be trapped by sitting in their comfort zones - I know a lot about this as my OH would never move :mad:Clearing the junk to travel light

SDG well done to your son, those are super results and will make him successful at A2 next year, brilliant stuff, hope he's over his bug and able to savour the moment. Glad you are feeling a bit better and able to join in with us again, I missed you!!! SDG I knew I'd forgotten something and have just read back to find it, Super job for your DS passing his theory test too, well done him, sorry I didn't say it before, Lyn xxx.
NLJ1520 is it too late to get in touch with a hire company and see if the would be able to erect a couple of those big marquee type awnings in his garden for this afternoon? that would give you covered outside space and him and you some respite from stress if it could be arranged, good luck Lyn x.0 -
WELL DONE TO THOSE WITH GOOD RESULTS IN 'As'/DRIVING TEST.
NLJ1530: Hope whatever you decide goes well for you all.
FUDDLE: You have absolutely nothing to feel guilty about. Your mum can't see the girls while she is drinking/drunk. Moving seems to be a blessed answer to the situation. You move because of your husbands job for the benefit of your family and that moves you away from the problem. I know it tugs at your heart strings but as rotten as you feel, please tell your self YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE for her actions and responses.

Congrats to those passing exams today! :j
Fuddle, what an awful situation! I agree with the others, she's not safe with the girls if she drinks when she's with them, family or not I wouldn't allow it. Dorset will be a great new start for you all, and as someone said, your sister's still near for your mum. You are a fab mum, have dealt brilliantly with the carp life's thrown your way, keep it up and stay that better mum/wife for your family, don't let your mum's problems poison all that.
Have texted you hun, keep the faith!

Yay! So proud of DD18, triple distinction in her results today and place confirmed at Uni to study adult nursing next month. Just wanted to share :TPossession wrote: »Mr Molly needs to stop barking at the foxes, then he won't get woken up.
Good A level news here - my nephews both got As, so hopefully they will be getting into their chosen universities. One of them was convinced he'd messed up a maths paper badly, but obviously not. Fingers crossed for everyone else expecting results today.
Edit: Great news AlfsMum!DS1 has passed his theory test and has celebrated by vomiting all over the back of the car  Guess who has found out just how far last night's toad in the hole can be spread and what nooks and crannies it can get into. Three buckets of disinfectant filled water and half a bottle of frebreeze later and DH had to go and collect his exam results.
DS1 has got 2 As, 1 B and 1 C for his AS results :T:T:T
Now I just need to deal with the sick covered clothes and a clogged bath drain. _pale_
Well done Miss alfsmum and Possession's nephew :T
Yay to all the good results :T:T:T
Huge hugs fuddle, you need to put yourself, your OH and your wonderful children first (my late sister was an alcoholic and I know the mind games she used to play on us)
nlj, I hope the weather improves so that the BBQ can go ahead with no stress on you or your son.Must use my stash up!0 -
Fuddle:
I shared before just how bad my mum become with drinking. I can totally understand how your feeling right now. In fact, When I was 15, My mum & I fell out and we never spoke for 2 years. As much as it killed me being a daughter cutting her mother out, Its now given her a kick up the backside. This was 10 years ago, And its still raw for us both now. My mum isn’t over the drink in the slightest - But, Now she has control over it rather than it being the other way around.
I also “lost” it a few years back when I stayed at my mums and her so called friend, Knowing her history with drink came to her home with a crate of vodka & gin. I realised the same look in her eyes where she felt she had no choice but to “socialise” with this friend over drinks that I offered to make the drinks for them - Turning to the garden a smashing the entire crate. It caused world war 3, But, She soon understood that she lost me once and I was prepared to leave again it was a boot she needed.
Now, She texts / calls me when she feels herself slipping towards the “illness” begging me to speak to her, come over for a coffee ect to take her mind off it completely. For this I’m grateful that I’m a stubborn moo!
I think the point I’m trying to get to is….Sometimes you have to hurt the ones you love the most. Now, Your hardest part is sticking it too. It will only be a matter of time before she relies she lost you & her grand daughters. Keep your chin up lovely. Trust me, The guilt fades and you start seeing that your missing huge parts of your life.
Congrats to everyone awaiting / receiving exam results. we’re currently waiting for younger brothers GCSES which is next week. X
Hugs and support to anyone who needs them.

Well done to all with exam results!0 -
Im in the dog house this morning - literally. In the night I woke my husband up patting him on the back and telling him to not bark at the foxes outside. Usually I tap Molly on her back and she shuts up. He couldn't get back to sleep after so is tired this morning:eek:
Hope those waiting for exam results get the grades they need. It is not the end of the world if they dont though x

Hi everyone, finally able to have 5 mins and catch up with you all. Yesterday was another hard day - so called collegue decided not to turn up again at 2pm, rang her and she said she was in hospital. She claims to have overdosed on alcohol and pills the night before. Now this is the same person who has been absent for 8 days with no notice and I sent her home for smelling of alcohol at work.
I ended up being on my own from 715am until 430pm when my manager came in to rescue me.
Today I have a rest day - yay - I caught the bus with my mum and youngest DD and went to kings lynn. I took a dress back and got a refund and then found in another shop a dress that was cheaper. In wilco's we found some wallpaper reduced from £20 a roll to £5, so I bought 3 rolls to decorate my lounge. I have left over magnolia paint so the lounge gets a re fresh for under £20.
I have stripped the beds and have lots of other washing to catch up with.
Taking my mum later to mt t, youngest has had to order a netbook for collage. I rang child benefit and they have said it will be paid until she finishes in 2 years time. yay - tax credits finished ages ago.
Will post again when I have re read, not good at the proof reading.BSC member 137
